Kenny you could have also tried to set the coaches pace to being slower so that it slows the game down, and the other team gets less opportunities to score.
it's defensive rating which is per 100 possessions, the number of possessions don't matter

I understand, now, that Defensive rating is per 100 possessions, but I still believe it will help because it makes getting a stop more valuable.

You could do it if you switched between paint focus defensively and perimeter based on the other teams strengths, but that would take way longer to do.
There was no 3-point line in that season for the Bullets so the fact that you got close at all is incredible
Edit: The best defensive rating since the 3-point line was added was the 03-04 Spurs with 94.1 so for what it’s worth you beat that!
Edit 2: Electric Boogaloo: That was earlier in the video you ended up with 98 so still not there but point stands.
He got a 98 at the end so he didn’t beat that one either

Kenny you can probably do this challenge but you need scorers on your team too. The more shots you miss when you're on offense, the more scoring opportunities you give the other teams. So mix in more two way guys with the defensive studs when you run this one back.
Also like slow tempo on offense would help
Maybe mess with tendencies a bit too, for example out ad shot 3 tendency to 0, that way he Will take Higher percentage shots,

Drtg is per 100 poss so pace doesn't affect it
@@liorhendruker1854 3 Pointers do, idk how to go around that unless u set the entire league 3 Point tendencies to 0, because if u give up 45 points from 3, that's 15 extra points than when that 91.3 drtg happened, that can pretty much be the difference between a 100 and a 90 drtg at the end of the season

Kenny the thing you missed is you had your offensive tempo at neutral. Slow offense = less possession = less opportunity to score
Run it back , it's definately doable with the team you built

That was a really fun challenge and I'm impressed how close you got. I do wonder if it is possible with other slightly different strategies. Maybe worth just testing different ideas for another video if you're ever willing?

That Bullets team was pre 3 point line so less point in general. Kerr also had a better coaching defensive rating. Great video!
challenge idea: make a team with best 3pt
-best playmaking
best rebounding
and best defense
and see who wins the chip
Rebounding would win because of 2nd chance points and having more possessions also multiple people have determined in 2k rebounding is supreme

It’s all per 100 possessions, so the amount of possessions a team has doesn’t really matter, it all averages to per 100.

The "on second thought" challenge: turn off trade deadline
build a great regular season team (go for the record)
Then on the very last day of the season trade 1-14 on the roster
Fire the coach and hire a new one with a completely different system
Flip the entire team and the coach then win the championship.
This is a solid ass idea

Honestly given how the NBA is so geared towards 3pt shots these days, that defensive score is incredible!

It's super impressive to have that big of a gap between 1st and 2nd DRTG. The 74-75 Bullets were only 3.1 ahead of the Bulls that year.

The fantasy draft made teams with multiple great scorers like the one with dame and Bradley beal. I'd love to see this tried again with regular teams over a few seasons.

The Remote Rebuild Challenge:
Choose a team from either conference but don't take control of it. Then choose a team from the other conference and do take control of it.
Without having any influence on them it's now the goal to turn the team you don't control into NBA champions by aquiring the players yourself and then trading them over to the other team, building a championship roster for them.
If this seems too easy the goal should then be to also rebuild your own team and having both the team you control and the one you remotely rebuilt meet in the finals to see if you can take down the surefire roster you gave them.

Really love the idea of this challenge Kenny! Given how the league rules have changed to empower offenses, and the subsequent rise in offensive rating (League average was 107 in 1986, 103 in 2004, and 115 in 2023), I’m not sure how possible it is to break into the 90’s, though I do think it’s a worthy goal to shoot for. If you do decide to go relative to the league, the best mark ever is from the 2004 Pistons (with Rasheed Wallace), who posted a mark 13 points better than league average (90.9). I also think you could beat the Wizards given they are about 7 points ahead or he league.

One thing you could try, that would be super annoying, is constantly change your defensive strategy for each opponent. Protect the paint against bad shooting teams, and try and make the shots harder against good shooting teams

This is a great challenge I don’t know if 2k sim will truly allow a defensive rating so low but this will certainly make me try it out myself!
Same, Will adjust some tendencies and use slow tempo on offense
For example, I don't want ad shooting 3s, I want him close to the basket, might have a guy like John Collins instead of a Walker kessler for example because he always Shoote like 55+% fg off the bench... Get guys like AD and bam because they can switch...

Challenge: do 14-15 fantasy drafts and build a team with the last overall picks of each draft
feel like it couldve been done if you changed from protect the paint and protect the 3 depending on the roster of the opposition, game where you gave up 75, the team had no shooters and the game where you gave up 138, had dame and beal.

You should try to get every starting on your team to an all nba team. It could be an all defensive or all nba as you prefer
You could have gameplanned for each team individually. You could have set it so where you packed the paint for teams like the pelicans with scottie and mobley, and then defended the perimeter heavily against teams like the pacers with beal and lillard, and do this for every team.
You good I think you should run the big man
For something like this I gotta look at their defensive tendencies too and try and find players wit like an 80+ shot contest along with the A+ interior/perimeter defense rating

You still gotta try the alphabet challenge where for the first 41 games of the season the first player starts with A the second with B and so on. The for the last 41 games you have N and then O and then P and so on.❤❤
@iraqsandtoast if you did the defensive plan specific to each team you might have been able to do it. When you lost to Beal and dame you could have focused on perimeter instead of the paint and it may have helped also maybe double team the stars

Day 1 of asking Kenny to do a reversing nba history sim. Basically you start in the magic vs bird era and you reverse the classes so instead of 84 draft class u would do 2022 and would sim like this with draft classes reversed until the 2022-2023 season
Challenge idea: the Chamberlain challenge. 3 seasons to get a player to get a quintuple double. Fantasy draft, trade for and build a team around your guy. Every year you get to add 10 badges of your choosing but you can’t touch there stats.
Do this challenge in the Jordan era (Fantasy draft)

Every time i do rebuilds defense always does the best. Ive done best shooters , best dunkers and even best playmakers. Defense always runs a muk on the league
Kenny you should try winning a championship with only players you drafted (you can trade for players that the team your playing has previously drafted that got traded too)

I try to do a few defense oriented rebuilds and everytime those teams are elite with nothing but mid 80s and we dominate winning 90-85

The NBA INFINTY STONES challenge (extremely hard):
Compose a starting 5.
- One player has to become the all time assist leader.
- One player has to become the all-time scoring leader
- One player has to become the all-time rebound leader
- One player has to become the all-time block leader
- One player has to have the most played games of all-time
If you can complete it atleast see how close you were to completing it. You are allowed to change tendencies
Try it with the all time rosters
The triple crown challenge
Win the Summer League, be the best team (in the conference is fine if need be) in the G league, and win the NBA championship in the same season. No g league player is allowed to be a higher overall then the highest ranking g league player currently in the game (no clue who that is lol). Also if you wanna make it really interesting you could then tank and do the tournament thingy for the lottery that can pop up in the change rules
