Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing in 2013 at Wacken Open Air festival, in front of a 82k+ audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
I'm glad you decide to check Floor Jansen's "day job" as a main singer of Nightwish, after you reacted to her final performance in Beste Zangers. You are very expressive in your emotional reaction, so I get you love it :) I am convinced that you will continue this wild ride with us.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

I don't think I've *ever* heard "Wow!" so many times in a single reaction before! This one really brought me back to the first time I heard Nightwish, and the first time I watched this performance...

all this concert, wacken 2013, is epic and deserves to be seen and reacted song by song, I suggest these: "song of myself", "storytime" and "ever dream".
this performance of "ghost love score" is one of the three best performances of the nightwish band, together with "the poet and the pendulum" live in the 2015 concert at the london wembley arena and "the greatest show on earth" live in the 2015 concert in tampere - finland.
This is why i like reaction channels so much. People who react to songs they have never heard before, because if you have already listened to the song beforehand, you can tell by the response. I literally got tears in my eyes because of your beautiful response.

Perfectly honest, genuine reaction (how many "Wow's"?) I remember first listening to 'Ghost Love Score' and had the chills, goosebumps, teary eyes etc. it was like a religious experience! I am 68 years old and during my lifetime have listened to a lot of music , and seen a lot of bands. I can honestly say that Nightwish has had the most emotionally, musically and awe inspiring effect on me than any other band.

We have another almost impossibly good female Dutch singer. Maybe not to the taste of all metal lovers, but... She started (self-taught by listening and singing along with YT video's) at the age of 7, and won Holland's got Talent at 8. She is now a very accomplisched coloratura soprano living in her mother's homecountry South Africa.
Her name is Amira Willighagen, and she is about 17 now I think. Beautiful voice...
Now THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is a true Floorgasm. Hell yeah

Well I have to admit... I try to control myself, thinking I will just see what the new listeners have to say, as I have watched the performance of "Ghost Love Score" a thousand times, especially this one... And, as many will have guessed, I just stay and watch it all over again. It is intoxicating, and always gives same huge rush of emotion, that Floor just passes to us with every note and every movement of her body! Did you notice how great her body language is to support the lyrics, and how she just rules the crowd with a sign of her hand?
Also great choice for any of us to whom English is not the mother tongue - to watch the song with lyrics! As those are some deeply felt words that drive home the full impact of unrequited love! You probably noticed the frantic chanting of the choir at the very end, which adds a final touch to back up the oath "My fall will be for you" - saying "You were the one to cut me, so I will bleed forever"...
In addition to mastery of composition (and you may know they were among the founders of the Symphonic metal genre), NIGHTWISH have some of the most poetic lyrics in all of modern music. All together they create an experience that leaves grown people crying, transfixed. The dark lyric soprano of original vocalist Tarja [that's the name! ;)] was beautiful, rich, mysterious and remains unique, but Floor has mastered that special tone in her voice which basically breaks any listener's defences at will... beside her being able to sing basically anything.
For the variety of Floor's technique, you could check more of her performances in "Beste Zangers", or her side project NORTHWARD with Jorn Viggo Lofstad; or "Yours Is an Empty Hope" live at Wembley. And for the heart melting qualities... why not pick a new song or two: "Shoemaker" or the live acoustic version of "How's the Heart"? Thank you for sharing the beauty.

We call this band that played in Wacken called "Dream Team." But today, they are perhaps the "Super Team". Possibly the best live band in the world right now. The best female metal vocalist. The best composer of our time (man behind the keyboards, metal Mozart). Tuomas's music + Floor's singing = killer combination.

Easily the shortest 10 minute song in history. It just goes by so quickly! It never tires listening to this song.
The music is called symphonic metal and is very populair in Europe and South America. The band is from Finland and founded in 1996. So far the band has had 3 vocalists
1 Tarja Turunen (Finish) pure opera voice also very good live. (until 2005)
2 Anette Olzon (Schwedish) more pop style. fine in the studio but not good live. (until 2012)
3 Floor Jansen* (Dutch) (current). * She is the vocalist you saw in this clip. She has a classical vocal background education and can sing any style she likes from jazz to opera high to growling low. Believe me when i tell you you have not even scratched the surface yet of what she's capable of.

The clip was shot a few months after Floor jointed the band right in the middle of their US leg of the world tour. They asked her to join after tensions between the previous (Anette) vocalist and the rest of the band had rissen so high that they fired her. With close to a year still to go to complete the tour, and their next concert planned 2 day later they, needed a replacement fast. They called Floor because she had toured with them when she was part of the support bands"After Forever" and later "Revamp" on several occasions and they were quiet impressed by her vocals (who would not be?). She only had 2 days, including a flight from the Netherlands to the US, to learn the setlist and only had one rehearsal with the band a couple of hours before her first show and nailed it. Since they were making a documentary about the world-tour a lot of what happened was recorded. Well, now you saw Floor in a... more proper setting) Small note: Jansen pronounced as "Yansen" she is Dutch ;) Floor has classical background, rock academy behind, and used to be a vocal coach for a number of years. Floor is the most versatile and powerful female singer today and can sing anything from more pop-y style, classic opera, to metal screams and growls. Floor is a queen of singing emotions.
Floor joined Nightwish in the middle of their Imaginaerum world tour in late 2012 (which includes this show from August 2013). Previous singer, Anette Olzon (she's currently in Dark Element) left the band while they were touring, and there was no certainty what to do with all the upcoming shows. They called Floor (her previous band did tour with NW in the past, and they knew each other). Floor flew immediately to help them out and temporarily replace Anette for the rest of the world tour. She arrived two days before the next show, and she had only 48 hours to learn the entire setlist. And she did. For Floor it was first really big gig with Nightwish, 82K people, at the time she was only for a few months with the band. After the world tour (in October 2013), they made Floor their official member. This song was performed at the end of 90min show, at the 1hr 10min mark.
Nightwish formed in '96 in Finland, initially with Tarja (Tar-ya) Turunen as a vocalist. She left the band in 2005, and Anette Olzon stepped in, until 2012.
The bassist with a cool beard is Marco, and he sings some parts too. He has his own solo project outside the Nightwish.
The mastermind behind 99% of lyrics and music is a keyboardist Tuomas.
Guitarist name is Emppu, and the drummer in this show is Jukka (Yukka), but later he was replaced by Kai Hahto because of health issues.
Flutes/uilleann pipes/guitar/vocals - Troy, he did not perform in this song.
Nightwish is better live, always, so if live performance is available, go for it. In their performances, they often using recorded backtrack of a classical orchestra for their songs.
They have very diverse music, from more light songs to epic scores like this, and to really heavy metal stuff.

in my humble opinion, this is the best live performance, ever … the Queen of Valkyries … and not to forget the absolutely amazing talent on that stage beyond Floor … from the song writing to the total,performance including the amazing drummer … all in all an 10/10 plus

The best thing with discovering Nightwish is definitly the fun and joy when watching their live videos... such a great mood on stage, they have a lot of fun and do a hell of show and insane songs. Daily dose of happiness ;)
