There are ways to make a true wii portable. By trimming the motherboard, soldering extra parts, and using custom software you can get a portable wii.

The wheel is just a piece of plastic, you can just use a Wii remote on its side. You can also use a Wii Remote and nunchuk, Classic Controller, or GameCube controller.
