He already has knowing him!! LOL. Just like the 2 small grooves ahead of the patch he just put in. Because he knows it is there it will be like a brain worm driving him batshit.
I think the factory tie down holes look good. It gives it character and still looks like something that came out of the factory. JMO. The buckets look fantastic.
That's my guess too. If Tye was done using it on the Dale truck then selling to our friends at KSR may have been the plan all along. Good call gents if it was. Basically a rental for cleet and kev gets a MUCH needed tool at a reasonable price. Seems to me like something they'd do for each other.
As a street stock roundy round guy in the 90s, we did almost that much front clip mod work for tubular a-arms and front jacker bolts to sit on Afco springs and we had a high chance of wrecking it all every week. It sucks modding and changing a clip in 5 days when in the points chase... From near Pro Mod to SCCA Vipers and burnout cars to anything in between, You can do it all, Great work Kevin! WIN WITH KSR!
That was a nice job you did filling in that big hole in the frame rail. It may or may not add any strength but it certainly looks nicer and should keep a bunch of crud from getting in there and keep the inside from rusting. Great work!
That looks really freakin cool! Little powder coat and she'll be snazzy! Cant wait to see what it looks like with suspension and brakes all nice and new.
I love how even on a part of the car that will never be touched again, even being buffed out so you cant see the welds, you TIG welded it. Those tiny gaps would have been just fine under MIG, but you took the hard road and did it the best way possible.
Kevin, no need for any explanation. Sunday…Sunday…Sunday…Is Cutlass Day..Forgit you and the team were at Bowling Green, was looking for the video😢. Glad you guys are back and thanks for all of the videos, especially the Cutlass build. 4k is nice!!!!
I look so forward to the Sunday vids. As an ex-street racer that ran the streets in Orlando with an Olds 442, it’s so cool to see an older Cutlass built from scratch(ish). Keep up the great work.
I like the idea of the tubes inside the frame. I would do one on each side. Run your wiring through one. Brake lines or something else down the other. Helps to clean up the engine bay a bit. I'm digging the progress on the Cutlass and the other projects.
Kevin, from one welder to another, regarding to the jump on the frame rail, k stead of cutting it out just split it with a death wheel , heat it and hammer it back flat. May have to keep trimming in your split but I think it would be better.
Good job Kevin, I like your attention to detail! You might already know this, ...Back in the 70's, when leaving Bakersfield CA. to go to the Friday night Bracket Races at Formosa Dragstrip, we stopped at MacDonald's for dinner and gasket material. The sacks became our gasket material if we needed to replace a gasket in the engine. We'd tape the sack over the area that needed a gasket and then tap it with a ball Peen hammer and ,voilà, instant gasket, worked good in a 600HP engine, ...even on the intake manifold. Those front frame rails would be a perfect place to try it, tape the Manila envelop on the top and bottom of the frame rails and you'll have your pattern much quicker. Lord bless from Tahiti, Karl
You might also want to look into a throat less shear for doing some of that intricate work where you are pecking away at making cuts due to band saw throat not being deep enough. I have a somewhat unique idea for motor mounts for the cutlass since you said it may get an engine transplant from the olds later in life to possibly keep the powder coat from getting ground off.
Hello, about hitting a hammer with a hammer - best done with a brass or copper faced hammer. When you hit a hardened hammer face against another hardened hammer face they can send off chips at amazing velocity, my father carried a piece of hammer face in his forearm to the day he died.
I know you don’t do a ton of metal forming, but I think if you just got it cut out for the top and tacked the top in. Then you can just hammer off of the factory radius. Then cut both sides at once and weld up. That is similar to how a lot of custom bodywork so done.
Car is coming along nicely. Been seeing both Steve and Garrett are going with e-gates on the intake. Are you considering that as well? Maybe using a single turbo eliminates the need.
Shop equipment power If you don't have 3 phase power in the shop and want to run motorized 3 phase stuff, it is possible to get a inverter / vector drive / variable frequency drive ( VFD ) that will accept single phase and output 3 phase. This comes in handy when you want to slow down / speed up things like a drill press / saw. If you are running something larger than 3 hp from single phase, a rotary converter / idler motor is a better choice. The best way to think of 3 ph vs 1 ph is 3 Ph is a 3 cylinder motor and 1 ph is a single cylinder motor.
What a lot of people don't know, is that when a a builder is doing his own stuff, a lot of that is R & D for simple stuff that will benefit customers. Try the tube in the frame rail.
Yeah that last weld is a good candidate for the mig welder. There were many times where the tig just wasn't a good choice. Mig don't care about being dirty... well not so much anyhow. BTW my OCD has been killing me about those frame cut outs.... I was hoping you'd box them in. Looks great!
“It’s on the bottom! You can’t se it!” You know he will go back and fill it because Kevin being Kevin! 😂
You’re probably right
He already has knowing him!! LOL. Just like the 2 small grooves ahead of the patch he just put in. Because he knows it is there it will be like a brain worm driving him batshit.
Just knowing it's there will send me back to fix it, no batter who else can see it later....
Hey Mr. K., congrats on the new tool and your Cutlass is coming along great! Thanks again for sharing your time and projects.
Nice to see the improvements to the shop.
I’m sure the boys will appreciate it!
EXCELLENT metal work on the frame Kevin, you are a master! Cool new addition to your shop tool inventory. The Cutlass is slowly coming together!
Looking awesome. Your attention to detail is paying off.
I think the factory tie down holes look good. It gives it character and still looks like something that came out of the factory.
JMO. The buckets look fantastic.
That curved plate looks nice in there. Awesome work as always!
You will NOT regret buying that Bandsaw---it will make your life much easier to have a real machine like that.
KSR Cutlass FTW
Dang man!
Congrats on the DoAll bandsaw!!
I can’t wait to get this Gutlass Cutlass together and hear the turbo feeding your olds engine!! I’ve owned gbodies and my friends gbodies go fast.
That 4K is crispy! Excited to see the finished product on the Cutlass.
Hot dam, getting a chassis table! I'll volunteer my 68 Malibu as the first project!

Cleetus had it for sale of Facebook a couple of weeks ago.
Great update! Tech tips , and showing some nice work on that frame rail. That band saw is something I dream about. Many thanks.
Hurray...more Cutlass content on Sunday.... good stuff...thanks...🔧🔧👍
Lol monday for me😂😂😂
It's looking great Kevin 👍
That swag portaband band saw stand is a wonderful thing for a small garage shop. Your new one is awesome!
Visualizing. With Vision.

Probably an up and coming top gymnastics coach too soon enough..
That is a sexy frame! Love the filler panel

I just enjoy your craftsmanship! So enjoyable to watch.
The frame coming along nicely yes indeed cool shop tool too..,...💯🙂👍🙏🏁

Had to work late today hell yeah brother
Kevin, you rock! Keep up the beautiful work. Peace

The metal work you’re doing looks amazing. Good job!
Love this build still! Told you Saturday at LS Fest I’d love to just send you my frame to do it as well
Looks good! I like the way you boxed in those spring pockets

4k hurts my computer's little heart lmao! Love that it's come so far already! The tiny elephant bites is getting it done
Always appreciate your videos Kevin, can you talk a bit about welding chrome moly to mild steel and vice versa
Thanks much
I really enjoy your attention to detail !! Another Great video Kevin
Thank you for the video. Progress is dood.
Me too! I think it’s awesome.
Damn nice job Kevin.
Can't go wrong with the doall
That bandsaw has a great place to put stickers😅
those old DoAll saws are awesome! we have a huge one at work that has a band welder built into it..
Kevin, from one welder to another, regarding to the jump on the frame rail, k stead of cutting it out just split it with a death wheel , heat it and hammer it back flat. May have to keep trimming in your split but I think it would be better.
Sunday is Buick day!
That’s a piece of art…… very nice……👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Looks great Kev tell you what man I wish I had hi the lottery bro you be doing a 25/3 cert on my 67 mustang, one day one day I hope
Slowly but surely it's coming along. 👍
That bandsaw is going to speed things up a bit. Good grab.
Just bought a 100 pack, I’ll start sticking them the day I get them.

selfish me. I don't care what the schedule is I just look forward to the cutlass build on Sunday Give it up KSR...

Probably could put a weight jack bolt there to hold the top coil over to the car?
Great video kev!
Woohoo! Cutlass Sunday! ☕️👀
Great content thanks for sharing
I've had my SWAG port-a-band table for a few years, and it's one of the best purchases I have ever made. I love it!
I love you guys I’m happy to be part of your shop I’m look forward into work with you
Man, Kevin, Youre welding is second to none brother.
Kevin were you thinking "portaband"? LOL.
Nope, couldn't remember the name of it to save my life, haha! That's definitely the name I wanted to be thinking of in that moment though!
Sunday Sunday Sunday Sunday……….. Cutloose Oldsmobubble day……..yah…….. go Kevin…..👍👍🫡🫡
Whoo! That crispy video
Hoping you bought that chassis table he was selling! Would be a big upgrade for the shop.
KSR Cutlass SunDay FunDay
Good job , Kevin. The filler in the spring pocket really improves the appearance.
I figured you bought the chassis table.. lol
Kevin bought a new one because he was saying to himself "That little bandsaw doesn't cut it." 😁😁😁
Kevin, you are gonna need a bigger shop!!!
Yeeeep, we are well past that point!
@@KSRPerformanceFabrication It’s a slippery slope! You are doing great with what you have though, that’s for sure.
@@KSRPerformanceFabrication That's a great problem to have!
Porta Ban I believe is the word you were looking for
Hell, yeah brother, let’s go
Hello, about hitting a hammer with a hammer - best done with a brass or copper faced hammer. When you hit a hardened hammer face against another hardened hammer face they can send off chips at amazing velocity, my father carried a piece of hammer face in his forearm to the day he died.
Wow that looks so awesome kevin keep up the great work.
one of the most used tools in my shop. you will wish you had it sooner
Chassis table
Alrighty Kevin, nothing better than waking up to a new vid.
I need kevin to redo the rollcage in the race car i just bought lol, one of the few shops i would trust with my car.

Love this build and really enjoying learning different tricks and ways of doing things im about to the point im ready to do my little driveway build
Yes Sir Kevin Its still hot and ugly here in Fla. Let's get some KSR cool ties merchandise going I gave ya a few samples at the Gators .
Shop equipment power

We have 3 Phase here at the shop.
cant wait till you are in the final stages of getting the cutlass started up ,I know you still got a ways to go but a lil at a time
Nice buy from garrett!
Think about e-gates on the intake side of the turbo system
What a lot of people don't know, is that when a a builder is doing his own stuff, a lot of that is R & D for simple stuff that will benefit customers. Try the tube in the frame rail.
Obviously you have a Swag Offroad portaband stand but have you looked at the ReadySaw ?
My moneys on that Kevin bought the chassis table from Cleet
Damn! And I thought I was indecisive about my project!! But I am limited on budget, not decisions.
Creating a conduit for stuff makes it clean and makes dead space useful … but anything with fluid can hide its leaks
🍺
Yeah that last weld is a good candidate for the mig welder. There were many times where the tig just wasn't a good choice. Mig don't care about being dirty... well not so much anyhow. BTW my OCD has been killing me about those frame cut outs.... I was hoping you'd box them in. Looks great!
Use a brass hammer or a dead blow to hit the other hammer. Hitting two hardened metals together can make them shatter.
😎🤙
Jetson! You're late! lol just kidding.
Clearcoat over one bug and call it Cleeter the Skeeter.
YES YES AND MORRRREEEEEEEE YESSSSSSSSSSS!
