I wish Carlos Santana would live to 200 years old so all humans can enjoy his love and music. What a great man.Rock on Mr Santana. We all love your music.
This theme is the most beautiful piece ever made. No minutes shredding festival, but careful chosen chunks of melody which still surprise me, after having heard it so many times. Samba Pa Ti is Carlos demonstrating composing and guitar skills at the same time. Lets listen again.
I recently bought an old Yamaha SG 1000 tobacco sunburst guitar and it's definitely one of the best sounding guitars I've ever played. Definitely up there with my Les Pauls.
I love this song that you’re playing I could listen this is in times a day oh it’s really great I really feel it too God bless you and keep them coming Mary
Masterful wouldn't even be enough to describe his style.. It's even way beyond cosmic.. As though everything inside his heart, soul and thoughts emanate through whatever brand of guitar he wields.. But of all the guitars he held, his godly choice of notes totally said their best when played on a Yamaha SG (hands down).. ❤
I have a '77 SG2000 in black. Have had it for many years. In the far future, Gibson Les Pauls will be Stradvari and SG2000s will be Guarneri. Nothing touches them for that one, unbeatable tone...
That's right! So many people forget (or don't realize) that the MESA/Boogie Mark I had as much to do with his classic tone and sustain back in the day.
Every single note has feeling. It's all about the music. Not one element of "hey look how fast I can play." New generation of guitar players, take note.
Jesus, this is the Lord singing. experienced this live, and could feel the love energy coming through into my hands. he spoke and he explained what he was doing, which is self-evident. 'Somos rodeados, completemente rodeados, con Angeles'
Great video, thank you ! What a beautiful guitar. I like this Yamaha much better than the PRS that he plays now. My all time favorite was the sunburst Les Paul Deluxe he played from 71 through 74....and then came the Gibson L6-s which I liked too. I'd rather see him playing his original Gibson SG than the PRS's......I just don't like his tone as much now. It sounds over processed and synthetic to my ears. The Gibson Les Paul he played with the Mesa Boogie Mk 1 had a haunting and beautiful tone I haven't heard him get since. God bless.
Totally agree but carlos has also changed his amp setting and use both Mesa Boogie Mark I, Dumble and Bludotone amp. Even during his long time with PRS his guitar tone has changed considerably. Just watch clips of Santana mid 80s vs. 90's until new. His guitar tone became more bluesy (less trebled) and he always works both the volume and treble knob to get different tones. More recently Carlos has started to use PRS single cut (very similar layout as Gibson Les Paul and the beloved Yamaha SG2000), which gives him even more tonal options.
Pete's favourite piece of guitar playing. I chose it to be played as we walked into church behind his West Ham coffin. Forever and a day or two brownie, I love you, always xxx
Yes he did, that's why he married me. Could I ask you a favour? My computer is playing up, Won't let me into Windows and can only access the Internet for emails etc. Please tell everyone I am fine but out of touch at the moment. Thanks flower. xxx
Thank you for this upload. I was 13 at the time and i saw the show in Belgium in '81, german television. Rockpalast was on sundays between 0:00 and 1:00. Always a fight with the parents to see the show.
I agree that Carlos never sounded better than with the Yamaha - I saw him live in Vienna in the late 70ies, sitting 1st row with the son of one of the band on my knees 😅 - the sound reminds me on a Stradivarius violin, warm but with great silky overtones
BluesLicks101 There is another matter. Although Carlos live always plays well, from about 72' onto maybe the early 80's, Carlos heavily utilized a lot of jazz ideas in his solos. He still uses those ideas, but maybe only 50% of the time he used to. I do agree that the Yamaha SG(whatever) overall was a rather more versatile and colorful sounding guitar than the PRS guitars Carlos now plays. It's true, sometimes he sounds as if he has a distortion pedal built into the PRS. Just remember, though, If Carlos really wanted a sweeter, or more velvety tone, he could play with his amp knobs more, but apparently he likes his current sound.
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I was looking for this vid all week! I wanted to hear samba pa ti being played on the Yamaha... just to compare it to my playing and see how bad I sound :)
That Yamaha SG sounds incredible, he had used this Guitar in many songs like Europa.Carlos is one of the Greatest Guitar player that ever lived.
Yes , comparing the different guitars throughout the years, this one is the sweetest Viva Santana!
Privilegiados los elegidos por el altísimo para crear belleza en este mundo y hacer felices a los demás. Santana es uno de ellos.

dig it

Don't get me started on how great Carlos is. And this song? Unreal. Smoking hot guitar work, so soulful and smooth.
This is without doubt, one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever performed. carlos the maestro.
So beuatiful - they don't play guitar players like Carlos these days. Perfect sense of melody and time sequence. Great video.
I could listen to Santana all day long

Great stuff. I never tire of Santana.
his Yamaha guitar ad the best tone, sound and sustain ever that he doesn’t have anymore with his PRS
Totally agree 100%!!

Can listen over and over. Joy/bliss for me every time. Carlos, you are the Buddha of the guitar !
I love this song that you’re playing I could listen this is in times a day oh it’s really great I really feel it too God bless you and keep them coming Mary
.saw this band in germany.armando on congas.carlos playing his Yamaha guitar and Boogie.the best sound he ever had.beautiful times.
Love that Yamaha guitar Carlos played back then. Combined with the Boogie amps and whatever effects he was using = AWESOME tone!
In 1980, it might have been a Boogie Mk II, but I'm not sure.
I love this man and this song! Grew up in the bay area so went to MANY of his concerts!
Same here. Winterland was my favorite music place.

That Guitar is infused with some Spiritual Power. Part of Carlos's Soul resides there. It should sell for $20 - $30 Million. Priceless to me.
That's a Yamaha SG guitar. Santana definitely bringing out the best in it!
Love Santana’s music keep it coming😅
I LOVE LOVE THIS SONG, never get tire of listening to it, Carlos Santana orgullo MERICANO 😻😍💔💋
This is the track that turned me into a Santana fan, way back in 1970 or so...
His guitar can put you in a trance.

Agree. That yamaha was awesome in his hands
Jesus, this is the Lord singing. experienced this live, and could feel the love energy coming through into my hands. he spoke and he explained what he was doing, which is self-evident. 'Somos rodeados, completemente rodeados, con Angeles'
estamos, no somos, but I understand the sentiment. :)

Grande entre los grandes..espectacular!!
That Yamaha guitar just SANG... so pissed off when he went to Paul Reed Smith and lost the magic tone this guitar had.
I like the prs more. Sounds more clean.
+Anthony Blend That because you have flannel flaps for ears. NOTHING beats his 70 - early - 80's tone.
+BluesLicks101 +BluesLicks101 may Satana have flannel flaps too, and only you have this kind of special ears. :)
Unique Yamaha Tone >>>>> Copycat PRS Tone.

Um clássico do rock que valeu trilha sonora em filme brasileiro. Imperdível para as gerações atuais.
Música eternamente na minha mente e coração .
Very beautiful and very soulful!!!!
hymn of the 2012's Epic! always brings a tear to my eyes. wish music was like this today.Carlos you are the best.
My parents had their first kiss with this master piece of music
Just amazing!
That Yamaha SG gave Carlos his BEST voice ever. Wish he'd dump that damned PRS, sounds like its covered in dust.
BluesLicks101 I wasn’t the only one thinking the same thing; more like a blanket on top of the speaker

No note keeps itself hidden on the guitar scale when Carlos Santana plays on. He aways goes and finds it.
Legend.
