Mic, I don’t know about hair loss but wanted to mention that using “The Daily Dozen” vegan food guide along with some daily exercise has helped me lose quit a bit of weight in a rather short period of time. I don’t have an exact figure but it is maybe 20 pounds or more in about 2 months. Still have at least 10 more to lose and am being quite regimented in meeting the Daily Dozen goals which makes it PRACTICAL to be a Vegan. Thanks for your videos!
We have two Rosemary bushes in our garden at home and we have to prune it regularly so my mum read that it helps hair loss so she used it throughout a year and managed to reduce her hair loss significantly that her hairstylist commented her much healthier hair. I’m experiencing some issues with my scalp so I’m gonna try it myself. 🤞🏻
@@jewlstah2010 First we wash Rosemary cuttings and cut them into smaller pieces. After that we submerge them into boiling water and leave them soaking for 24 hours, although I usally do it for just a couple of hours. After soaking we strain the infusion from Rosemary pieces and before using it we heat it up a bit so it’s warm. We use the infusion after washing hair by pouring it gradually onto scalp.
Yes let us know how the castor oil works out! I almost bought some recently, I wish I had. Thinning hair from PCOS I’m gonna try plant-based diet too :)
@@3005511 I don't understand how any oil added to shampoo can work. Shampoo is designed to strip oil from your hair and scalp. It makes more sense to add rosemary and castor oil to conditioner.
My hair splits less at the ends, since I started using rye flour+water as a shampoo. It removes a lot of the oils, but not all, letting the sebum cover your hair over time. This made my hair thicker and able to cope with the elements. It doesn't look greasy, just shiny and strong. There are many videos on this!
I need to know how to use these practically like the rosemary extract, I can’t just put any lotion onto my scalp and hair… I want to know how to help myself
There's alot of research on peppermint and menthol, as well. Interestingly enough, menthol used to be a common ingredient in old-fashioned hair tonics. Another good plant ingredient is quinine, which used to be used in Victorian hair tonics, such as Eau de Quinine. It definitely has a stimulating effect on the scalp. Personally, I use Nizoral shampoo and Yanagiya hair tonic, a Japanese hair tonic that has menthol, ginseng, licorice, and several traditional medicine herbs. It seems to have slowed the rate of hair loss quite a bit.
There is an herb used in India called Neem🌿 It can be gotten online or at brick & mortar stores that specialize in near and far east cuisine. That herb is wonderful as well for hair growth.
I'm surprised you didn't talk about dermapen/dermaroller, seems to be a very effective treatment for hair loss and there have been very promising results showed in research.
By Rosemary what he means is both rosemary extract and rosemary essential oil. I suggest using both if you can on your head as a moisturizer. I dont think eating it or pouring the spice on your head will do as much
Bought the rosemary oil and rice bran oil today! (Anything to keep the hair on my head) I trust Mic and his research. Question/statement: i was going to mix the rosemary oil and rice bran oil and leave it on over night, but not sure about levels/mixing these ingredients.
I've been using rosemary oil for a few months and my scalp is much less irritated, I assume I'll see the hair benefits once I've been using it long term.
Hey Mic! I just wanted to let you and your audience know, it’s a common misconception that baldness only comes from your mother’s side 0:58 - other factors are also in play. The hereditary factor is slightly more dominant on the mother’s side, but research suggests that men who have a bald father are far more likely to develop male pattern baldness than those who don't. It almost an even split in possibilities- No need to blame just our moms. 😊
Can attest this ia true, everyone on my mothers side has amazing hair, as did I, several years ago. I started losing hair at 23-24 and still ongoing (still no exact reason for this, despite tests).
I learned about Stinging Nettle Root on one guy's TH-cam video and found there were a lot of studies on its effect to DHT. I bought a year's supply and am hoping to see some change.
My grandfather and my ex-husband both grew red beards and/or sideburns. Even though they didn’t have red hair. Neither of them was ever vegetarian or vegan. They both had Celtic ancestry, (Irish/Scottish). I’m sure the trait for the color of their beards came from their Celtic genes.

I lost a lot of hair because of stress some years back. I used to treat my hair with henna a lot at the time. It made my hair thicker and fuller. It did eventually grow back, even though the stress never really went away as the situation that had originally caused it never got resolved. Maybe my body just got used to the stress. But the henna did help my hair quite a bit.
I have PCOS, and after taking three cycles 😦 of Acutane for the hormonal acne, I lost a lot of hair. Then after two kids, lost more. I used Minoxidil in a women’s formula and after 3 months, it started to effect my vision. I’ve tried Rosemary and massage, with limited results. Finally started using a product called Vegamour, which stopped any excessive hair loss, and is regrowing hair around my hair line and crown. I’m very happy!
I am currently experimenting with fermented rice water and also turmeric tea, to compare their respective benefits on hair growth. I did have some success with green tea back in the days, but I can’t have it anymore, it prevents me from sleeping… I ‘ll hit you back when I have my results 😉

I make a tea for for other health reasons but one of the ingredients is tumeric powder and I drink it for about a week then take a break and start up again. My wife noticed that the bald spot on my head has more hair. So I may drink my tea more often. It is mainly a detox tea that also boosts metabolism I lost about 10 lbs in a month. Now I am also eating better, less magnesium which I understand can cause hair loss if you have too much of it so always filtered water for drinking and coffee. Very hard water where we live.I also started exercising to keep that weight off.

Regarding curcumin -- I find that really interesting. Of all the benefits I've read about it, I'd not heard of it being good for hair growth. I've been taking pure curcumin (not tumeric) for several years; and, I can testify that, for me, it has done zero for my hair. As for rosemary, years ago I read about it, and it was said that treating your hair with it is what works (and at high concentrations), so just washing with it isn't going to do much. It said that for some benefit, though, to use it in a hair rinse after the shampooing, and then to not rinse it off will help. Nice research!
This is totally anecdotal, but it seems you're also showing the same pattern of non-male-pattern baldness. My maternal grandpa went bald by 27. Almost completely. I always expected I would too, but never really worried about it. However, I was raised vegetarian and went vegan at 35, and my hair at 43 is as thick, healthy and full as it ever was. I've always assumed it was the lack of testosterone consumption in my diet, which is a similar explanation given by Tony Wright for accelerated development and reduced brain function over the last 200,000 years in our species. I'd love to hear your take on both my hypothesis and that of Tony's if you've read "Return to the Brain of Eden." Thanks!

I would also add to get your vitamin levels checks, especially for B12, vitamin D, and iron. thyroid checks are also important if are you having hair loss. keep in mind, losing up to 100-150 hairs a day is considered a normal amount of shedding.
My entire family, especially my dad and all grandparents are strongly balding. I don't think with that genetic baggage, any of this would help, but still interesting
What is the point of consulting yr doctor? We r always being told they have very little learning in nutrition, plus at this time it is very difficult to see one for a illness let alone anything else!
For one its just 'playing the game'. For 2 it forces the doctors to consider things they learned nothing about and perhaps question why they know nothing about them. For 3 it keeps the audience aware (if they are smart) of the rhetorical bogus relation between MDs and the real science available.

Hey Mike! Can you do a video about plant based foods and vitiligo? I became vegan - whole food plant based - a year and a half ago, but two months ago I developed vitiligo. All my lab results are good so I was wondering if there is a specific nutrient missing or if there are some plants that are good for this condition. Thank you and keep up the amazing work you do!
Think about testing for nutrients like amino acids (Tyrosine, BCAA, etc), Vitamin B12, Folate, PABA, Copper, Iron,.. Besides predisposition, oxidative stress (Hydrogen peroxide buildup in skin) and some other factors, deficiency in these nutrients can aggrevate Vitiligo, as well as graying of hair.
@@moonietenshi You are welcome- I developed Vitiligo in a stressful time and also because of nutrient deficiencies that went hand in hand- since I have managed my nutrients, avoided most allergens und reduced stressors (a bit), the skin condition has stopped from getting worse- it even improved in a few spots :) good luck!
Good God. And with the way his face looks as well? He’s clearly got something going on. He needs to use all the filters like all the other TH-camrs use!!
I've heard that the hair genetics from your mom's father is a myth. I guess you get it from both sides pretty much equally. Would like to know your thoughts!
The problem is that it’s not entirely true, but the maternal genetics can play an amplifying or reducing role, given that it’s a polygenic trait and parts of it can be inherited from both sides with particularly strong/known genes from the mother’s father.

It definitely has its place, but within a reference range and it’s unlikely to be necessary in very high concentrations in terms of its downstream impact on localised areas such as the scalp. There are ways to mediate this without going into the realm of outright eliminating DHT conversion from the body.

How are you using it?
@@jewlstah2010 First we wash Rosemary cuttings and cut them into smaller pieces. After that we submerge them into boiling water and leave them soaking for 24 hours, although I usally do it for just a couple of hours. After soaking we strain the infusion from Rosemary pieces and before using it we heat it up a bit so it’s warm. We use the infusion after washing hair by pouring it gradually onto scalp.
@@barbarafriscic615 how is it going
And I just started using minoxidil, I also have Castor oil with Rosmary oil
Keep us updated on its effectiveness!
Yes let us know how the castor oil works out! I almost bought some recently, I wish I had. Thinning hair from PCOS
I’m gonna try plant-based diet too :)
Me too. I'm using minoxidil. I also use aloe vera and rosemary oil and castor oil mix twice a week each
@@anthonyjames2366 minoxidil has already been proven to regrow hair.
I've tried it too. You're right! It gets silky, clean, shiny, thick, beautiful.
Rosemary is my favorite Herb. Powerful stuff.
Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo is vegan and all natural!!! (Random plug, no pun intended)
Random plug 🤣🤣🤣
Hey Mike the saw palmetto extract you're linking has bovine gelatin in it!!
Oh god I needed this!!
My partner noticed his hair thinning majorly this week. Just in time. Did the 1st rosemary treatment today!
Did it work? Hope so
I've been using rosemary oil for a few months and my scalp is much less irritated, I assume I'll see the hair benefits once I've been using it long term.
Hi Mic! Anything on Nettle? I thought it sure be on the list
It almost an even split in possibilities-
No need to blame just our moms. 😊
wow #Doctorojie herbs cured my herpes
So glad someone brought this up
Can attest this ia true, everyone on my mothers side has amazing hair, as did I, several years ago. I started losing hair at 23-24 and still ongoing (still no exact reason for this, despite tests).
I learned about Stinging Nettle Root on one guy's TH-cam video and found there were a lot of studies on its effect to DHT. I bought a year's supply and am hoping to see some change.
Is there any research on reversing hair graying?
My grandfather and my ex-husband both grew red beards and/or sideburns. Even though they didn’t have red hair. Neither of them was ever vegetarian or vegan. They both had Celtic ancestry, (Irish/Scottish). I’m sure the trait for the color of their beards came from their Celtic genes.
I'm 20% Scottish and that could be it but also I have heard it can be an Ashkenazi Jew thing and I am 30% that.
My Dad and brother both have red facial hair, and are not red heads, 100% Dutch ancestry.
Thanks for doing your research
Now can you do one on how to prevent premature greying of hair? I’ve been consuming black sesame seeds.
Hi Logan, I read that greying & white hair is as a result of copper deficiency. I just read it in, "Dead doctors don't die". Now I
am looking for a copper bracelet or copper supplement. Peace, love & health to you.🙏
@@johnthompson16 my current anti-grey hair recipe is one tablespoon of ground black sesame seeds, one tablespoon of blackstrap molasses, one teaspoon of Amla powder, one quarter teaspoon of Camu Camu powder, all mixed together and eaten alone at some point in the day between meals.
Amazing video as always!
Henna as in dying ur hair ?
I have PCOS, and after taking three cycles 😦 of Acutane for the hormonal acne, I lost a lot of hair. Then after two kids, lost more. I used Minoxidil in a women’s formula and after 3 months, it started to effect my vision. I’ve tried Rosemary and massage, with limited results. Finally started using a product called Vegamour, which stopped any excessive hair loss, and is regrowing hair around my hair line and crown. I’m very happy!
Hi, Mic. Did you run into how to fix telogen effluvium? It doesn't seem to be "temporary" for me 😔
The inclusivity of the stock footage at 0:27. So much representation.
Makes it look even more fake than your average stock footage.
Have you discussed this with Dr. Greger?
It’s like you know what I’ve been googling
I am currently experimenting with fermented rice water and also turmeric tea, to compare their respective benefits on hair growth. I did have some success with green tea back in the days, but I can’t have it anymore, it prevents me from sleeping… I ‘ll hit you back when I have my results 😉
how about quercetin ? It has no coffein/tein
Awesome information, awesome presentation, engaging with a sometimes playful sense of humor-thank you very much for posting-11/10.
I think I'll go ferment me some rosemary, curcumin, and saw palmetto, rice water tea... for free, they all grow here!
How do you ferment rice? And the rest?
nettle root is a great saw palmetto alternative. same benefits without the side effects.
Heres what i do....in a spray bottle 15 drops rosemary oil 8 drops peppermint oil 8 drops lavender oil ...mix to a sprayable concitencey with pumpkinseed oil...castor oil...olive oil ...and water...be sure to shake every use as oil and water dont mix...apply twice a week for 45 mins or over night..rince shampoo style as usual...a drop of rosemary in your conditioner is great as well.....if u can tolerate it rince hair in cold water it promotes blood flow and closes cuticle for shiner hair...also 3 or 4 times a week gently massage scalp for 10 mins ...
Rosemary is a Vasodilator eh? Wonder what else it can vasodilate??? 🤔🤔
Mic do have any information on finger nail strength, my nails have become super weak?
Is there an annual variation in hair growth anyway? Could that explain a hair growth after 6 months?
Hey Mic. Any updates on the tiny house. Been thinking about a similar project. 🤗
Ive found that my hair grew longer, faster and more glossy since I became vegan.
when I became WFPB my hairline grew back in. I have a full head of hair and I am ancient.
I’d be interested to know what you eat in a week.
Hey Mic! Can you please make a video about mycoprotein and it’s studies?
Hey would you research vegan collagen vs marine or bovine??? Please?
There is no vegan collagen. Not as a supplement anyway. There are vegan supps which may promote collagen production in our bodies. But in my opinion, they're not as good.
Thanks a lot for the info, that's some really interesting stuff 😊
Im on the 1mg finasteride and minoxidil foam and has been working great
What about pumpkin seed oil?
Rosemary oil, rice bran oil, saw palmetto oil, pink and blue ginger, possibly green tea... use them on your scalp. :)
I saved my curly hair with natural ingredients and it took me 3 years. I thought I achieved the perfect curls but at soon as I got back to conventional synthetic products, my curls get worst. So for my personal experience, natural ingredients all the life! Especially if organic.
Thanks for the video
Does drinking rosemary tea also has the same benefits as using lotion/oil?
Hey man great vid. Any idea what happens if the three natural solutions are tried together? I wonder if they cancel out or triple up😅
Regarding curcumin -- I find that really interesting.
Can you please do a video looking at the evidence of a vegan diet on children? Thank you
This is totally anecdotal, but it seems you're also showing the same pattern of non-male-pattern baldness.
Coincidentally, I read an article just last night that a topical application of lavender also promotes hair growth.
Me: *stressed about possibly losing hair*
*so stressed I actually start losing hair*
*gets more stressed!!!*
Luckily I was able to get outta that cycle and everything has grown back in thanks god.
Thanks Mike. As a lady with hair loss problems, I have often wondered if there are any natural solutions beyond doctor recommended rogain.
Can you make a video on PRP treatment for hairloss? I can't find anything to show its effectiveness
Could be that the modern diet just isn’t good for your family’s genetics. Have you tried eating a vastly different diet to your parents?
What is the point of consulting yr doctor? We r always being told they have very little learning in nutrition, plus at this time it is very difficult to see one for a illness let alone anything else!
For one its just 'playing the game'. For 2 it forces the doctors to consider things they learned nothing about and perhaps question why they know nothing about them. For 3 it keeps the audience aware (if they are smart) of the rhetorical bogus relation between MDs and the real science available.
@@JarredPearman sorry I should also have said I live in the UK everything is chaotic now and getting a doctor to allow a visit is a lengthy business Nye on impossible if u r deaf as requires phone call and more till doctor decides if u r poorly enough to b seen , don't think I would stand much chance asking questions on nutrition!
Got it. I was just trying to answer why Mic should maybe say it. But yeah, I guess I was more answering about why he would say it than why you would actually go to your doctor. May it all work out for you.
Thank you for this 🙏🙏
Take finasteride, DHT is what causes hair loss
No mention of Opuntia Cactus flower? The most effective 5a reductase inhibitor of DHT in the plant kingdom?
I might be overreacting, but lately it seems like I’m losing so many hairs every day. This has been going on for over a year and my hair isn’t any thinner than it was, but when will it be? Thanks for the tips! I love my hair I really do not want to lose it:(
its normal to lose 100-150 hairs a day
im experiencing the same thing. keep in mind that it can actually be just psyche. if you focus on the hair you lose it seems to be so much. but it actually isnt, im prone to develop weird fixations on bodily deterioration because im prone to anxiety. could be the same issue with you. also, some people have phases where they will shed like crazy.
I do saw a China woman who has married to a Taiwan guy mentioned about her food recipes for strong hair growth and her staple food ingredients are soybean, groundnuts, black beans, black sesame seeds, red beans...
Super cool information. I make my own solid shampoos and conditioners; swapping out my current oils (jojoba, tea tree, etc.) for other perfectly safe oils like rice bran and rosemary oil, seems at worst harmless, and at best may produce positive side effects to washing your hair.
I lost hair when breast feeding. It grow back when I stopped but my hair is fine. High carb Hannah use to use Jamaican black castor oil. I buy some but never used it. Lol thanks for sharing Mic. Your videos are always interesting.
The algorithm is scary. I never searched for hair loss, yet TH-cam has been giving me repeat commercials that at first I thought was perfume but was actually anti hair breaking stuff. Then they recommend me this video out of all the videos you make. Been subscribed for a while but it's been a long time since TH-cam really pushed to recommended you to me.
I probably said something recently but I honestly can't remember what or when. It's not something I ever talk about. 🤷♀️

I like all your videos, Mike! Did you make any about coffee and matcha? Thank you!
can u make a video about creatine
All I learned from this video is that photos from different angles with different lighting look different and also… Rosemary

I always have high anxiety and my nails have white spots I have anxiety and I don’t know what it could be
ask cronometer and a doctor
@@andrewbrock4636 I have chronometer but I’m sure my zinc deficiency is from not properly chewing my food and being highly stressed and getting bad sleep and then all of that just keeps cycling
Start eating meat again and your anxiety will most likely go away. Fixing a zinc deficiency can take longer, white spots on nails are a sign of it. Cronometer is misleading because it doesn't consider that the absorption of minerals like zinc, iron, calcium, copper, magnesium can be blocked by phytic acids in plants. Look up "antinutrients".
@@tomlauris it was stress🤣🤣my zinc deficiency went away I just ate more lentils stopped masturbating 10 times a day and reduced stress trust me,I know that plants have phytonutrients but the animals that you eat,eat grains and stuff that contain the minerals and they give you the same nutrients that they are eating you just get all the bad stuff because your eating the middleman
My boy at 15:18 went from 26 to 30 strands. Now that is gains.
rice water for the hairs not really gonna work out, spoze i could make hair gel out of rice somehow it is pretty sticky but ahhhh
My boyfriend's dad grew that pink and blue ginger plant a few weeks ago, and the first time I saw it I was like whoa what kind of plant/ flower is that!? Now it's in your TH-cam video and I know the name. Not sure what to do with the plant though lol, do you eat it?
Only side effect of minoxidil is exactly what comes from his mechanism of action as a vasodilator. It makes you feel like your head flush and swell, but it is manageable if you use the right amount of it and wait a couple weeks.
@@simonbaumer6312 thank you! I’ll do that.
@@moonietenshi You are welcome- I developed Vitiligo in a stressful time and also because of nutrient deficiencies that went hand in hand- since I have managed my nutrients, avoided most allergens und reduced stressors (a bit), the skin condition has stopped from getting worse- it even improved in a few spots :) good luck!
is active ingredianet minoxidil vegan?
I'd still watch you if you were bald, Mic the Vegan.
Good God. And with the way his face looks as well? He’s clearly got something going on. He needs to use all the filters like all the other TH-camrs use!!
Super interesting thanks for sharing!
My understanding is anything applied have to be left in for longer that normal “shampooing time”
I've heard that the hair genetics from your mom's father is a myth. I guess you get it from both sides pretty much equally. Would like to know your thoughts!
It’s a myth. Can from either parent or even both
The problem is that it’s not entirely true, but the maternal genetics can play an amplifying or reducing role, given that it’s a polygenic trait and parts of it can be inherited from both sides with particularly strong/known genes from the mother’s father.
You go bald when you accept Satan... im not kidding
@@machinegunhippy lol so does 'satan' go away when the hair comes back🤭? Also how does that work for Susan Smith or Jodie Arias who OBVIOUSLY accepted 👹when it got rid of its offspring yet STILL full head of hair?
@@machinegunhippy yeah, very scientific. When I accepted Satan I started losing my hair. No joke. So, it's either Satan or the plant-based diet. Christians and carnists know for sure. All based on science.
Huberman mentioned anecdotally that curcumin nuked his dht
Interesting info 🤓👍
Thanks for sharing this. I’ve tried the green tea and the rice water but I don’t see a ton of hair growth.
Isn't rogaine good for your prostate?
I have been using a saw palmetto shampoo, and it worked for a little bit. After a few days you need to use it again or your hair goes back to looking super thin.
DHT is essential for wellbeing and immunity.
It definitely has its place, but within a reference range and it’s unlikely to be necessary in very high concentrations in terms of its downstream impact on localised areas such as the scalp. There are ways to mediate this without going into the realm of outright eliminating DHT conversion from the body.
How bout rice vinegar?
I'm 56 and from around the age of 33-34 my hair started thinning on the crown of my head. It's about 6cms in diameter. I found the best remedy for this is a cap and apathy. 😂😂😂 The cap is just to prevent sunburn, keep the rain off my glasses and the sun out of my eyes. Apathy about the thin spot is the best solution, though. I shave my head monthly as I can't be bothered with hair these days and don't really care if I go bald!
