“I LOVED YOU IN WALL STREET!” was a reference to themselves in real life. That older man is Charlie Sheen’s dad, Martin Sheen, and they starred in Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street” together.
When Lloyd Bridges (The President) took the role of the glue sniffer in Airplane, his sons Jeff and Beau Bridges had to convince him to take it. He was a dramatic actor and thought it might ruin his career. In fact, it reinvigorated it, since he turned out to be an even better comedic actor. The man in the other boat where they said "I loved you in Wall Street" was Martin Sheen, Charlie's father. They were both in the movie, Wall Street. He was also in Apocalypse Now, where most of the movie was spent on a PBR boat.
The BEST joke was Topper on the river boat - his deep serious inner monologue was basically the same exact words from his father's performance on a gunboat traveling on a Vietnamese delta in the film Apocalypse Now - and then of course passing each other on the river, where their voices overlap...and both complementing each other's performance in the film Wall Street, where they played father and son together (Martin Sheen is of course Charlie Sheen's real father). Both AN and WS are top 100 films of all time, and must see ASAP.
The game show Ramada and Michelle were on at the end was called American Gladiators. It was sort of a prototype of American Ninja Warrior except the contestants had to battle professional athletes. The Gladiator that Michelle pushed past was called Siren. Sadly she committed suicide while still quite young.

Cam hasn't seen the Terminator movies? "The Godfather" Miguel Ferrer was George Clooney's real life cousin
They also missed Casablanca, The Adventures Of Robin Hood, Lone Wolf McQuade, and my favorite, Dr. Strangelove. There also may have been a reference to Enter The Dragon.
"War. It's fan-tastic!" is a spoof on commercials for the NBA back in the 90's where the common saying was, "The NBA - It's Fan- tastic!". The commercials were so well-known and common, that making the joke in this spoof was absolutely appropriate for the time.
Martin Sheen was in Apocalypse Now, in the seventies. It is an intense Vietnam film. Charlie was in Platoon, another great Vietnam film. Both were in Wallstreet together.
The President is played by the dad of Jeff Bridges. The scene where he vomits at dinner may be based on the real event that happened with President Bush and the Prime Minister of Japan (1992). Keep them coming and thanks for the fun!
8:11 you know why they said “rakers” … how people from some countries pronounce letter “L” with “R” sounds. Remember “a christmas story” at the Chinese restaurant? It was the 80s-90s 😀
30:54 - There was a TV game show back in those days that was HUGELY popular called, "American Gladiators", they are referencing that show in this scene.
the event the girls ran into, was called the eliminator, which is the final part of the show, where they will run up the treadmill and passed the gladiators, and the obstacle courses. depends who make it first. and the joust, where the contestant has to knock out the gladiator, if the gladiator is knocked off where he stands, the contestant gains a point. if the gladiator knocks out the contestant, the contestant does not gain a point
The funny thing about seeing Miguel Ferrer crying from the tension during a fight is that he's an actor I've always seen in action movies and series in the role of the bad guy and the tough guy. That's why he says at one point "war is fantastic".
16:44 - This scene is referencing both the movie "Wall Street", which Charlie Sheen starred in with his father, actor Martin Sheen (who is on the other boat), and also "Apocalypse Now", which starred Martin Sheen (and also starred Marlon Brando, Laurence Fishburne, Robert Duvall, Dennis Hopper, Scott Glenn, and Harrison Ford). In the movie Apocalypse Now, daddy Sheen's character was also traveling up a river on a boat. I won't say why, or add anymore just in case you two decide to watch that movie. It was nominated for 8 Academy Awards, and won 2: for best cinematography, and for best sound.
The audience burst into spontaneous applause during that Chuck Sheen -Marty Sheen river boat passing of the torch moment. The fact it landed so flat with you guys has left me dead inside. Completely understandable, but still, no less dead. Dead, dead, dead. So dead. Don't get old gentleman. I'm highly against the practice.
I know!!! I never got the reference until I saw Casablanca finally. They pretty much just directly stole the plot of that movie for the love story between Topper and Ramada
Don’t forget the Casablanca references. They pretty much just straight up took the plot of that movie with the love story between Topper and Ramada (the train station abandonment rain thing, finding out that she was married before, Topper telling her to get on the plane with her husband instead of him, etc). I love the Godfather references too. When they’re in the restaurant, if you look behind them, it’s the meeting in the Godfather where Michael assassinates Captain McCluskey and Virgil Sollozzo. Also at the end when Michelle asks Topper to “get her off the hook. For old time sake,” she is a directly quoting Tessio’s line from the Godfather when they discover that he was the traitor who tried to sell out Michael to Barzini. That’s what he says to Tom Hagan before they take him away. My favorite though is the dual Apocalypse Now/Platoon meta reference when Charlie Sheen (Platoon) and his father Martin Sheen (Apocalypse Now) both quote lines their characters said in those films, only to meet each other by saying “I loved you in Wall Street,” which they were also both in. Classic!!!!
Precisely. There’s also the meeting where Michael assassinates Sollozzo and McCluskey that is taking place behind them in yr restaurant. It’s only on screen for a second but not that I know about it I cannot unsee it every time I watch it
14:49 Ryan Stiles as the demo guy is so great. "Then, when they're all paid off, I'll set my charges and blow the shit out of 'em." 🤣 16:45 That's his dad, Martin Sheen. As you can guess, they were both in the movie Wall Street. So was Michael Douglas.
@Cam&Zay - "I loved you in Wall Street" was a 4th wall break. They were both in an old movie called Wall Street way back before the spoof was made. That was Charlie and his irl dad Martin Sheen. - the soldier blowing his nose into the snot rag for topper was Miguel Ferrer. He was in Robocop and is the irl cousin of George Clooney. RIP Miguel Ferrer (throat cancer), Lloyd Bridges (old age, father of Beau and Jeff Bridges)
Charlie Sheen and Martin Sheen are father and son actors that have played in several movies together (including Wall Street) hence the joke as the boat is passing the dock. Emilio Estevez is also Martin's son and has played in movies with his dad and brother.
24:12 The parts where the Iraqis are speaking ‘Arabic' are actually random English words, American phrases, etc., just mashed to sound like foreign phrases.
The President is wearing a wetsuit because Loyd Bridges (Jeff Bridges farther) was Mike Nelson, SCUBA Diver in the early B&W TV days and when SCUBA was a new thing and all of underwater was a mystery. It was a good show. I particularly like the chicken-arrow.
31:35 - They'll poking fun at Terminator 2: Judgement Day in this shot. After (in that movie) the T-1000 got doused with liquid nitrogen, and started to crumble apart.

14:38 that's Ryan Styles of the long running UK and USA remake of "Whose Line is it Anyway?" and "The Drew Carey Show". 24:52 didn't that balding guy appear as a supporting character on NCIS?
When this first came out, the most shocking part was that the Colonel from Rambo II had such brilliant comedy timing. Dudes... ya gotta watch Apocalypse Now, it's MUST SEE cinema
The limo scene is parodying a famous scene in the 1987 spy thiller "No Way Out," starring Kevin Costner, Gene Hackman, and Sean Young. Great movie; not a lot of reactions to it. Definitely worthy of one.
The Hot Shots movies are my favorite of these spoof comedies. Although their references are a little topical for the era, so you guys may not be getting the full effect.
Okay, guys, @11:31, I gotta break in, Look at the expression on the Asian guy's face! This scene is a replay of when Bush the 1st went to a state dinner, seated next to the Japanese prime-minister. He had the flu, knew it, went anyway, at sushi, and literally barfed in dude's lap. Don't take my word for it, look it up. It was on video, and we WATCHED IT LIVE! Omg, it was nastacious. It was boag. It was disgustra! And those are just the Southwest Michigan slang words for it!
Thank you guys for reacting to this movie. It was one of my requests. Will definitely get a superchat donation to you guys next time you do a live stream. Have a few more requests. Now the beginning was a spoof on Rambo 2 and Rambo 3. When you watch Rambo 3 you will get it. Her spreading her legs was a spoof on Basic Instinct where Sharon Stone uncrosses her legs in a very suggestive way. This was very funny and better than the first one
I see you guys noticed the "Hillary Rodham Hussein" reference. If you pay close attention, you'll notice that every woman in the film has the middle name "Rodham."
Dudes. I am seriously enjoying this reaction! (12:20 Even if you are too young to get the Basic Instinct reference. I really like your interactions; the way it takes you so long to get the joke. Great stuff! 16:52 They were both in Wall Street. You guys are SO young. And in that vein, demerit for not recognising Ryan Styles.
Oh, honey.... That opening joke? Like in Aliens and shiz, please, "kill it with fire." That is running through my mind in so many movies these days! The Thing, Alien, blah blah blah.
One refrence if you wanna get watch basic instinct, specifically Michelle dressed in white and changes leg position im sure you will like the point of view
Did you guys enjoy Joe Biden's role in this.. he plays slow and incompetent VERY WELL.. doesn't he?!! LMFAO!! Sorry... Didn't mean to insult Lloyd Bridges like that!! haha
The number of random names and other obscure references they use as words coming out of the Arab guys' mouths.....I'm 49, (don't take this the wrong way), many of these "words" they use,one would recognize as something else if you ars old enough. Whenever an Arab guy speaks, you know it's coming. I should sit down and make a list of how many of those are in this movie. There's a lot of them😂. Saddam early on said "alka seltzer" , the boat scene 18:15 he says "Al Jarreau" a singer from way back. There's a bunch of these in this movie, makes me wonder if anyone ever tabulated a list. Anyone my age or older must have recognized many of these, not all of them you'd have to be older, but some are.
Aaaah, I remember watching that film at a much younger age than yours, and wondering what meant the "I loved you in Wall Street!" line... then I got interested in cinema, and by the time I was your age, I knew Apocalypse Now and Wall Street. Too bad you missed Basic Instinct, though. I mean... come on, guys. PS: the line "Hillary Rodham Hussein" makes the film a ten.
I also like the first one better, though that isn't really a popular opinion. I think the character depictions and the story were better. I liked the admiral, as the admiral. He had some great lines, and maybe he was a tad funnier. I loved "I love a good funeral!" and "That's MY job!" The second part wasn't bad. You can see some refinement and improvement in the production values. The jokes were a bit more intense, and some even hit a little harder on the hardee har level. Still, I think the story in the first one was a bit stronger. It was a bit less of a mashup of references, though there were definitely plenty of those in the first one, too. All in all, they were based on completely different movies, so it is a bit difficult to judge between the two. It's like trying to pick Indiana Jones or Back to the Future. It's easy to appreciate both. I think the first Hot Shots does a great job as a Top Gun parody, and the title fits the movie more than it fits the second one. By the way, if you see the film "Wall Street", that is referenced in the film, the limousine scene and the boat scene will make a lot more sense. The guy in the other boat was Martin Sheen.
Michelle character is a refrence to shanon stones character in basic instinct, it's known for 1 very specific seen and once yiu see that reference it will change your mind i hope no one tells that seen
There references from Rambo 3 and Kickboxer with JCVD at the begining, so if you have watched these movies before Hot Shots 2 it would be funnier to watch this movie after.
NBA is Fantastic was a Huge marketing thingy back when. Why it's out of the blue. Gotta loosen up a lil bit more, i know its a different time, but it was a different time too.. Happy you're up for it though... Loaded Weapon is great....!✌️
"I loved you in Wall Street" Charlie Sheen and his father, Martin Sheen were in the 1987 film Wall Street.

I can't decide which is funnier, the movie or you guys. 😁
Your reactions are the only ones that I watch from beginning to end! 💜 💜
Wow, thank you!
Charlie sheen also play a military prisoner role in the movie "Cadence" really good. Look it up. Also with his dad Martin Sheen and Laurence Fishburne
President George H.W. Bush threw up during a state dinner while visiting Japan.
Lyoyd Bridges stole the show in both parts 1 and 2😂
Who told you this was the more loved Hot Shots movie?! Great sequel, but the first one is a classic.
Thanks for the sequel reaction!
Did you guys enjoy Joe Biden's role in this.. he plays slow and incompetent VERY WELL.. doesn't he?!! LMFAO!! Sorry... Didn't mean to insult Lloyd Bridges like that!! haha
You guys are dope. Keep it up.
Wall Street is a f*cking great movie.
Greed is good
Finally you guys watched this 😂
The limo scene was from No Way Out. Great thriller.
Ah President Bush vomiting onto Japan Prime Minister's lap can't get out of my mind XD
There was an (in)famous incident where President Bush Sr threw up at a banquet with the Japanese prime minister.
11:10 was a reference to GW Bush when he threw up on the Japanese Prime Minister.
You two must do CHEECH AND CHONGS UP IN SMOKE.
Michelle character is a refrence to shanon stones character in basic instinct, it's known for 1 very specific seen and once yiu see that reference it will change your mind i hope no one tells that seen
My condolences to that man’s nuts. 😢
@31:40, that is from "Terminator part 2."
Another great documentary
richard crena and miguel ferrer in top form!..we miss you guys!.. ❤️💔
