"Because of you, this city is overrun by baboons" => you laughing your asses off...? This is Drebin's legendary reply that is hilarious, no that line. ^^
Lloyd Bochner grabbing a book with the title "To Serve Man" and screaming "It's a cookbook!" is an homage to the Twilight Zone (1960) episode "To Serve Man", in which aliens come to Earth with seemingly peaceful intentions, offering free trips to their home planet. The hero and her girlfriend try to translate the (alien) book which lends its name to the episode. In the end, when the hero is boarding the alien vessel, the girlfiriend, who just finished the translation, shouts to him: "IT'S A COOKBOOK!" The book was not about service, but about serving man as a delicacy. The hero in that episode was none other than Lloyd Bochner.
Police Academy- (1984). Gents this was another classic comedy that many of us 80s kids loved! Extremely funny and witty. Love to see you add this movie to a list of future comedies to react to. Thanks for reacting to this classic.
"Do you realize that because of you this city is being overrun by baboons?" "Well, isn't that the fault of the voters?" * band in background makes a rim shot and comedy fanfare*
Some of the other pictures in the bar are the Ford Edsel, which was a sales disaster. Mike Dukakis who ran for president in 1988 and was leading until he was filmed in an Army tank, and he looked so dumb his campaign collapsed. The San Francisco Earthquake of 1906. R.M.S. Lusitania sinking (not the Titanic). The DeLorean DMC-12, the car company went bankrupt. The Hubble Space Telescope (considered a failure at the time). WW2 British PM Neville Chamberlain, who famously capitulated to Hitler and trusted he wouldn't invade farther.
I always burst out laughing at the start when Frank try’s to pick up the First Lady and bangs her head under the table while someone says “watch her head”.
Y’all should check out an older role of Leslie Nielsen before he got into the wacky comedies. He’s awesome in these of course. Forbidden planet is a good one. He even has dark hair in it!
The piano player is a reference to "Casablanca" The pottery wheel scene is a reference to "Ghost" The mariachi band with spinning guitars is a reference to the music video for the song "Legs" by ZZ Top
I was getting ready to tell them the same thing. I lol'ing at "the woman". It has been a while since I have seen this, did I hear that they actually had an Elvis song playing during the "sex" scene?
Imagine watching the opening sequence in the theater: You see them walking down the aisle, then out from the extreme edges, Drebin emerges, and replaces Barbara Bush, next to the president. The story in this film isn't as strong, but the humor is definitely more powerful. By the third film, you will notice a trend: The humor in the films is inversely proportional to the quality of the story/plot. I personally also prefer the first film, but for a lot of fans, this one strikes the best balance between plot and humor. It's easy to forget, but this story takes place in Washington DC. This is why, when Ed talks about someone being implicated, everyone got defensive & pulled out a gun. In some ways, this film does show its age. I assure you, though, those who saw it in the theater, recognized who all the major political villains were supposed to represent. Now, the love scene in this one seems a bit random. However, it will make more sense, if you see the film, "Ghost". (also recommended ) Drebin is an interesting character. Unlike Clouseau, which you guys recently covered, he's not entirely incompetent. He has skills. He can handle his firearm, and he can handle himself, one on one. He's just a little oblivious. The original Get Smart series was like that too. I am glad you guys finally got to this one. I think you'll enjoy the next one. It is MUCH lighter on the story, but it is heavy on the gags. There are also hits & misses, but it's still more rewarding than your typical modern comedy.
That's great that you love Leslie Nelson and all of Leslie Nelson's films and you are a huge Leslie Nelson fan. I love what you guys do but it's Nielsen
This one was a Triple Canadian Threat. Leslie Nielsen was so Canadian that his dad was a Mountie and he spent his childhood in a remote First Nations village in the North West Territories. Lloyd Bochner was a stalwart actor mostly in dramatic authority roles. In this film, he subtly spoofs one of his most famous roles in a classic episode of The Twilight Zone. Robert Goulet was a big Broadway musical star and romantic crooner. He attended the same high school in Edmonton that Nielsen did. He was notorious for being asked to sing the American national anthem and only realizing at the last moment that he only really knew the Canadian one in French. The audience was furious when he sang the words "dawn's early night" and also "gave proof through the fight." Goulet and Nielsen together were magic.
I've yet to find any articles that verify it, but I swear that in the theatrical version of this movie, during the sex scene, the shots of rocket launches and blooming flowers were interspersed with shots of Richard Nixon speaking. My friend and I and the rest of the audience were all hyperventilating from laughter from it.
This was a good movie, not a great movie, but it works. The first is still the best, but Airplane was the number one. For me; Police Squad was a TV series that failed because audiences wanted more dumb comedies like 3 Company. However; many of the jokes came from the series first. The classic; "Is this some kind of bust?", "Yes, it's very impressive." Jokes like that I'd seen before. So by this film and the third; many of the jokes get overplayed. So, I understand where you two are coming from on this film.
Guess you didn't know a future killer who just died is in it until you saw his name in the credits. He is in all three and does more here. And he gets hurt here too.
The woman is Pricilla Presley who was married to Elvis Presley. The villain is singer Robert Goulet who Elvis Presley actually didnt like. You should check out Stephen King's Creepshow. King wrote the movie and its 4 scary stories in the movie including one starring Stephen King. And Leslie Nielsen starring in one before he did comedy and he is terrorizing and trying to kill Ted Danson. And the boy at the beginning of the movie who is reading the Creepshow comic book is Stephen Kings son
The saddest thing is that, the main plot of the villains in this movie is not that far from what actually happened to suppress renewables and nuclear for decades in favour of fossil fuels
If y'all like The Naked Gun franchise, you should check out The Kentucky Fried Movie and/or Amazon Women On The Moon, two classic comedies that I haven't seen any other reactor do, if you're looking to stand out of the pack.
you asked where the lion came from. well remember frank ran into the zoo. so the lion came from the zoo. the ending of the movie is a direct spoof of the james bond movie goldfinger
Yes, someday some reactor will pick up on the fact that the end credits are loaded with jokes in ZAZ films (Airplane!, Naked Gun, Hot Shots, Top Secret, etc.).
Leslie Nielsen was in series movies, often played a Vilian, after Airplane the second part of his life he only did silly well done comedies, Alamo Dracula dead and loving it, and yes, he played Dracula. Given your age the political humor may have been lost on you, but I love waiting people your age enjoying it,
I always thought this Naked Gun wasn't as good as the first. Still funny, though. Before you watch "The Naked Gun 33 1/3, The Final Insult", you have to watch "The Untouchables" (1987. (A very young Kevin Costner, Robert DeNiro, and the late Sean Connery in his Oscar winning role.) as part of this movie is spoofed.
My favorite piece of trivia about this movie: though they used look-a-likes for George and Barbara Bush, Leslie Nielsen was given the opportunity to visit with the real President and First Lady.
You ought to react to the prequel to the movie, the 6 episode TV series, "Police Squad" with Leslie Neilson. The Zucker Bros. capitalized on the success of Airplane! with a TV Series, which was Police Squad.
My dad started showing me these kind of movies at a young age. And nobody reacts to the first two I ever saw. Johnny Dangerously and I'm Gonna Git You Sucka! They both have a plot. And you should know a couple people from both of the movies. Be a trend setter and watch these so other people will follow.
I like the first one the best. The second and third felt a bit more dated, leaning more and more heavily into references, whereas the first one felt more timeless.
Hey I don't know if you guys take special requests or not but could you guys do the Dream Team. Its an all star cast as well as 4 escaped mental patients. Was wondering because it was my dad's favorite before he passed
Wondering when you guys are going to watch Brewster's Millions with Richard Prior and John Candy. Its an 80s fantasy classic comedy!! Seriously recommend!! 👏😀
What a fun ride, guys! My favorite scene was when the items fell off the shelves and clobbered that guy! ...And, of course, that circus at the formal dinner and his issues with the lobster! 😂 🦞
"Because of you, this city is overrun by baboons" => you laughing your asses off...? This is Drebin's legendary reply that is hilarious, no that line. ^^
Lmao. Facts
I know, the punchline was the best one.

'This city is being overrun by baboons...'
"Well, isn't that the fault of the voters?"
Best line EVER!!!The guy who wrote the script need an Oscar only for that line,it's genius!!!
Police Academy- (1984). Gents this was another classic comedy that many of us 80s kids loved! Extremely funny and witty. Love to see you add this movie to a list of future comedies to react to. Thanks for reacting to this classic.

"That pig is a great cop." - quoted for truth.

I'd say the Willie Horton furlough did more damage to Dukakis's campaign than the tank pic.
Hubble fortunately was saved.
RIP OJ.
@@andrewday3603 Fuck that murderer.
You guys will love Naked Gun 33 1/3 the final insult. Also Wrongfully Accused which is a spoof of the Fugitive. Another just funny movie
Wrongfully Accused is hilarious
I think Top Secret is a great movie. spoof of spy movies.
I love when the baboon looks at Frank and he looks at it.
You can see the life drain out of Cam when Drebin emerged in the raw sewage. 😂
"That hurt me more than any of our intros ever have" Amen brother

quivering love pudding is insane.
The underrated gag is Meinheimer is very urgently reading the pages after everyone starts getting up.
Ah, you missed the references to Casablanca (1942), I highly recommend you react to this classic movie!
Fun fact: THE NAKED GUN movies are a continuation of the early to mid 1980's TV series POLICE SQUAD, which was cancelled after only six episodes.
The piano player is a reference to "Casablanca"
The pottery wheel scene is a reference to "Ghost"
The mariachi band with spinning guitars is a reference to the music video for the song "Legs" by ZZ Top
Fun reaction! The actress in this is Priscilla Presley. Believe it or not, she was actually married to Elvis! 😃
I was getting ready to tell them the same thing. I lol'ing at "the woman". It has been a while since I have seen this, did I hear that they actually had an Elvis song playing during the "sex" scene?
@michaelauer2231 I don't know but that would be hilarious 😂
@@michaelauer2231no it was the righteous brothers - ebb tide
A movie about her was released recently.
Robert Goulet who played the villain is best known for his singing especially in musicals.
He was also a special guest star on an episode of police squad.
The real gem is Top Secret. That is one funny film; a spoof of spy films and foreign films. More avant gard, why it tanked in the theatres.

A First Nations village dealing with a Frank Drebin Mountie needs to be a movie.
There's Dracula: Dead and Loving it. Leslie Nielsen was just a phenomenal actor.
That film was crap
Before you watch "Naked Gun 33-1/3", you need to watch "The Untouchables" (1987)
Definitely. Classic film in its own right but the spoof...
Yes!! Been waiting for another Naked Gun reaction from you guys!
32:49 You still need to do Airplane 2, which I prefer to the first one. You have to finish the trilogy of this series, too.
Loaded Weapon 1!
A spoof of the Lethal Weapon movies with Emilio Estevez and Sam Jackson.

One of the best Franchises ever made!
