Thank you SO much! Much appreciated! FOR THE FUTURE OF FANTASY! :)
Playing my first game of Mordheim tomorrow, after oh so many years playing WHFB, AoS and other stuff. Stellar job mate, fantastic breakdown! Thanks for the hard work!
Awesome! 💪👍 Please do let me know how the game goes! I am sure you will have some great stories about the trials and tribulations of your hearty warband! FOR THE FUTURE OF MORDHEIM!! 😊
Coming here 5 years after you published the video and I am very thankful. I’ll be playing my first test game the coming weekend and we watched your video as a kickstart before diving into the rule book. I’m really excited and you helped with that! Thanks!

This guy has no luck rolling 😂I feel your pain… great video!
Thanks so much! Yes, those failed rolls can really hurt sometimes! 😂
The Algo recc'd me this yesterday, and I'm enjoying it so much! What a nice vibe, and such a good way to do game-rules learning!

Nicely done. Very thorough overview of the rules and key situations.
Thank you so much!! I have started a discord server if you would like to leave any stories or pictures in the “Mordheim” channel!

Great work! Your scatter terrain pieces are excellent. Really cool to see your hand build terrain piece on the board. I’m almost there with my board. I’ve been doing 12x12 squares for modularity with city moats. The fun part is it’s my first time using resin to make water effects!!!
Awesome! Great work!! I would love to see pictures of your progress!! 😊👍
Thanks for the refresher course man! We haven't played in over 5 years, and we decided to start again today. good to see there is finally a rule recap that is easy to watch and understand.
Awesome! I am so glad that this little video was clear and helpful for you guys! I originally made it so that I would have something to watch to remind myself of the rules, and I am so happy that others have also found it useful! Take care and happy Mordheim gaming! FOR THE FUTURE OF FANTASY!
We are a bit light on the rules since most of us arnt very good at this stuff, but we’ve found ways to make it work. I think the best thing we ever did was use the “random event” dice to pass between players to signify that it’s your turn. So a potential random every players turn has added to some craziness with 5 players on the table😂
Random Event dice sounds brilliant! How does that work for determining turns? That seems like a pretty cool house rule and a great way to get a Triumph & Treachery style of gameplay for Mordheim. Cool!
@@GrayArmyGaming i misspoke, it doesn't determine whos turn it is. When my turn is done, i will pass the "random event" dice to the next player, and every player starts there turn by rolling to see if a random event has happened. it just allows for a lot of random events to take place. funniest one we had was, a play was going into a decent sized building that only had 1 way in or out. A tree spawned at the door that makes all characters within 8" of it have to pass a leadership test or they run to the tree, touch the tree you die. Not a huge problem, but on the next players turn, the building decided to catch fire... so his warband died because he couldn't get past the tree, and the fire kept hitting him every turn.😂 since then he's mad a house rule that i can no only have buildings with only 1 exit because it "against fire code" 🤣😂🤣
That is awesome! Love the house rules, and this one with the tree was hilarious! You should really make a video about it and tell the story, especially the bit about 1 exit being against the fire code! So good! Do you have a list or chart of the random events you guys use? If you would be OK with it, it might be cool some day to make a video about this idea and credit it to you so that others can use your ideas for their own Mordheim sessions! Sounds super fun!
This is a really good run through, thanks for this
Thanks so much! I am glad you have found it helpful! All the best in your Mordheim matches!!!

Awesome! Have fun! 😊👍
fantastic video thanks
Thank you! Long live MORDHEIM!
Intercept. Isnt it optional on the potential interceptors part? Fantastic job btw. Very helpful!!
Yes, I believe you are correct! I always like to assume that all of the figurines on the battlefield have free will and can do exactly what they want (rational or irrational) unless compelled by rules or psychology. So it makes total sense not to need to intercept, even if the idea with staying close to a main character was to provide him/her protection via the intercept possibility. Great question and thanks so much for the visit! 😂👍
This looks fun! I wanna play, Orky!!
It is a blast! One of the best skirmish games ever made! And there is still such a thriving community! HAVE FUN!
But in the rule book, if another model is at 2" with charging, the charge isn't possible. Is this a house rule?

During recovery, do you recover all moders that are stunned/knocked down, or the models of the turn player?
@@lukasschrage8935 Great question! I have been playing that the Recovery phase is a phase that is a part of each player’s turn, so it is ONLY the activating player that recovers models in the phase. I hope that is correct and helps! 😊👍
@@GrayArmyGaming Thanks for the answer! Makes sense, when I think about it - still, the rules are a little vague on this part.
@@lukasschrage8935 😊👍
We have a few house rules. We run the turns simultaneously, meaning that each team completes their recovery together then moves into the movement phase and all move according to which model has the highest initiative. High initiative moving first or holding their move until they choose to go. An initiative roll can allow your model to make a sudden move but if they fail they lose their turn and can only defend.. We work out combat the same way according to highest initiative and with compulsory charges according to initiative success. Makes this more of a Real Time game than turn based.
Awesome! I will have to give that a try! It sounds like a pretty good house rule!
I have a noob question about 1st strike and initiative in combat. Does the defender of the attack get an extra attack he otherwise wouldn't get if he has first strike. I just assumed that you attack on your turn they attack on theirs. If the defender does not attack before the attacker, does he get a counter attack the same round?
PS I love the video, I just wanted to make sure the full question was written
Great question, Garret! I will have to check the rules and get back to you! Thanks for the visit to the channel! All the best!
Thanks so much, Garret!
Intercepting a charge is optional right?
That is a little unclear in the rules, but I play it as optional (I err on the side of giving the figurines more freedom and agency). Intercepting is a great tool for protecting heroes, but sometimes heroes want to take the charge! 😊👍
This video was awesome, Mordheim is so cool! What i did not understand was how many weapon can a soldier carry and how many can he use?
Thanks so much! Yes, I love this game! I will have to dive back into the rule book and see if I can give you a more detailed response about weapons. Keep on gaming, my friend!

so ... dual weapom its the best and use armor sucks... wtf? no penalty using 2 weapoms...
It certainly makes it worth it to spend a few extra gold on additional weapons!
Welcome to Mordheim! ;) But in seriousness: Most armour in Mordheim is simply way to expensive - if your warband is not at it's maximum capacity you should rather buy additional henchmen than buy heavy armor and a shield. And multiple weapons are another thing that is better than heavy armour and a shield. Sometimes I make an exception for fluff reasons though, since my Dwarf prince is able to buy a suit of gromril armour at 50% of during warband creation, and I can't resist that 4+ armour save (3+ with a shield) that doesn't slow my movement... okay Dwarves are slow already -.-
@@GrayArmyGaming goblin band all and bows can kick anyone ass ... full band are like 20 models ... 🤦🏻♂️OP mass shooting arrows . And skaven are op to fuking cheap rats ...
You have a good point there. If your friends feel the same way, it might be a perfect opportunity for you all to implement a house rule like what is at play in Regiment of Renown: max 25% of models can have ranged weapons. This seems to take care of any imbalance. Good luck!
Great reflections! Thanks!

I have to say it sorry. Your name spells Gag.
😂😂😂 I actually had that connotation in mind when I started the channel so many years ago. I thought it would just be something of an inside joke (a gag) to play games with unpainted minis. But over the years the channel has grown to much more. Hopefully my content doesn’t make people literally gag! 🤣
How to get around the "you must declare a charge before measuring" simply say "I'm going to run towards them" then you have to measure and oops, too close you can't run. Ok, I charge them instead. the "can't measure before charging" is a dumb rule.
Second: You declare a charge but too far, so you only move half distance? WTF? Why? Just move max distance and stop as if you ran
Third "you can't charge models you can't see" but "you can't run if within 8 inches" seems like if I can't charge you then I should be allowed to run. You're acting as if I don't know where they are and if knowing where they are affects my ability to run then I'm allowed to run.
Aside from those 3 rules I think mordheim is a pretty dang good rule system.
Good points! These look like some nice house rules fixes that I might need to start implementing in my own games! Thanks for the interesting feedback! 👍😊
@@GrayArmyGaming LOL, I was just ranting. Glad you didn't take it poorly. I remember playing Mordheim when it was brand new and those were rules we changed. It just feels weird some of the rules that Mordheim has in place even if there is a reason they exist.
Also my personal 2 cents is I hate the rules about having to declare anything before measuring because some people are insanely good at judging the distance while others suck at it. You get punished if you're the one that sucks at judging distance. This applies to any miniature game that does it with shooting as well. I may suck at judging distance but my super elite sniper wouldn't have that problem.
@@xavierdoesntmatter True! We can’t let our own inabilities stand in the way for our elite troops! VERY INTERESTING reflection! In some sense we play the game, but in another sense we are there simply to let our troops play their game…

@@GrayArmyGaming The Hive war box set is the easiest way to get into Necromunda.
But it doesn't come with much outside the gangs and the rules.
You will need the rulebooks (Of which there are many).
I mainly have the book of the outlands and the core rulebooks as well as the PDF's for the different gang rosters (Which are about to change due to vehicles just coming out.) If you are going to buy the gangs rule book I would wait for the new one to drop because the old one might be obsolete soon.
