How hard is the pulley spring, just hard enough to keep the sides apart or does it depend on the engine torque?

Is there an o-ring seal or any type of rubber seal on the casing where these pulleys mount to hold pressure in or is it just the Teflon seal that allows for some blowby?

Some folks say that you can clean that because it is hard steel

I paid $300 for a complete kit .. installed new seals on both variators still had a leak . I came to a conclusion either the seals weren't made right or the metal surface was worn .. solved it by rapping telfon and the new seal over

I am in the middle of putting a jf015 E back together. The new kits I have found have rubber gaskets for the variators instead of the fibre ring. Have you seen this as well?

I installed new seals and they leaked worse than the old ones. Is any leakage acceptable?

Hi, I am working on this transmission for 3 weeks now.I have same problem like you.I used teflon and I got a better seal but if you put a bigger pressure it leaks out again.Tomorrow I will try putting the more teflon on both variator seals and try it tomorrow on the vehicle.I am not really sure but I got a lot of trouble with this one.Trash transmission, if this dont work out tomorrow I will need to buy other working tranny.I dont have other options..This CVT is going to cost me a lot, I will have to sort it out with my costumer :D

I really wish you would have shown how you loosened that 45mm nut prior to mounting it in the press. But mentioning its reveresed thread helps, just would have appreciated the physical guidance of the how to hold it sturdy enough to loosen without damaging it.

Thank you! I like your style of explanation, I Subscribed.
Currently working on reof11a and both pulleys require new seals as air pressure testing showed blow by and no actuation under air pressure. I'm just having difficulty removing the nuts on both primary and secondary to disassemble them.

@@NelO-n7q Thanks, and those two videos will guide you step by step to rebuilding them!

Thank you so much for your videos!
On the secondary, I put all new seals and now it's air tight, fully rebuilt as you instructed. I tested for leaks and no air came out of it, but it also doesn't do anything, looking at it's design with the spring as a way to return it to the expanded tight pulley configuration im wondering if its instead a vacuum that is applied that compresses the spring by pulling the air out and opening the pulley gap that the belt rides in??

The reason why I bring this up is that I'm trying to reassemble the pulley housing but I can't seem to stretch the belt out enough to get the both pulleys set into their spots, if I could get the secondary to open up a bit the belt would be able to go in deeper and allow some slack so that I can place them in, but I can't get any movement out of the secondary to make the belt set deeper into it, seems to stick out from the steel bands out.
