    With the latest patch 0.148.6 developer announced that night spawned wolves should not run away when taming process starts, but I haven't tested this yet so if anyone tries it in the meantime before I do, please let me know.

    What's really awesome is when you finally tame a 2 star wolf and on the way back to base a deathsqito one shots it.

    • @let4be

      Do not do it nearby plains... plains are deadly but even plains are a joke vs being ambushed by a pack of wolves during the night... they are fast and stagger you easily

      The fuck?
      I just moved a pack of six ONE star wolfs across the Plains, the deathsqito couldn't one shot them.
      Was your two star wolf sick or something?

    I kinda like that the OG wolf would run away back into the wild. Makes for a lil bit of plot for that wolf.

    Wolf Training Addendum: June 22, 2021
    I decided to go with a Pit Trap dug near my Mountaintop Base.
    Night 1: Trapped a 1 Star Wolf, Taming completed over the next three nights.
    Night 5: Accidentally Trapped another 1 Star Wolf in Pit with my Tame Wolf.
    I was afraid the two would Fight It Out... NOT SO! Wild Wolf began Taming Immediately!
    Night 10: Had Two 1 Star Wolves and a 1 Star Cub in Pit!!!
    Night 14 (or so) had Four Tame 1 Star Wolves... Dug Ramp and led Four 1 Star Wolves into Base and reset Wolf Pit... Still working on a 2 Star Wolf capture. 😁👍

    I hate how this vids make it so easy to find a 2 star wolf.
    Its like they are spawning them in.
    I have honestly lost count on how many nights I have been running around in mountains killing no star, one star, fenrir, drakes and fullings without ever coming across a single damned Two star wolf.
    Driving me craaaazyyyyyy!!!
    I've started to hate the new day music and those yellow numbers showing what day it is.

    I trapped a 2 star wolf at night in a pit, i walked away 1 minute during day, he despawned. Next night he respawned in the same pit again. Not sure if this is always the case.

    Do you still have to be close to the pen to tame the wolves? Have they updated this? Also do you still have to do this at night? I had similar issues wirh my boars. They ran all the way back where I originally found them. Very annoying.

    i only have one question, HOW IS YOUR GAME RUNNING THIS SMOOTHLY?
    could you tell me your setup and game settings, and pc settings if there are any?
    i struggle with fps drops in the game, usually running on only 15-20 fps max, it goes down to 5-10 even in my base because of all the fire, and how big it is, thanks in advance!

    After taming them do I need to feed them or do they hunt themself ?

    • @WhiteLocks
      @WhiteLocks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Feeding them restores their health and it allows them to breed, some of them will roam around and kill and eat themselves but you don't have to feed them to keep them alive, they won't die if not fed.

    (1) Is it so important to get a ** wolf? Are they so much better than the others? (2) Can you just roam freely with your tame wolves without them reproducing and decimating the local fauna?

    • @WhiteLocks
      @WhiteLocks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. No, you don't need wolves at all if you don't want them. With every star they get 100% more life and 50% more damage, so yeah, 2 star wolves are much better than other versions.
      2. As long as they are not fed they wont reproduce. I used to have a lot of them, roaming all over the island and I didn't have any issues in finding any local fauna.

    • @adrianokury
      @adrianokury 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WhiteLocks I was asking because I tamed 2 ordinary low level wolves and they are breeding, but it seems that they breed much better if let free. I don't get completely the dynamics of rearing them. I have the distinct impression that whenever I command 2 wolves to follow me they mate and have a cub -- maybe it is just an impression.

    • @WhiteLocks
      @WhiteLocks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Animals only breed if they are fed, if you don't want them to breed, don't give them any food. They also require space to breed, but not only physical space, they also won't breed if there are too many wolves around. If I remember correctly, you can have 4-5 wolves max in a 6x6 space, once you reach that, then they just stop breeding until they get more space.

    • @adrianokury
      @adrianokury 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WhiteLocks thanks for the clarifications! I left 3 tame wolves free around one of my cabins, sometimes throw them some scraps and they are reproducing, but it seems that some adults wander away. Anyway I have now 5 adults and 2 cubs -- dunno if any of the adults will disappear. I'm rather new to this game and I'm still experimenting... Cheers.

    • @adrianokury
      @adrianokury 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      (1) When I let wolves free around a base, some may disappear during the night;
      (2) It is extremely risky to transport them one by one because they run away from me to boldly attack everything that moves, including trolls [= suicide]; it it were 3-4 they could have shredded the troll;
      (3) Whenever I command them to follow me not necessarily inside a pen they breed (I have a very large pen with raw meat, and they never breed without some kind of help, maybe even my presence there triggers it?!?!?!?).

    Is there any limits to how many you can breed with certain wolves? I’m curious if it’s infinite an do you have to find new wolves to make new babies or can they be inbred?

  • @kinggooktheautistickingewg788
    @kinggooktheautistickingewg788 ปีที่แล้ว

    Perfect example of terrible game design.
    There's nothing worser than forcing a player to stare at paint drying.
    When you have a AFK-able task, say farming, breeding or whatnot. Don't force the player to stand there for the entire process. It's extremely boring. If we are going to be forced to stand nearby, there should be something to do.
    Really, the easiest way to solve this is to just remove the despawn flag from 1 and 2 starred (or however many stars it has and has spawned during nighttime so it becomes mod friendly) wolves (or insert creature here) when the taming begins. The wiki even claims this is supposed to be the case but it's not. It's a filthy LIE. Also make them eat during the day, it's just pointless content padding and makes no fucking sense neither logically nor gameplay wise.
    It's already dangerous enough to tame 2 starred wolves because they can outrun you and get a bite in. Requiring alot of stamina usage until you can flip your way leading it into a pen.
    A easy way to force the player to invest a bit more into starred creatures is to multiply the number of food pieces required by the number of stars (starting at 2).
    For example a 1 starred: 2*BaseValueRequiredToTame = 6.
    3*BaseValueRequiredToTame = 9 and so on.
