I've been struggling to find people's thoughts on the base *Core Ultra 7* model, that's the one I'm really considering. Both the processor and display are less powerful on the base model, which in theory should make it less intensive on the battery and therefore better for long-term. I'm kinda still kinda concerned if the performance is much worse. Also, I really wish it was easy to replace the SSD.
I know what you mean, the processing and display is less powerful for this one. So far I've found it capable to handle light to mild video editing along with digital art generation pretty well. It started to run into some performance issues when I've had multiple windows open on chrome (maybe 5 with media content on them) and 2 Adobe programs.
@@creativeanimus oh, this is bad. Unfortunately, browser tabs are difficult on even the best machines. Knowing me, I'm the type to keep tons of tabs open at all times and multitasking ability is a major reason for wanting this laptop in the first place.
Hey dude! Love the video I'm thinking about picking up this laptop for the same thing. I'm not a fantastic artist like you but I want to continue learning on digital. I'm also trying to write stories as well so this laptop seems like the perfect combo of good keyboard and versatile pen/drawing tablet. I subscribed and looking forward to seeing your story come to fruition!

Great question - One I wish I could answer! I've never owned an IPad or actually drew with one. But I hear the experience is great. I can't speak to that for sure but I can show you how the Asus pen behaves and looks when in use on my Patreon channel. You can join for free and we can continue the comparison there if you want!
@@creativeanimus school (coding), and light content creation/gaming I love the design and two screens of the Zenbook but I’m leaning towards the SLS2 because of the dedicated GPU/tablet mode
@@TheIReynoldsI makes sense. I don't have a lot of insight on the internal specs of the surface book studio laptop 2 but in the past I had a surface (2017 surface book 2). They're great machines and both could probably do what you're looking for with respective tradeoffs. Take my opinion with a grain of salt in this case but depending on how much your budget is, you can have twice the screen real estate with insane processing power to code on 2 screens with the zenbook duo 32G RAM performance model. Next I'd do a comparison between the graphics cards of both to see how they compare if I were you. In the past, I know Asus's graphics cards typically outperformed the surface book models. It's still a topic worth exploring
@@creativeanimus is yours kinda laggy when on battery power? mine seems to be also kinda slow on startup/from sleep but other than that i love it ive been trying to find fixes lol
@TheIReynoldsI Yes, I noticed that too - overall I think it's still a great machine but can be a little slow on refresh rate. I actually JUST upgraded to the 32GB model for better performance purposes. I'm sharing a new video on the comparison today
I have! For most of my concept art, videos, and animations actually I've using it to some capacity. In my opinion I think the other models take the win but things like premiere can still run in light to moderate loads
In Sketchbook Pro, it's a little *too* sensitive. As in at times, it misread both pressure and tilt (especially if your fingers are near or touching the screen, even more so without any gloves) I haven't tested it in Photoshop (specifically the tilt), but overall, if managed carefully, I'd say it's still usable
@@creativeanimus Thank you for responding! Does it have an app to adjust these settigs? Looking at buying an Asus SA201H or 2.0 for my flow x13, but there isnt much information around.
Thanks @Diegocobo8. And so far the screens have been very resilient against the ASUS Pen's pen tip, I havent felt any grinding or seen any streaking. I think there are different options for screen protectors but I can't testify to their qualities unfortunately :) I've seen some with good reviews out there though
I wish I could say. I haven't used the surface 9 unfortunately, but what I can say is that after a few weeks in, the feedback quality for drawing overall has been nice, but there are a few moments in programs like sketchbook where my device misinterprets the angle of pressure I've used for the pen... At least for some special brushes. After 2 or so retries it gets resolved
Thanks for the information,
I'm considering buying this device, will definitely watch follow up videos on this topic.
Glad to help. Just ask away if you have any other questions👌🏽

Torn between this and the surface studio laptop 2, any suggestions?

What app are you using?
I'm using a few. You mean for the sketching right? If so, Sketchbook
This was Autodesk Sketchbook Pro for my artwork!
Have you tried adobe products on it yet? If so how is it holding up, I know it is a weaker processor vs their performance models.

I really would've liked to see the response time / delay. Is it better or worse than an ipad when drawing
Totally understand. I wish I had a comparison in this video. Not sure how they stack against each other

@@creativeanimus Have you tried concepts??
@@RyanOHeron hmm, is it (Concepts) a program?
So it doesn't support palm rejection? And we'll need to use gloves?
With the program I was using (Sketchbook pro) it did not support it. So a glove was a quick work around
Did the gloves work perfectly? Or there were mistakes here and there?
Actually perfectly. It depends on the quality, but good quality gloves should give you no mistakes
no line test....
Unfortunately not this time
