In ancient historical texts, "Mithra" was thought to be a diety of light and justice. My fiction borrows the name from this.

You're total fine. That's a great question and the answer is yes. Depending on the parents, offspring would have certain traits that are more dominant or recessive based on those factors ranging from appearance and powers. For example - A human who's a Novo and Man hybrid might appear with visible but less prominent Novo features but still retains the ability to access magic. Does that make sense?
