    Thanks heaps for still making killer vidz for these old reliable beauties. Still have my 1992 Liberty (Aussie legacy) wagon, but finding motivation to finish my rebuild is hard to come by. Awesome vids dude.

      Thanks! We still have many builds in the works on these old legacys, we love the platform and don't plan on leaving it any time soon. We have the big STI conversion in the works as well as a budget rally car build we are hoping to start over this winter. Glad you like the videos! 🤟

    Do you have any new videos in the works would love to see an update on the sti wagon

      @HackSquadGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes currently working on an update on the wagon, it's at the point where I'm gathering the funds for the engine build. Getting parts for the heads like cams has also been a real problem, got some wrong parts and everyone is out of stock. It also just takes time for me to build a $10k engine like this with my normal person job lol.

    Might be a dumb question, but do those 22t heads have the same rocker arm setups as the 22e heads? Because the ticking is just air trapped in the valve lash adjusters. They need to be primed by hand in a little bath of oil. But you guys would already know this right?

    • @HackSquadGarage
      @HackSquadGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The lifters are the same between the two, I don't know about the arms, I would imagine they are the same, they do have different cams. Yes we did prime these but the engine sat on the stand for about a year before this video so they deflated apperently. After the first few warm ups it went away entirely, so no more ticking!

      You are so knowledgeable and these Subarus are amazing for their interchangeable bits. Especially chassis wise. Keep makin this content even though its not the most "viral", because you guys help out so many of us that love these old gen Subies. Thanks dudes.

      @@edwardiganz2478 thank you! We definitely appreciate it. Oh yeah we'll still make videos as long as we can. Haha yes we have quite the hoard of subaru parts, it's all packed into this little 2 car garage we call our shop. When these old subaru parts are so hard to find you can't really justify getting rid of things haha

      @@HackSquadGarage I spotted a JDM RS front bumper just sitting on a wrecker wags on the side of the road in a small town. My Dad's a huge hoarder and he was trying to make me go hit the owner up. But I didnt grab it in the end but yeah, I have panels, doors, rear hatch, spare ej22e, assorted auto parts, headlights, stoplights, body seals, wiring looms all "just in case" someone rights Betty off, or whatever.

    Is this engine from a wrx outback or something? Never seen a 2.2T

    • @HackSquadGarage
      @HackSquadGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Nope the ej22t is the factory turbo 91-94 Legacy engine, specially from the first generation of the subaru legacy, it's a sohc, closed deck block engine that's pretty rare and saught after so they are kind of expensive. This engine is a budget ej22t, it's a ej22e block with ej22t pistons and ej22t cylinder heads with a stock wrx turbo. We used all factory turbo legacy parts to make this car turbocharged.

      @@HackSquadGarage now that's a history lesson. Thanks man!

      Is 2.2l closed deck block only found in first gen legacy and some 90s wrx like 22b etc?

    • @HackSquadGarage
      @HackSquadGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Renalda5TV the ej22t was only in the usdm first gen turbo legacy, other countries got 2.0l version like the ej20g which was also the early wrx engine, dohc higher hp but only the legacy/liberty got the closed deck version of the ej20g. The actual 22b has an engine called the ej22g which the block is based off the same block but has some differences like the ej22t has oil squirters and I believe the 22g doesn't. But the heads/cams/intake were basically later sti ej20k. The ej22t was a weird over built usdm engine we only got for a short time, ej22t/ej20g were the only factory closed deck blocks subaru made.

      @@HackSquadGarage you're knowledge is beyond my understanding haha I didn't know subaru made so many different variants of their motors. A lot to choose from for your builds. Do you know if NA ej22 from 2nd gen legacy any good?

    @hack squad garage, last month i bought a 04 impreza wrx. last evening i was going on a little ride when my car just over-revs and not going over 55mph/90kmh. also the car just started holding in and sometimes makes a little but loud bird chipping noise and my engine check light came on. i opened the hood and listened but no special sounds whatsoever in idle. could this be the clutch???

    • @HackSquadGarage
      @HackSquadGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah obviously I can't say for sure without more information, but it sounds like your clutch is toast, if you are in gear and the car revs without accelerating the clutch is slipping, luckily it's not a terrible job to do and I actually have a how to video on this channel on doing a clutch by myself in a day on a 04 wrx. Hopefully that helps! 👌

      @@HackSquadGarage yeah that video you mention was the first video that caught my eye :) but is it normal that even with a clutch problem the engine light comes on ? thx for the response
