Glad it's not cars again 🙀
personally i will never know why people go to these over the top fancy restaurants just to get fish and chips, it's already expensive enough in a regular fish and chip shop 😂
Me neither
It doesn't matter how much you pay for it. All tastes the same.😂 🤔 🏴 .
It's the ambiance and the place to be seen, especially for Tesla drivers.
I was thinking the same if you want to do a food review fish and chips wouldn't be my choice
Agreed, but I think Fish and chips get the views. Good for Lee, not so good for long time subscribers as it gets boring.
"Stop now, dont allow it"😅 what a knobhead. Lee sorted him out 👍
Fabulous Lee, I guessed 25 quids before your revelation. Hats off to Adam. 6/10 for the food and 11/10 for Adam
You handled the nutters well. ❤❤❤
From one creator to another, can I just say this is a bit of a masterpiece. Really well put together this one, and handled that 'vlogging in the street' typical experience very well! Bravo.
Thanks Steve.
The builder folded when you went back good on you putting it on him
4:02 Goes to show there are a-holes everywhere a person goes! Kudos to Lee for not letting that idiot slide.
What did he say to Lee in the first place?
I bet Paige would have something to say about that meal , and it wouldn't be very nice , I'd give it 4 .
Fantastic Video. Well Done.
Thanks for sharing lee
Another great video Lee..was I the only one who noticed the horse statue ..Nice touch there. Very funny xx
Hi.how's it going and another fantastic video well done and keep up the great work 👍
Can I tell you something about fish? The main fishing ports are in north east Scotland Fraserburgh/peterhead. What you will find in our fish and chip shops is that what they sell is haddock, lemon sole and occasionally halibut. What you won’t find is cod - we don’t eat that up here. My mum worked as a fish filleter and hated doing cod as they were always full of worms, hence why you won’t find anyone eating it up here.
Good Evening Lee. A very Lovely and Stylish Establishment in Leeds City " The Ivy ". yes, what can i say about your Fish and Chips and Mushy Peas, not to bad, Your Hake was a little bit flat and the battar was rather watery, Yours Chips looked a bit over cooked and really needed a Good portion actually on your plate, You did not need that silly bit of Garnish at all. The Restaurant and the Baroque Decor looked absolutely Incredible. From the sound of the Diners i could tell it was a Superb and Warm Atmosphere in there. Excellent Quality and Top Class Customer Service with Attention from your Server Adam. I would Score The Ivy a Generous 9/10. I would deffinately give a Good Tip to Server after my meal and drinks. I was very Impressed with the Ivy Establishment Lee. Thank you.
Same as with Harry Ramsdens as soon as they had franchises it went way downhill and the worst is Blackpool.
Hi Lee, there’s a recently opened chippy in Clowne not far from you, i think you should give them a try, it’s called sea blue fisheries and it’s always fantastic, I try fish and chips every where I go and this place is on par with any where, I go at least once a week and have never had a complaint, large cod small chips and small peas is what i’d recommend, trust me 👍😁
great vlog lee
Looked delicious. Worth every penny. Great value for money
There it is!
Went to Ivy Asia in Brighton. Not cheap but like you said a great experience and really good food.
Nice one Lee, when in Australia did you try a piece of Barramundi, chips with a squirt of lemon 😋 😋 Au
FANTASTIC 🎉🎉
Oh Lee. You're right about many things, but Yorkshire is not the best place for fish and chips.
The best potatoes are grown in the Lincolnshire Wolds, and the best fish is landed in Grimsby, North Lincolnshire.
If Yorkshire put half the effort into frying as they put into bragging then they might get close. But they don't, so they are not. That's a 3 out of 10 for me, Get yourself over to Lincolnshire for some proper fish and chips.
Should never be a mandatory service charge, if service is good you will tip accordingly
Personally I think it’s easy getting into Leeds but I’m local I’m rawdon, anyway fish and chips , murgatroydes apologies spelling , I’d say the locals which I doo go to the little fisherman just on yeadon high street, perfect sunny day yeadon dam behind, love your vlogs even ev 😂
hake is a nice tasting fish really enjoyed it when I was in Seaton
Hake in Yaarkshire are they mad lol.
If those fish and chips were put in a box so they looked like they were from a fish shop it would be a one you would never go black to .
Hake is the fish that, in the days of my youth, was referred to as "steakfish" in my home of Baltimore, MD (USA). It has a crazy stink when being cooked but is quite tasty.
Great video can’t understand why they use hake though cod or haddock for fish and chips or plaice if very fresh nice to get away from the electric cars 👍
Not the best Lee.
Today I went to Yarm Road Fish and Chips in Darlington - supposedly one of the best in the country. Had a jumbo haddock (with skin) large chips and curry sauce.
I'd be interested in seeing your opinion if you ever get to visit.
Nice one, Lee 👌
The skyliner does much better fish and chips
Have you ever reviewed the chippies in Hastings (Old Town) in East Sussex?
Looks dreadful
Hi lee hope the food was good as there was not a lot of quantity. Would go to a regular chippy and get a decent feed instead thought 7 was fair ❤❤😁😁
Why do some restaurants give us grass cuttings or dandelions leaves with a meal it's because it's just to fill the plate because no one hardly eats them unless you you take a tortoise out with you 😂
Haik is very similar to Pike,Which put's me of it.
Sorry that fish and chips didn't look the best, think the fish had been in a press. HOW MUCH 😂
Same as London prices. Well done.
You should have just gone to Murgatroyds
Lee you need to try Sussex Circus fish bar in Derby, best fish and chips in Derby ! Give them a whirl, great content mate
Try Frydays at Roundhay. Great Gluten free fish & chips.
My favourite food..I am now ravenous .All looked good, though my choice is plaice or cod❤ Obviously you pay more for the service and surroundings. For me the best fish and chips must be from a chippy and loads of salt and vinegar...
Looks good
Costs reflect the location & operational costs ✌🏼🏴
Good morning
I’ve messaged this message on Facebook aswell
Hope your well , me and my partner have been big fans of your self for a few years now , it’s our routine to watch you with a cup of YORKSHIREEEEE tea .
If you was to ever come to brighouse to try soon food or maybe fish and chip from fork and fish would you be able to let me know as we would love to meet you and have a photo opportunity.
Thanks for the amazing content helped in more ways than what you would imagine .
And on that note hope to hear from you soon .
And one more thing … ON WARDS MY FRIENDS
Nice One Lee .
Yes having an Ivy outside the capital dilutes the glamour a tad, but at least it’s in the biggest city “Up North”
Friend of mine worked at our local Ivy, apparently most of the menu was microwaved.
Bernard manning loved the ivy 😂
High quality vlog Lee. Well done.
Your last video (yesterday) showed a TV screen in the back of the Tesla. What a great idea it's obvious If you buy an EV you need the TV screen to entertain you during all the hours you spend stationary at the charging points. In my diesel I can do Yorkshire (Huddersfield) to Suffolk (Lowestoft) in 4 hours which I have done many times. I couldn't do that in an EV. When you work long hours time is more important than trying to see "the greater good".
I thought the chips looked a bit substandard, some greasy. Couldn't tell about the batter, shame if it was soggy. Simple enough dish, you'd expect better at a premium price.
When you say the fish is very flat that’s because you always try the tail end first , not the narrow neck end .
the fish was only like a minno, it was probably out of the cut
@@harris4018 haha, last time I frequented local chip shop o had a jumbo haddock , I left a review saying I had a jar in fridge with bigger anchovies ,
Price?/ It's a "Ivy" branded establishment so there's a premium immediately--so not too bad. Batter was woeful, done in oil and not beef dripping as is the Yorkshire tradition. 6/10 for me. The best Fish n chip restaurant in Leeds was Nash's.Visited loads in the late 70's never had batter like it--superb--ah the good ol' days.
Get your fish and chips in Grimsby .
10:06 Hardly any chips, and hake! Not cod, not haddock, but hake! For £18.75. Rip-off.
Eat your green pea shoots. Bit of salad is good for you.
Breaded hake is quite nice, but at the Ivy I would expect either cod or haddock.
Maybe places like this you could actually score food and then score service and ambience as a separate score?
Great video, completely agree with your comments, totally separate question, why ‘macmaster’ and not your own name?
I'm a whiz with Apple Mac computers and was the first to use them in local newspapers in 1986.
Yorkshire based chippies usually are the best
Me and Maxine have only ever been to Yorkshire chippies in Blackpool Papa's Harry Ramsdens and Yorkshire Fisheries
In the 1970’s in West Yorkshire: Mother Hubbard’s was THE “posh” (sit down) fish and chip restaurant . 🐟🍟🤤
Very nice too Lee, would be better if you had a choice of fish though, hakes not my bag, prefer Haddock or Cod personally. 5/10
why do brits have crushed peas with fish n chips? i live in oz and we only have vinegar and salt
Chips n scraps were 2 n half pence a tanner in our day. Yorkshire unbeatable. ❤
I remember a bag of scraps for a penny...Yum yum
I n Calderdale scraps are “bits” 👍
Id personally not of had fish and chips, soggy batters not my thing. The price little steep, but, you need different types of places give everyone a fair try. But local chippys with queues always draw me in.
I reckon you had better fish n chips in Cyprus 😂 and Blackpool 😅. Stay safe Lee 💕
One thing I like about you is that you are a typical Brit, and as a displaced Brit myself, I totally understand that we all like a good moan-up at times. By the way, I’ve also been searching out the best fish and chips, and so far I have found none beyond my own kitchen. My mom taught me well. Look all you want, my friend, but whatever you find will not come close to Doris’s Fish and Chips. Oh, that’s me mom. Long gone, I’m afraid. Now, let’s have a go at EVs. A loosing subject for you. 😂😂
Hake is a cheap fish in Australia, hardly posh.
Hi Lee. Thank you for this vlog as your meal looked amazing. ❤️
Looked good. Bit scampi with the chips though :)
Betty’s Tea Rooms in York do a very tasty Haddock and chips.
Been to the original Ivy a few years ago and wasn’t overly impressed. Now they are everywhere and definitely diluting the brand.
Is there a fish and chips shop in Harrogate? We went for the day, couldn't find one. Posh celebrity restaurants galore but not one chippy.
Too posh for nosh?
Bring back the blonde angel 😇
look back at your Wetherspoons fish and chip review. which do you think was better value.
Your expression says it all , ok , but nothing special .
incidentally ; I agree with you ; the best made plans.....
Good video. A bit expensive
Hake is a bold choice. To be fair, the price wasn’t much higher than most restaurants which serve f&c, and in London you can pay more at an actual fish&chip sit down place.
Council done the same in Nottingham, I miss living in Nottingham!
Hake, mine and my grandfather's favourite fish..... but it didn't look very good mate!
Yeah and look at the state of the centre of Nottingham now! It's like a ghost town there's that many boarded up shops. Wandering Turnip channel just did a video on it.
@ryszard68 thanks mate, It actually came up on my TH-cam feed..... that's shocking mate..... Nottingham was bustling and booming, it'll turn rough again quickly, and worse than the shottingham days!
Try Langley Friery for fish and chips, very nice. I done a google review with pictures.
Thought it would be more expensive actually, shame it wasn’t cod, bet they didn’t have Hendersons relish! Lol
I'd like to say thank you for finding me Mallorca in the sun. I really enjoy all your blogs and it makes my day when I see your next one. I respect your channel and they always make me smile. Onwards....to the next one! Your blogs are entertaining and you do them with style and panache. Thank you! 😊
Thanks Kevin.
I cannot stand the way ALL restaurants seem to place chips in a small bowl/dish. It's simply a way of making a crappy small portion look larger and fancier. They are all at it and let's be honest, the first thing you do is 'decant it' onto your plate.
It’s not Fish Friday yet!! Looked nice to me 👍🏻
Most posh food is pooh.
You pay extortionate prices for it,so your persuaded that its the "bees knees".
That sounds familiar with something else, don't you think.
Diluted brand, 15/20 years ago it was one of the places to go in London, same as the Gaucho Grill, when they only had the one in Piccadilly it was the best in London. I don’t know if it makes more business sense to expand the brand or not. Only good pub/restaurant fish and chips is the Wensleydale Heifer, which I think I went to on your recommendation 👍
PS the menu looked too big.
That looked awful. Peas in a mini pan and 12 chips in a bucket, why🤷🏼 As for your soggy fish, either the oil wasn’t hot enough or it was old oil. I would have sent it back and refused to pay the service charge nor left a tip. Shame on the Ivy!
Love the way you owned the gobsh##e builder. He soon clammed up,hope he’s a changed man 😂
Look on e bay at the parts prices for your car. Scrapping it and selling it in bits could be the answer!!
Enjoyed that Lee 😂😂😂😂😂❤
Hake for me , is the best tasting of the cod family . The Spanish and French love it . We don't eat enough of it in the UK, but like any fish, its got to be fresh .
I cannot believe the price of food these days, when I used to eat out in 2007 as a student, main courses were £7 in good restaurants. Now everywhere is approaching £20 :/ Back in 2007 I used to get cod and chips for £5, but I went to one the other month and they wanted £15 and it wasn't a tourist or fancy place. I've always cooked my own meals since and I've not eaten out in like 15 years. I'm so shocked when I see the price of food now and what's crazy is I spend £20 a week on food, so there is no way I'm paying £20 for a single dish lol. I swear this is why everyone complains they have no money, cause they're wasting it on £1000 phones and restaurants and £40K electric cars.
You wouldn't find any self respecting Yorkshiremen going to the Ivy for fish"n"chips...Nottinghamshire lad than that's a different matter...the fish resembled road kill & when did they start serving grass cuttings with Yorkshire's traditional dish...HOW MUCH £25 for the privilege & your right everything is better in Yorkshire 😂👍...take it easy Lee
Good one dealing with the hobbledehoys (you might need to look that up its from the 16th century) but as someone who lived in London for quite a few years I have to say the food looked, er, sherman.
The fish looked like it had a footprint in it and presumably as the chips are served in a beaker your meant to drink them????
For that money plate would be in my bag as a souvenir batter looked bit soggy and chips were too sparse
I wouldn't call a 7 a 'good score', mediocre, but fair enough, that's what the food looked like, gave me strong Wetherspoons vibes. Could probably do better at my local chippie for half the price... and double, if not triple the portion of chips :D
I heard no crunch, one of the things I love about fried chicken is the crunch...
For such a prestigious brand as The Ivy you'd have thought things would be perfect all the way. I'd be disappointed about the Hake instead of Cod, I'm guessing Hake is cheaper but in a place like that you expect the best, not a cheaper alternative. I've never been to an Ivy resturant, but if I did I'd definitely have something else on the menu. Also, the portions may seem small to some people but for me it would be just right.
