    at some subconscious level, I always look for Respected Nazakat and Salamat ji ,
    just like a small boy , in a permanent search for his lost candy
    and today God came to bless me.
    and Sone Pe Suhaga is that Dawood saheb never left them alone
    may God bless you Nisar saheb.

      Thank you Dayal ji, I respect your comment. Believe me in 1970's when got this recording, it was on cassette and listen to this so many times that I kept one backup copy of this and spoiled at least four cassettes. Some old recordings are so good its my life line, samething with Pandit Bhimsenjis Todi, Lalit of Ustad Amir Khansaheb, some Tabla Solos of my father Ustad Shaik Dawood, all these are my life. I am so lucky to be present at this concert, I was 11 years old.

      knisar22 thank you dear nisar for responding.
      so you are about 5 yrs younger to me
      your response has ignited a long thought process in me
      I do not want to elaborate, it may become a book in itself.
      in those school days I was not that lucky for being exposed to music
      but I always used to hum filmi songs
      but yes, I did not like all songs.
      I did not even know whether I should like classical or not
      but some pieces sung by singers like mallikarjun mansoor etc
      used to linger in my head for long, and did not erase.
      rest later
      thank you so much

      +knisar22 Salaam to you for posting this historical performance by Ustad Nazakat + Ustad Salamat and your father the Great Ustad Shaik Dawood Sahiban. A real treasure! Luckily I have attended Ustad Salamt Khan Sahib's concert and mehfils multiple times. He was a gift of Allah (SWT) to the music lovers all over the world .... and I regard your father Ustad Shaik Dawood as the premium Tabla Nawaz for sangat with people of the highest caliber as masterfully, sincerely, and soulfully displayed in this recording - note to note, bol to pol, taan to taan, every step of way. He had an amazing anticipation and memory to reproduce the exact pols of taans at the same speed. Accompanying Salamt Khan and Nazakat Khan Sahiban and adding to the overall performance can only be done by Ustad Skaik Dawood Sahib. I have always regarded him as the foremost exponent of Tabla Playing. Wish there was a video of him playing Tabla.

    This amazing duo carry on a tradition stretching back to the times when Mughal emperor Akbar ruled. Mian Suraj Khan and Mian Chand Khan, contemporaries of Mian Tansen, were the pioneers. Down the centuries, carried on the tradition viz. brothers singing Jugal Gayan. Unfortunately, Ustad Nazakat Ali Khan died prematurely, leaving Salamat Ali Khan to continue the tradition.
    Style reminds of Patiala gharana, with Agra-atrauli thrown in, for good measure.

    Probably, Khan sahib's most memorable Darbari. Shaik Dawood provides an ideal tabla sangat, never intruding upon the artistry of the singers. I believe the tarana was composed by Ustad Amir sahib. Magar upar ke suron mein kaisaa nibhaayaa hae, wow!
    It is not given to many gayaks to sing like this. Music they say, is one of the few things that engages our whole brain and music is also the last layer, veil, on the Reality. Great artists bring us closest to the inexpressible truth of our existence.

    • @isaiah53.4
      @isaiah53.4 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Amir khan saheb claimed to have composed the tarana
      but sadly its a white lie....
      it was composed by Hazrat Amir Khusro in raag aimen (raag darbari had yet to be composed by Tansen Khan a few hundred years later). You can easily see why it makes sense ...Amir Khan Saheb was a Bangali, but the tarana is in Farsi/persian, so sadly it is one of many lies told by artists of subcontinent

      +dada jee Salaam: I agree with you that the bol "yaar e man baya" meaning ... come towards me o my friend ...." are from the poetry of Hazrat Ameer Khusro. BUT were they ever used as a bol of a raga, I doubt that. Most likely Amir Khan Sahib was the first one to use them as a bol in Darbari, hence is known as his bandish.
      Much earlier, the late Ustad Mushaq Khan Sahib used "bismillah" as a part of the bol in one of his ragas; it is now his bandish ... parhat att Bismillah.....

    • @javedbhatty4345
      @javedbhatty4345 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Javed Bhatty A correction Dada Jee! You are right that these bol may have been used by Hazrat Ameer Khusro in Aiman (or other ragas that he introduced then).
      But I feel Ameer Khan Sahib could be the first one to have used it as tarana in darbari, hence he is credited for the bandish. Several great ustads has followed him since; for example by Ustad Salamat and Nazakat Sahiban here!
