Take the chance to dissect something if you ever get the opportunity. One of the most interesting revelations is that people tend to think of nerves as small and not readily apparent to the naked eye, but they can actually be as big or even bigger than your blood vessels.
When I was a deep sea fisherman I snapped my medial meniscus , it was the most agonizing pain and the knee locked into place while half bent , 1500 km off land very inconvenient , had to be dropped off at nearest land and lost a lot of money on that trip . long story short , had an arthroscapy operation on the knee , which is key hole surgery with a camera on a tube in one hand and a surgical instrument held in the other hand while observing a small screen monitor set up in front of the surgeon . Was told by the surgeon later that the knee would deteriorate over time and would require more surgery when in my 50s .At 59 now and limping with pain .
This is both amazing and terrifying. It's simultaneously nothing like earlier surgery and yet at the same time not that different from the very first chainsaws, designed for surgical use. Awesome stuff, thanks for posting it.

in 2024-25, people watch this because of the feeling when knee surgery is tomorrow
Why does it look so fluffy and soft kind off like a feather of a chiken
Because it is suspended in synovial fluid, the frayed fragments kind of float in it making them look like a feather

Take the chance to dissect something if you ever get the opportunity. One of the most interesting revelations is that people tend to think of nerves as small and not readily apparent to the naked eye, but they can actually be as big or even bigger than your blood vessels.
The area is actually covered in a fluid I don’t remember what it’s called tho

Was hoping for a better ending

This is both amazing and terrifying. It's simultaneously nothing like earlier surgery and yet at the same time not that different from the very first chainsaws, designed for surgical use. Awesome stuff, thanks for posting it.
I've had several of these procedures on both knees, you can walk the next day.
dont they have to make a big hole into the knee atleast to insert those tools? how big of a scar or tear do they have to make?
Very small smaller than a pencil sized hole and it's one on each side.

Deep squat can actually strengthen your meniscus. It's the improper form and bad programming that causes tears.

I tore my medial meniscus in my left knee 40 years ago. I passed on surgery and have had only minor pain from time to time. Thank God!
I don’t understand how a person can function with parts of the meniscus missing. Like what happens if the patient needs more cartilage removed? Do they insert an artificial meniscus in replace of the old
Yes, it can be replaced.
They used to take the whole thing out years ago but then found it led to early development of osteoarthritis in the knee.
@@erikcronrath3858 I had a discoid lateral meniscus on my knee, when I complained that my knee was hurting, my mom said it probably just growing pains until she finally took me to get it check 5 months later, it was really just limited movement and here and there pains when I had it. My meniscus wasn’t missing parts though, it was just too big and it cut itself open with another muscle 💀

@TheRuAsPa week 10 post op right now, there's a huge difference from before I had the surgery. I am currently doing rehab, it's tough but I'm getting there, some days there is pain especially if it's cold or humid and some days there's no pain at all.
How is it now ? My Doc have suggested me this surgery.
