    Thank you for sharing. I've had my laser a while now, but really haven't used it much. I was getting frustrated with different sized tumblers. Works on one, not on the next. But you shared one little tip I hadn't seen before that fixed my issues. Thanks - looking forward to more videos.

    I just recently got my Thunder laser and rotary. This video was amazing at helping me step by step learn to use the rotary and make my first tumbler!! I was so intimidated by the rotary and you made it so easy! Now I can’t wait to get more tumblers to try! Thanks so much for the detailed video!

    I know this is an old video but I followed all your steps. I also have a Nova 51/130 with a roto boss and every time I send it over to laser the mug it says “Rotate mode disables absolute cs” and won’t let me proceed at all. Any ideas?

    Hi Sallie! The “etched” metal looks shiny. Does it actually get etched or does the coating burn off exposing metal? Also, what is the coating - anodizing? Paint? Great work and I will appreciate a response.

    Simply Sallie loved watching the tumblers on your co2 laser. Making tumblers looks like so much fun to make.
    Will you be personalizing them in your Etsy shop?
    I love that you took different sizes and showed them side by side or after the other.
    I heard you say your husband helped you come up with the calculation. Could you and Jon show the math or where he came up with the way?
    I know Lightburn is fantastic, but understanding that number and how to calculate it for me would help plan the rotation or, should I say, understand the cycle. I know it will be practice to fine tune, but the principles help to see it explained simply for me would help, I think, understand how to make sure my ends meet flush, not askew.

    Have you ever done a Stanley tumbler? I am getting ready to buy my laser and after your video definitely going to switch to the brand you have! I need as many tips and tricks you have especially with the app to make them the right size that park worried me

    The only thing that I’ve done different is steps per rotation I’ve had my rotoboss and thunder laser for over a year I set up steps per rotation one time and I’ve never had to do it again and I do a lot of tumblers it’s always worked out for me good video by the way

    Do I need to re do the test lines each time I set up the rotary? Because the first time I did it it worked really well, now 2 days later I did it again, and it seems I almost have double lines

    I run my sane machine at 400/20/7mm focus with the same line interval with no problems. Cuts it like butter at 20 power

    • @SimplySallie
      @SimplySallie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tested out lower power on my machine and it had some spots that didn't go through the powder coat fully, but this was on my old tester cup. I'll try this out again on a newer cup as well! Thanks!

    Questions. I have many stainless tumblers. Can I paint them and then etch them in the laser?

  • @steinbierz
    @steinbierz ปีที่แล้ว

    NIce video. I was wondering what the workflow would be if you had a powder-coated tumbler but wanted color rather than engraving down to stainless. Say I had a red tumbler and wanted a black logo on it. Would I do a normal engrave down to stainless, spray it with Cermark, and run the engrave again or is there an entirely different process that is more efficient? Thanks.

    • @IRTermite
      @IRTermite ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First, registering the secondary pass, after you put CerMark on there, would be next to impossible if you removed the cup from the rollers to paint it.
      I've never seen anyone laser CerMark over powder cost, but suppose the best approach is to do it on the first step on its own.

    • @steinbierz
      @steinbierz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@IRTermite Thanks. I wasn't certain if it was even an option; there are probably better ways to get color onto powder coating.

    Seems like a lot of guess work to find the steps/rotation. I wish you could enter the product circumference and lightburn would calculate the number of steps. Thanks for the video.

    I have a tumbler I am trying to engrave, and the top diameter is bigger than the bottom. It is not like any of the tumblers you featured. I noticed the test line is like mine in the sense that it goes "off track". I am just concerned and wondering, if I use the top diameter, would my engraving be off? I am doing a football design on the top and the lower half the name of the team then persons name on the opposite side. I fear the bottom will not be accurate? Any advice?

    • @IRTermite
      @IRTermite ปีที่แล้ว

      You measure on top, and then angle your rollers inward to the bottom of the roller so they pinch down causing the lasered side of the roller to be level to the ground.

    I would love for you to make a video on how to line up a design on a cup that already has a logo on it! I cannot figure out how to line it up to print where I want it over the logo.

      Try using the center out origin or position for the placement of the start. Center your origin on your existent graphic as much as you can and also choose that option on Lightburn. It should work. I usually use that setting for my origin instead of the on the top edge of the piece being engraved.

    But, very cool, so many possibilities as long you have the inspiration.
    Do you, sometimes, have a "block" and no ideas?
