lol. So I just made a video about this for my patreon because I'm no longer really on twitter beyond logging in to pin things to the top of my profile. Today when I did that I saw there was some fued between you two and it was very confusing to me as someone who isn't on twitter, but is on tiktok and TH-cam. Tiktok has been feeding me a lot of Destiny clips and generally they're clips I tend to think have pretty good takes. So my feelings around Destiny have softened from "that's the guy n word debate guy/the guy who only really seems to care about black people as a talking point in an argument he can win" to "hmm, i guess he's thoughtful sometimes". So then when I logged into twitter to see what he said... it sounded absolutely crazy and out of nowhere. Like, every word. "wealthy youtuber" and "thinks white people need to solve their problems" really stood out to me as not true from what I've seen of your content. Its just interesting seeing both of your content and not even thinking you really interacted a lot at all to seeing that tweet. Logging off really shifts how important these things are in your brain. I think you're right to say "internet brain" because that's how this sounds to me. You're right, what Killer Mike said in that video wasn't anything new. My parents never once had a conversation with me that was like "hey, btw, everthing in the white man's fault". What they DID do is reiterate that society will indeed treat me differently because I'm black; and I denied the fuck out of that until actually very recently. Your point about property value is a great example of that. Doesn't actually matter how nice your house is or whether or not you pull your pants up. In our society, racism means black folks will be seen as lesser and that will impact us in many many many areas. White folks think we're talking about blaming white people for all of our ills, when in reality, it's more like we're talking about their inability to not be insidiously white supremacist. I am still so annoyed by the sheer existence of this bullshit. Like... why do we need to have a debate between you two? And why would debating someone putting words in your mouth and arguing that you've said things you didn't say be productive in any way? And who's it for? I think you're right about the insecurity of his black audience cuz I can see how they'd need it, but that's only because they're still trying to like him. Like....since pretty dramatically decreasing my internet usage, it's become so clear to me how deeply unserious debate bros are.
Although I agree with most of what you said, I should let you know that Destiny is racist in the sense that he doesn't hate black people, but does think less of them and undermined our struggle and achievements. There have been SOOO many remarks that I had to compartmentalize and then piece together to get a grasp on what he REALLY feels about black people. Now, I'm a bit lazy so I'm gonna post a reddit comment I left in a forum discussing Destiny's behavior: Personally, I think he is and isn't. He's been undermining black struggle for idk how long now, but a good year if not more. He's become really bitter and it shows through the way he responds to anyone with valid criticism against him. He's always given me offbeat vibes because there has been too many times when he's been selectively good and bad faith with people depending on he persons beliefs. And you know what's even more sus? He's been extremely good faith to right-wingers like Lauren Southern and Nick Fuentes and even going out of his way to hangout with them irl. He NEVER has this level of charity for ANYONE left of a liberal. He would make these baseless statements with broad stroaks and DGG would eat it up because they are his sheep and he's their Shepperd. I remember not too long ago when Vegan Gains and Destiny had their annual debate and how bad faith Destiny is when its a topic that left adjacent. He would intentionally misrepresent Vegan Gains and even take him to the most extreme tangents to try and justify eating chicken and waffles. It just seems to me that he is secretly socially conservative because of the people he chooses to be good faith to and the ones he doesn't. It took this dude MONTHS to label NICKOLAS FUENTES an N@ZI n matter how obviously anti-sematic he was, SMH. Not only that, but he said that the holocaust was worse the slavery, which it wasn't just by the sheer number of Africans that been lynched, raped, and beaten and mistreated to death by the white slave masters, but by the sheer amount of death is extremely disrespectful. 1 million Africans died just being transported from Africa to the Americas in one trip, ONE. I can tell he said that because he was trying undermine black struggle and not saying that the holocaust wasn't bad, but worse than over 200 years of chattel slavery? senseless. Now, the recent beliefs that I think are indicators of why I think he thinks white people are superior to black people is one, when he and Jidion where in a debate panel, I remember Jidion saying that he is a History buff(and he is as he seems to know quite a bit of history) and Destiny asked him if he thought that Ancient Egypt was black--which insinuates that Destiny believes that the reason why ancient Egypt was so advanced was because it was mostly Mediterranean people that built it. Now, there was this other clip he had and unfortunately I don't remember which one, all I remember was that it was around the time were Ukraine vs Russia was a big deal. He told a person he was debating that those that prevail in war don't change history to make them look better or to take credit for things they didn't do because "I talked to historians about it and they say that history is never rewritten, falsified, or biased" which is like going to Ted Bundy and asking him if he loved women and believing him. I would also add that his beef with Kai Cenat and YourRage is pretty self-explanatory. But yeah, Destiny doesn't hate black people, but he does perceive us as inferior to whites, smh.
I don't use any social media and basically stick to TH-cam as casual background entertainment while doing chores so it's insane to me to see how different people seem to be on other platforms. Had the same experience with the TH-cam algorithm showing me destiny clips of him seeming alright to his wildly fucked up characterization of FD on Twitter. Maybe I am ignorant to how important Twitter is to content creators needing to promote themselves and be accessible to viewers- but people should delete it. It really seems to bring out the worst in people.

Hearing this after the "which Black billionaire is gonna buy BET" discussion on the radio this morning was a double dose of Black Capitalist nonsense for me today.
There was a wise man who once interrogated this mindset by asking "Have you really made it or just became a prisoner of privilege?". Can't remember who it was though. Mike should be listening to that guy. There's a lot of good stuff in his music.
Who would have guessed when Mike said "You're burning your own homes!" he actually meant "You're burning down the homes I want to use to get your money.".

19:43 bingo. It's the motte and bailey technique. They all do it. From Destiny to Peterson. It never fails to fool angry young idiots who love it when someone gets "owned."
People keep lumping in Peterson in these categories but he’s never been one of those “owning” people kind of guys. He has his views and they make some people angry but he’s never came off as insincere or attention seeking.
@timy9197 Peterson's problemisn't that he's insincere, it's that he's become fucking unhinged. When he was just a Jungian psychology guy who had a bad take about pronoun legislation, it was at least somewhat apparent that he cared about making people's lives better. But the benzo addiction and the online right-wing grifter sphere just completely broke his brain. Exhibit A is that video where he's just rambling into a camera about climate change being a globalist ploy to... do something bad? It's very incoherent and weirdly emotionally charged. My biggest critique of him though will always be on a more personal level, because as an recovered xanax and cocaine addict, part of recovery is dealing with the withdrawal. (which it should be medically monitored and if you can ease the suffering in some way then go for it, it's not about suffering for sufferings sake) - but the fact that instead of just going to rehab like the rest of the world, he went to Russia to have a coma induced, in an attempt to completely sidestep any sort of discomfort or pain that comes with getting clean, is just a wildly hypocritical thing for the "personal responsibility" guy to do. not to mention he was preaching his shit about responsibility and "sorting your own affairs before trying to change the world" was fucking barred out the whole time. he's a god damn psychologist. this wasn't some poor sap who had no idea about the dangers of benzodiazapines becoming inadvertently addicted at the hands of an irresponsible doctor, he knew what the risks of these drugs were and still let his addiction spiral in the face of any sort "personal responsibility" I got into Jung because of his lectures, so his whole arc will always make me mad as hell because he really could have been a force for good, delivering a message that is actually needed. but he chose to double down on bullshit and now thousands and thousands of vulnerable, impressionable young men have been sucked into culture war bullshit. ugh.
I felt the sell out in Killa Mike since his show on Netflix, I appreciate highlighting consumerism in black community, but not everyone can own a damn business.
I said this in the chat, but it bears repeating. The first time I ever heard Destiny was when he was debating a Trump supporting troll/shitposter called Mr. Metokur. Destiny argued that Trump's wall idea was bad, but it was a good idea to do a MILITARY INVASION of Mexico to stop drug cartels. I cannot understand why anyone ever took this guy seriously.
@@sleepy_shivers more like because he spent a decade debating every right winger on the internet and destroyed them all better than anyone else on the Left has this century
Lol right😂 Really could have used that hug 😢 But I had never in my life been exposed to people actually debating leftist ideas live to people who felt different like when I started watching Vaush and Hassan. I certainly hadn't seen it in the black community, where I grew up I didn't find any black academia. All I saw was the Christian Church, the Hotels and Hood ninjas. But Vaush lead me to the rest of Bread tube, which lead to me subbing to Kadijah and like Katt Black. But I really didn't know what I was missing until I heard unc FD, forgot which video but it was like coco butter for my ashy soul. Although I know it's patriarchal programming, but I didn't know how much I wanted to hear certain ideas coming out of the mouths of just heteronormative looking BLACK men. Although I'm not a fan of Vaush, I do still enjoy Destiny's content and I'm eternally grateful they pipelined me to FD, Foreign and St. Andrew
I still watch Vaush…I don’t see an issue with consuming his & FD’s content. I felt like the end was just generalizing…I probably wouldn’t have even found Vaush if it wasn’t for my desire to get deeper into politics
@marcus Davis nothing wrong with watching both I personally got tired of his and all other debate Bros shit before getting into FD I look for content to educate myself rather than the bs online drama they engage in cus the they talk about I don't really deal with in my life.
@@anthonywood1410 tbh I still like debate bro stuff because I live in a pretty conservative area. It’s funny because the instant Destiny’s name is invoked, even FD content instantly phase transitions from impactful liberatory wisdom into banal TH-cam drama entertainment right before our eyes. I do hope he drops that 50k though.
The funniest part is they both react thw same way to each other. Can’t believe people don’t get this. I do community work too. I teach a class on basic finances from things like choosing a savings account, choosing a strategy that works for you, and saving for retirement. I often talk to people (mostly black and Latino) about living below your means, saving, investing, and education. When I’m talking with individuals this is the message I preach. But I know and have known for a long time this is not enough to make a systemic and cultural change. I vote for as many socialist policies as I can. Support candidates and causes that align with those ideals because I believe that is the only viable path for minorities and the working class. But of course John from the block doesn’t always want or need to hear all that. He just needs to know how to work within the current system. Maybe he just wants to know what an HSA is or where to get decent health insurance. So I’m going to help him get the best health insurance for his family even if I understand fundamentally no health insurance is truly adequate or acceptable.

@@aliciagibson6224 thanks man. I’ve been on both sides of this too. Like I started off as a “why don’t you guys just stop buying designer clothing, live below your means, get educated” type mind. But then I got educated. And I realized all of the barriers. How hard it can be to get loans for black people. How hard it can be tj get a job as a felon. How hard it can be to get a job even if you’re not a felon and happen to have a name like Jamal. Language barriers. I grew to kind of hate the personal finance and self help industry. I still mostly do lol. Because at best they are often neglectful of the unique circumstances of minorities. Don’t get me started in Dave Ramsey. And at worst, they’re preying on the disadvantage. Ultimately I came to the realization that people really need to maximize their wealth especially minorities if they’re even going to have a shot in this system. I’ll use my finance background and gears of research to help people now. But I’m often rubbing shoulders with people who share many of my beliefs about money management and who I know for a fact have some really messed up views on labor and politics etc. So I kind of get a little nauseous when I sound like them lol. I have to get myself back in the mind of a capitalist (without sacrificing my values). Because it’s kind of necessary. But it also helps when I’m talking to people that I can be very understanding and non judgmental. I think I can reach people who might otherwise not listen to this advice.
This whole ass comment right here. ^ 💯💯💯 I'm so glad FD got this opportunity. Destiny needs to be forced to watch and listen with his hand over his effing mouth.
I just had a huge blowout fight with a friend of mine over queer issues. I was irate, his take struck me as wildly harmful. Then over the course of the conversion he shifted his language from inflammatory to sort of "philosophy divorced from reality" or "utopia ideologies." This clip was super helpful, and poignant. It dawned on me what it was when he said it was a "debate" whereas I was completely consumed by anger. This video outlined their strategies so well and made my intuition feel validated as well. Thanks fd. You're the man.
Yeah a few key tactics seem to be moving the goalposts from outrageous claims to truisms, and engaging into full blown sophism untethered from reality when necessary, all to keep the upper hand in the “debate” rather than have an actual exchange. I’ve realized I sometimes do the exact thing myself and I’m trying hard to get more cognizant about it.
There's a MAJOR difference between saying things in private and in community and saying things in a space where anybody can take it and run. Also your last thing is so true. A friend and I are both from the South living in Boston and we talk about how white people up here love to play "folk" music from other white people in the country because they killed off anything like that a long-ass time ago. They "hate" country music while excusing the shit they like as "folk".
Ok you just made me have a huge realization as a white southerner. I love country and I even in the south I used to be a little embarrassed to admit it around “indie” music types but some of the corniest lines I’ve heard in a song is in “folk” music. And some of that stuff sounds plain awful. Not to say there’s some pop country that isn’t also awful but folk does not get that hate.
I've thought for years that there's a problem where in-group conversation on the internet is basically now discoverable by the out-group. So many "SJW Cringe" compilations are basically taking young people working through real issues inside their community and holding them up to scrutiny of a hostile out group.
@@ellekim2617 And it sounds even more awful and lame because they're trying to affect some country -isms that they don't know or don't mean much. Bluegrass? Hick trash. Indie folk? Peak of white music.

This was perfect. THANK YOU. I'm not American, so it took me awhile to fall down the debate-bro rabbit hole, but a few years ago I listened to a podcast about the alt-right and the last episode or so addressed deradicalization. They mentioned Contrapoints, whom I already knew, and they also mentioned Destiny. I thought, "Hmm, that's interesting, let's see this man's content. It must be good." Oh my god, it's hard to describe my disappointment. At first, it was interesting and I appreciated a left-leaning creator who could reach these insular fascist circles with good rhetoric. I saw some of his classic debates against white supremacists, and it seemed positive overall. That impression lasted for about five days, 'cause the following week he was talking about shooting down protesters. That man has politics as a sport. As FD said: kayfabe.A sophist if you will. The consequences of his words and actions? Opinions for him are an aesthetic choice that fits his style. This might be a bit off topic, but Tolstoi with his acid humor has a character in Anna Karenina that reminds me of him: Oblonsky - the cheating husband and Anna's brother. "Oblonsky never chose his tendencies and opinions any more than he chose the style of his hat or coat. He always wore those which happened to be in fashion. Moving in a certain circle where a desire for some form of mental activity was part of maturity, he was obliged to hold views in the same way he was obliged to wear a hat. If he had a reason for preferring Liberalism to the Conservatism of many in his set, it was not that he considered the liberal outlook more rational but because it corresponded better with his mode of life… Liberalism had become a habit with Oblonsky and he enjoyed his newspaper, as he did his after-dinner cigar, for the slight haze it produced in his brain." The short time I followed Destiny's content, I was confused by the apparent contradictions, but Nebraska Steve has liberalism as a style and as a habit. He can switch to Conservatism if the hat fits him better. It's that simple. Once I realized this, everything made sense. I'll give just one example. What did he think about veganism a few years back? Bullshit. You can kill and eat your dog for all he cares. Of course, he completely disregards the moral status of animals. If he didn't - like most of us - he'd either have to accept the contradictions of his values and actions as a liberal who favors individual actions; or a mixture of his contradictions and the structural problems with the animal industry; or maybe he'd have to radically change his consuming habits. Disregarding animals' rights fits his style better. It's more comfortable, and that way he can remain "coherent." A great hat. It's that simple.
Fixing your moral system to be coherent is dishonest. wtf?!?!I don't even like the guy, but your closing sentiment was incoherent. Would you prefer for political content creators to have unchanging opinions and completely follow party lines?
I agree with some of your criticism but, do you expect to agree with everything he says? Do you expect him to only be a liberal and say liberal things? He a person and that would seem fake, at least to me. There are a lot of creators I like but, I can't think of any that I always agree with.
@Tom Tom Certainly not. I'm giving an example as someone who hasn't followed the man for years and is trying to illustrate how they interpret his political and (-lack of-) ethical views. It's my impression, not a hard fact, but during the short period I watched Destiny's content, something bothered me, and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Thinking back on it, I now see it as a byproduct of turning politics into a sport. If you debate politics professionally as a sport and do it every other Tuesday, rather than deepening the discussions and allowing yourself to have complex and independent views on different matters, your main incentive is entertaining and winning in the eyes of the public. That's how you keep business going. Winning requires being liberal when it fits you and whatever else when it fits you. That's not coherence, that's convenience. Destiny can defend left-leaning policy, black lives, and poor people, and in the next breath talk about shooting down protesters. Someone said in a comment above he spoke against Trump's wall but said military intervention in Mexico would be a good option (a scary option if you're not american and this is the type of liberals we can find in the US, but I digress). These are not just disagreements with liberal abstract views on state intervention and human rights: it's a complete denial of it. It goes beyond independence of thought. (Well... we could make the argument that liberalism not as an abstraction but as a movement often stood for property and economic interests above human life in history, so maybe I'm wrong and he's a true liberal, but I digress again) The veganism thing is just an example of how I think his thought process works. Am I right? Who knows. He might be a more complex individual than I give him credit for, because from where I'm standing it looks as simple as I described. The thing is I had good expectations of someone who was known for deradicalizing the alt-right. Maybe his content started in a healthier way, but what I found was performance of a debate aesthetic that stands on drama and whatever else works to keep the audience engaged. Whatever hat fits. We can see it with how he provoked FD. His words had no substance, were straight up respectful, they didn't even make logical sense, but it was very convenient for fresh content.
You clearly havent watched him talk about veganism if you think his moral outlining of being a meat eater boiled down to "he doesnt want to change his consuming habits" He has clearly said multiple times that he has a unique view on social contracts that MOST meat eaters would NOT agree with him on, making the way most meat eaters justify their diet amoral. Shouldnt a moral system aim to be coherent ? You cant tell someone their moral system is wrong because it contradicts with how "most people" view animal welfare. Thats just a weak ad populum, especially when he himself points out how his ethics would make most people uncomfortable.
I’m so tired of numbskulls saying “It’s not that deep,” when you try to point out things like gerrymandering or black property value or a number of other structural things that contribute to structural racism or even climate change (I recently learned that the whole “plant more trees!” gimmick was not as good as an idea as many “Green” companies made it seem). When someone says “It’s not that deep,” all that tells me is they’re not smart/open-minded enough to have that conversation and thus they should stfu and get out of the way. And the crazy part is, these things aren’t even difficult to understand. But a lot of people are obsessed with the first solution being the only correct solution.
I feel this. The amount of times I'm talking politics so I bring up systemic issues and someone says 'you're thinking too deeply about it' I know the conversation is over. I think it speaks to the comfort of the person you're engaging; if they're so comfortable politics happens in the abstract to them, they're material reality is such that we're not even on the same page. It's not even like systemic issues are hard to grasp, I just think they put centrists and left leaning liberals in a dissonant space so they switch gears into sophistry.

I feel like David and Mike would actually be open to a conversation with a cornbread tuber like FD because Olay is a member of Leftist Mafia along with them and they are always pretty receptive when she brings up black issues. My intro into politics is similar to your but I still watch most of the people you listed as well as people from cornbread tube, with the exception of Breaking Points(which was trash) and Kim Iverson(who’s now pretty much a right winger). So for the most part I like the idea of some sort of semblance of balance, which is why like to hear the perspectives of both groups. I’m in my 40’s and I really got into politics a little over 5 years ago and while I always find it interesting when a black person says their politics don’t align with people like them, I respect it because I feel you can’t tell another person how they should feel about someone’s content or perspective, especially if that someone is from a marginalized community and is trying to find their way. No matter how much I may disagree with their opinion about that content or perspective. I will say though, I never got into Vaush or Destiny either, their formats never appealed to me in the first place and then to find out later they both low key racist made me feel good about never going down that rabbit hole.
@@0_P.E. I think with a LOT of them, while they do seem to preach the “rising tides lifts all ships”, which from their perspective would make sense, glosses over the all ready deep discrepancies between black and brown vs white economics. If, you know, as I think even Kulinski has referenced, it’s true that for every dollar that a white person is valued at, a black person is only valued at $0.10 cents, then even tho implementing more social policies will help, it still won’t close that gap. We’ll all have access to healthcare for example, which is great, but there will still be inherent class issues. To go a step further into healthcare (just the easiest issue to use as example) even when black people DO have access to healthcare our health outcomes are significantly worse than that of whites. These gaps would still exist even by removing the barriers to access because the issue is with the institutions themselves. Just look at public schools as another example. Schools in suburban white neighborhoods are far better than those in urban neighborhoods. Even though its a social program. So while I do agree with much of what left tube espouses, their rhetoric is coming from a place of, let’s be honest, privilege. Kulinski, Ball, Seder…all these people come from positions of relative comfort. Which is why, while they do have some good commentary, you’ll rarely (if ever) see them on ground and actually getting involved in the activism necessary to implement the changes they so readily support. Why? Because they’re good. Which makes them far removed from the working class, and infinitely further away from the black and brown working class. Now, again, I absolutely agree with their analysis of corporate greed, govt. corruption, and our collapsing media/journalistic space so I still appreciate them for that. But I had to come to the realization that what they promote, mainly change through the electoral process will never work for black and brown people because that solution is not urgent enough. They claim to be far left, and maybe so in their ideas, but their solutions, again slow change through electoral processes and their avoidance of radical action seems a bit tone deaf when the bodies are literally piling up in urban communities due to decades of neglect.
lmao you got called low iq. Someone without the ability to think for themselves and instead just accepts everything someone says until another thing comes along, and youre happy about it. LMAO
"I only debate my equals. All others I teach." That quote is amazing. In no way should you ever go debate Destiny. It is so bad faith. If he wants to learn he would go learn. He doesn't need to debate anyone, he needs to go educate himself.
@Daveny Ellis that's very arrogant to say when, you don't have an education, more wealth or status. Everyone is your equal because your nobody tuh. You don't teach because you don't know. You dudes gotta stop being fake smart.
As a destiny fan who only recently started watching his content the past 6 months then found your channel, (Great content btw) this is hilarious. I don’t do Reddit or discord I have a life and no interest to jam my head in a rabbit hole. Just watch from a distance and find things entertaining. Your content though has with a week completely changed how I viewed masculinity, my long term relationship, father hood and how I view success. No one on TH-cam has been as impactful to me as you’re. Glad to be here.
That Greenwood thing truly upset me. Hubs and I thought we'd have the opportunity to move our business to them and to feed back into an economical model designed to help make the American Black community whole. I was so disappointed to learn that it's not even a Black-owned bank.
your content is seriously some of the most moving stuff on youtube. unbelievably well spoken and informative and just amazing. thank you for everything you do
I actually know someone who said they spent almost 5 years just working and coming home to a single bed room with only a futon, now he works part time and a his main job is cashing and reuping his bonds. His story would be aspirational to me if he wasn't in his late 50s.
I remember destiny was debating with Michael Brooks and he was googling "can you get out of poverty with enough education" or something like that. It was incredibly stupid. Word of advice to destiny fans: the outside world has more problems than the internet does, go outside and try to solve them, it's more difficult than debating problems on TH-cam for millions of dollars.
Go outside? We did, multiple times. m.th-cam.com/video/bZ-R11G99Fw/w-d-xo.htmlm30s I don’t hate FD for being successful, I just wanted to see an interesting debate between two people I consider interesting. But I’m sure you folks’ll tell me how I must be misguided for wanting it to include Destiny.
I legit don't get how all these white boys/girls/other streamers think they know more about the black experience than an actual black man that has done social work in his community.
That's good old fashion white paternalism. In their minds, black people are like ignorant children that need to be led by the hand and told what to do by their [white] superiors.
i only have personal experience with this through transphobia (im a white trans bloke) but it always stuns me how people with privelige can just sit on their high horse and talk like they understand marginalised peoples’ lives better than those marginalised people do. just over and over again, in newspapers and twitter and in the bloody parliament, making it painfully obvious that theyve never so much as met anyone in that community but giving their own imagined version of them like its the undeniable truth. how on earth do you get to that level of self confidence?? how do you feel entitled to do that?? embarrassing - or it would be if there werent so many people taking bullshitters like that at their word. eff destiny honestly
As a black bloke I get that just being marginalized doesn't make you a good advocate for your group, i.e., BlairWhite or Candace Owen. I also don't think it is good to get keep when some can or can't advocate.
@@robertterrell7057 well no, i definitely welcome cis people advocating for us, but theres a difference between helping out and clueless declarations about what we “should” be doing. a cis person sitting alone in a room isnt going to produce a solution for all trans problems - theyd have to actually get to know us and learn about the problems we face. it seems like destiny and the like are convinced they already know everything there is to know, no learning required, and are fully equipped to tell everyone what to do, lol - thats what strikes me as entitled
@@jimmyjenkins4425 When you say "should" I think of it critiquing how a political movement is doing advocacy. Which anybody can do. Especially when that person. Knows the other side that those movements are trying to reach or should be trying to reach. IE Him calling stuff like "ACAB, health at every size, Her body her choice," Stupid(Well he says a whole lot more lol and a lot i disagree with) because they are complete shut offs for people those movements are trying to convince. So to circle back yeah he sure does come off as smug but sometimes you dont have to read 5+ books on a given demographic to say something they are doing is wrong.
The thing I’ve realized as a cis white-passing man is that I find myself talking about heavy stuff pretty easily. But when I talk about it with someone actually concerned by the issues, suddenly I realize it just comes off as incredibly insensitive and presumptuous. It’s made me realize what privilege looks like when talking about societal issues. Now I try to be aware of that.
This commentary is why I keep subscribed to you. Youre honest 1000% of the time. Its amazing!!! I cannot express how it hit when you commented on people saying they want immediate change but when people are called upon to throw some brick, the amount of people needed wont be there. Being in Africa this is so true it hurts.
I remember Killer Mike's Netflix series and his encouragement to shop black businesses, which I thought wasn't a terrible idea. *Edit; And he specifically was telling white people to do that.
It's the trolley problem. It seems like a good idea on paper, but thinking the only way out is to "out-capitalism" people that are inherently approaching from a position of more wealth/power is a fool's errand. It only works if you accept the framing.
That show made me so angry. Capitalism has never, will never, and can never liberate anyone: the problem is structural. Has Killer Mike ever heard of Soul City? I want to see him stand on what is left of those streets and talk about how capitalism is going to solve a damn thing.
@@Robstafarian he's probably not thinking further than working within a system that dominates our daily life. I agree with you about Capitalism for the most part, but it's going to take a collapse for it to go away and make people see that. What replaces it is also a problem. The void left will have to be filled by something and I hope the collective has a good idea what goes in its stead.
@@Robstafarianyeah but nobody has 200 years to watch the system change. I think if one has capital in a capitalist system, then putting that capital in marginalized communities is the only thing they can do if they don't want to play by all the rules of the system. They can not not play by all the rules, but they can ignore some of them
@@akshayde I am not advocating for people to watch the system change. I am saying that advocating for the continuation of the system prolongs the problem. In addition to putting capital into marginalized communities, dual power should be established and expanded.
I appreciate your note about being a downer/being real. I hate that anytime someone notes the realities of a situation the peanut gallery comes in screaming about being positive. Like, bffr…these situations are grim and the solutions are so far out of reach until we get a grip and look clearly at what we’re facing. It’s uncomfortable for a reason.
Ikr! I make art with a lot of themes of races, gender and sexuality issues, ect. During critiques there’s always a least one person that’s like “that’s kinda a bummer” “really heavy” 🙄 like no, you just have had the privilege of never needing to engage with these issues.
Practically every problem can be talked about on at least two levels, what can a person do to cope with the situation, or what can we as a community/society do to fix the problem. A lot of conflict can come out of people expecting one of those things and getting the other.
As a Jewish person… trust when I say that wealthy people do not uplift your community. We have high levels of wealth and VERY high levels of poverty in the same ethnic group. Capital never uplifts the group

Thank you for sharing bc I will definitely do more research on my own
@@dahliaherrod4301 yeah a lot of it is just millennia old racist rhetoric, I mean even before the Nazis and the Holocaust, well before it. In the Middle Ages Christian’s widely did not lend money for it’s against the Bible, and Jews were not allowed into working guilds or noble fiefs so Jews in europe lived in poor towns outside cities not allowed to enter and would lend money because it was illegal for us to work. That’s where the stereotype sort of comes from. As well as because we weren’t allowed in cities, during the bubonic plague many European Jewish communities were untouched by the plague. Leaving Europeans to believe jews were poisoning the wells and grain stores. This never happened but of course combine this with the “all jews are greedy goblins” and there’s been mistrust for hundreds of years. There’s a little both ways as well, obviously the power dynamics lean towards the Europeans but jews at the time believing the holy land was their birth right (i nor many modern jews believe in this, it’s free Palestine around here). Jews would not lend money for the crusades sort of a “no I’m not gonna pay some random German mfer to invade my homeland”. As well as jews we’re not fond of Europeans due to our mistreatment and the culture of not doing business with British, German, Italian and Spanish people started
I enjoy your videos and I’m not American and I especially enjoyed this one because someone has finally said it. The Debate Bros are insincere at best and grifting at worst. I’m glad that you can see through the nonsense that is Destiny. Curiously I’ve seen his opinions taken apart when he does debate with an adult. When he debated Economist and Professor Richard Woolf or Even Sam Seder it becomes apparent he as a lot missing from his knowledge and understanding. In some ways he reminds me of Stephen Crowder and Ben Shapiro speaking with college students. Using logical fallacies and verbal gymnastics to seem articulate. The difference between him and you is. He has no point ! You learn nothing and if you’re beguiled by his fast talking gobbledygook then you’re not really paying attention.
Straight up I used to be a vaush fan for like a solid 2 weeks over covid. Then during one of the vids someone reference his "tactical n word technique" and after going back and watching vaush drop a hard r in a group call with a liberal, a republican, and a Nazi a whole lotta microaggresions made a lot more sense
Never fails to astonish me that Destiny is still a thing. He was unbearable like a decade and a half ago in the starcraft community and he is somehow even more relevant and more obnoxious today.
@@FloatingErgonaut Because he thought he could be the next IdrA and 'shitpost' his way to success in the eSports scene. That's why he fostered a cult of personality with his memes and degenerative humor. He wanted the attention that kind of drama brings in his life. So he emulated the most toxic member of the SC2 community at the time and made a following for himself. Destiny has always been about having people worship him at the expense of others.
Listening to “RAP Music” and RTJ plus seeing all of Killer Mike’s critiques of Obama and the DNC really helped me in shaping my politics at such a young age. I feel like ever since 2020 with the speech during the riots in Atlanta Mike’s politics started shifting. Sad to see honestly.
As someone whose watched a bit of both of your content I'll say the first day or so I started watching Destiny and he was giving GYM ADVICE like an absolute certified expert cause he has a personal trainer and was echoing all his stuff. This guy Destiny had JUST STARTED working out and spoke with absolute authority to his chat like he was a lifetime gym bro with perfect form, I knew he would over step on any subject despite being a total dilletante. He has no ability to humble himself and admit hes way way in over his head and his first instinct is to fight and push back before anything. I later saw his takes on black issues and he was completely clueless but would dress down people on them regardless. He wants to "well actually" on EVERY SINGLE black issue and he has no background or close associations with the black community in his personal life from what I can tell it's just purely from an internet bro "I wanna argue" perspective. I've said over and over it's probably his worst issue and its not very close.
You are telling the honest to gosh truth about South Fulton. I encourage anyone visiting Atlanta to take a drive through there. That area is simply BEAUTIFUL!
Im glad to hear your thoughts on Killer Mike. I remember seeing a video of him with some rich white guy on a stage at some conference, and they were talking about how Mike had changed his mind on loving capitalism and how it was actually good. It felt so weird to hear that after listening to all the RTJ content.
im so mad i missed this live, but thank you for constantly just laying this shit out like it is. the bullshit internet content veil is so distracting, and purposefully so
Really reminded me of work and own recovery at rape crisis center. There’s so much you learn recovering and healing and all you know at the stage of healing is not what you tell a survivor when they first come to the center. You give small bits while tangible resources are walked through together. What help would be philosophical editorializing about rape culture be the first thing after
Everything about this is so well said. I'm white and I've had trouble.putting my finger on what I find off-putting about Destiny at times; this really hammered home a lot of it.
That comment you made about how watching you and the debate stremers at the same time would eventually lead to us stop watching the debaters is so true lmao. Ex Vaush fan, your content and others like you led to starting to notice the absolute abundance of problems with both these types of debate streamers personally, and the worldviews around how to approach politics they promote
This man destiny really accused you of thinking less of black people than the KKK and Nazis.... That's so...blatantly racist in its totality that i don't understand unironically defending that take FOR him
I found Destiny through a conversation he had with Brittany Simon. Since then I’ve watched countless hours of his debates and drama. I find the conversations to be pretty entertaining. He has a lot of bad takes, but also a lot of good ones. And the way he rationalizes is interesting. I also just like seeing people argue about ideas. I think he has a big ego and you are 100% right about the way he antagonizes people to fight with him because that’s the entertainment the audience is looking for. It’s very unserious. I don’t think you should debate him at all. The first time I heard him mention you I was confused and honestly offended because you are one of my favs. The next time I heard it I could tell he was just trying to lure you into the battle arena. I’m glad you didn’t fall for it.
Honestly I think even $50k is selling yourself short Fiq! Go big! Destiny should donate $250k _at least_ ! He's a self-proclaimed millionaire, $250k should be just a drop in the bucket! 😈
Don’t forget to protect your peace. It’s good that you won’t wade into a debate without getting some money for a good cause, but still, continue monitoring how much energy you give to people who aren’t currently edifying your life in any meaningful way. While it’s obvious that many fans from many camps, including your own, want to see you debate folks like Destiny, I know I’d much rather catch you on stream with folks like Foreign, Bellamy, Finn, Aranock, Andrewism, and others, talking about things of substance and cutting up over ridiculous things like Foreign’s feet or Bellamy having no chill in the live stream moderation. Seeing people who, presumably, like each other and making content with each other not only entertains me while educating me, but it also feeds my soul, not my vices.
LOL. I wouldn't mind seeing 50k go to a good cause. I'd tune in to watch the spectacle. Either way I'm here to watch F.D. keep making the content he wants to make. 👍
"unlike destiny, I know black people in real life." I mean that is a lot of what needs to be said. I prefer cold takes so I avoid most "debate bros" because they just swim in the waters of drama. I'll catch the aftermath of all this like a month from now.
I believed FD when he said he was a bad debater he was so convincing. Had me going wondering how he was instructing the kids he taught. I thought he meant all debate not just internet debate for the sake of internet debate lol. I was pleasantly surprised and finally watched the KM thing since I thought bad at debating unfortunate knee taking out of duty type stuff. It's crazy how well he did that, he must be able to get the kids brushing their teeth and eating veggies while they think they won over on him. No wonder marriage is stable haahah
Not a vaush fan any more. Haven't been for a year now and Destiny is still kinda on his drama content Arc. I preferred when Destiny spoke to actual PHD's and scholars as opposed what he does now which is basically farming content off of racists, streamers with hot takes, a hand full of black streamer, and content creators.
I stopped watching destiny because i had a job and didn't have the time, i checked back in like a year later and i was struck by how mean spirited he felt after a year in the real world. Like beyond anything concretley political the dude is just kind of an asshole so i never came back. Felt like id dodged a bullet when i heard he was hanging out with fuentues and lauren southern. On the topic of "they used to actually talk with smart people" the same is true with vaush, and they both have the same excuse "its boring when i just talk to people i agree with" . But its like they're both dumbasses with near non-existent knowledge of theory and activism, every time they had an intelectual on it was them being told about something they didn't know and they have the cheek to be like "we just agree" its like you didn't even know about this shit before you had the guest on, you can't agree to shit you didn't even know.
your like a big bother that moved out early and came back just to tell us there's more you can do in life and i love it i love your video's and message bro
A few months ago I had answering a guy who asked why people didn't like destiny I said its because he's kinda racist right and damn if the destiny fans could leave their homes I know I would of got jumped.
Its white people in general, i don't know what happened but now white people will freak the fuck out when you say someone is racist. If you don't have a fucking dissertation on why a dude is racist they will assume youre being unreasonable. Somewhere along the line they decided that racism was such a serious accuastion that its wrong to accuse anyone of being it
I just saw that he donated 10k to an organization he knew nothing about - only that enough people were aptly harmed by it to create a counter organization - just to spite you. What an absolutely disgraceful and appalling use of resources. I feel sick.
As a life long pro wrestling fan (Unc may be backlogged on ideas but I’m still waiting for him to hit me back for the wrestling video *cough cough*) I can 1000% vouch for the interaction he describes with these fans being like wrestlers and their fans when they get into Twitter spats with real fighters . They like the pro wrestling elements and all the talk and maybe even want to entertain the idea their guy could beat someone who really been in the trenches under specific and impractical circumstances but in the back of their minds know how much it’d take to make it happen and how it won’t end well because their guy knows nothing or not nearly enough for the task at hand . As much as it pains me to say this (because I love cm punk) destiny debating with people who actually do black issues is like would end like CM punk in the ufc.
I have no idea who any of these people except KM are, but I am currently listening to a podcast series about Vince McMahon, and this comment made this video make a lot of sense, lol. Thanks!
Their inability to not be insidiously white supremacist... That's really on the mark! Thank you for articulating that feeling
For the record Destiny also likes to harass rape victims. He once called someone too r*tarded to say no
Although I agree with most of what you said, I should let you know that Destiny is racist in the sense that he doesn't hate black people, but does think less of them and undermined our struggle and achievements.

(which it should be medically monitored and if you can ease the suffering in some way then go for it, it's not about suffering for sufferings sake) - but the fact that instead of just going to rehab like the rest of the world, he went to Russia to have a coma induced, in an attempt to completely sidestep any sort of discomfort or pain that comes with getting clean, is just a wildly hypocritical thing for the "personal responsibility" guy to do.
not to mention he was preaching his shit about responsibility and "sorting your own affairs before trying to change the world" was fucking barred out the whole time.
he's a god damn psychologist. this wasn't some poor sap who had no idea about the dangers of benzodiazapines becoming inadvertently addicted at the hands of an irresponsible doctor, he knew what the risks of these drugs were and still let his addiction spiral in the face of any sort "personal responsibility"
I got into Jung because of his lectures, so his whole arc will always make me mad as hell because he really could have been a force for good, delivering a message that is actually needed. but he chose to double down on bullshit and now thousands and thousands of vulnerable, impressionable young men have been sucked into culture war bullshit. ugh.

The people who ask that aren’t black or aren’t in the communities of working class, exploited and underserved (black included) minorities.
Hi, I'm totally out of the loop. Why does everyone here hate destiny?
@TomTom-sm7il well you're on the channel of a man Destiny declared was more racist than nazis... so yea that is a start
Ick. Sorry about that. Good luck
Sorry you had to go through that
"I can start Onlyfans off your fans" lmao that is an amazing quote

It must be good."
Oh my god, it's hard to describe my disappointment.
If he had a reason for preferring Liberalism to the Conservatism of many in his set, it was not that he considered the liberal outlook more rational but because it corresponded better with his mode of life… Liberalism had become a habit with Oblonsky and he enjoyed his newspaper, as he did his after-dinner cigar, for the slight haze it produced in his brain."
The short time I followed Destiny's content, I was confused by the apparent contradictions, but Nebraska Steve has liberalism as a style and as a habit.
@Tom Tom
Certainly not.
Someone said in a comment above he spoke against Trump's wall but said military intervention in Mexico would be a good option
(a scary option if you're not american and this is the type of liberals we can find in the US, but I digress).
These are not just disagreements with liberal abstract views on state intervention and human rights: it's a complete denial of it. It goes beyond independence of thought.
(Well... we could make the argument that liberalism not as an abstraction but as a movement often stood for property and economic interests above human life in history, so maybe I'm wrong and he's a true liberal, but I digress again)
The veganism thing is just an example of how I think his thought process works. Am I right?
@@marinareis3606 that's a fair point
I just love your energy and how you are able to look past all the bullshit.
“It’s the insecurity of their Black fans, and the racism of their White fans.”
Nailed it.
Feel this...

I'm mad I didn't stick around for this cause I would've been cutting up in chat lmfaoo
I actually know someone who said they spent almost 5 years just working and coming home to a single bed room with only a futon, now he works part time and a his main job is cashing and reuping his bonds. His story would be aspirational to me if he wasn't in his late 50s.
I took a casual glance at the subreddit and BOY do they need to touch grass and grow empathy.
We getting the video same day as the livestream? Damn, FD putting in work
I remember destiny was debating with Michael Brooks and he was googling "can you get out of poverty with enough education" or something like that. It was incredibly stupid. Word of advice to destiny fans: the outside world has more problems than the internet does, go outside and try to solve them, it's more difficult than debating problems on TH-cam for millions of dollars.
Go outside? We did, multiple times.
m.th-cam.com/video/bZ-R11G99Fw/w-d-xo.htmlm30s
I don’t hate FD for being successful, I just wanted to see an interesting debate between two people I consider interesting.
That's what I think everytime I watch Hasan
"How many heroes am I gonna have to bury"
It started with my bro in '13 and hasn't stopped since....
i only have personal experience with this through transphobia (im a white trans bloke) but it always stuns me how people with privelige can just sit on their high horse and talk like they understand marginalised peoples’ lives better than those marginalised people do. just over and over again, in newspapers and twitter and in the bloody parliament, making it painfully obvious that theyve never so much as met anyone in that community but giving their own imagined version of them like its the undeniable truth. how on earth do you get to that level of self confidence?? how do you feel entitled to do that?? embarrassing - or it would be if there werent so many people taking bullshitters like that at their word. eff destiny honestly
Killer Mike in 2016 was my hero
I thought he was great too then, but I'm certain it was the politics he was putting for then.
Edging the edgelords till they cough up that cash 💵
40 minutes of content, no half-truths or “needs context” bullshit. You’re a real one FD!
If you feel the need to make a 6 hour video telling people you really want to use the N-word, you're just a very sad person imo.
Really?! This is fascinating to me. What part of the world are you from? I need to put on my Google detective hat
@@dahliaherrod4301 america, 16%-20% of Ashkenazi Jewish households in america make less than $30,000 a year. 45% of Jewish children live in poor or near poor households
And Ashkenazi Jews are (usually) white Jews, and the Jews associated with wealth.
Brooklyn is a great example with a population grouping near 37% of households are considered bordering poverty with very high density of jewish populations
@@dahliaherrod4301 there are plenty of Jews with a high income, but there are far far more Jews who are poor or working class
@@SvenDzahov Huh! My mind is blown right now bc this is not the story that gets shared with the world, especially black America. We're told y'all are the richest and have the most control over banks and media. There's no discussion of those who are considered poverty-level.
I always resonated with "Don't take criticism from someone you wouldn't take advice from."
Hoe destiny only believes in saying it privately, so you're good to watch!
Never fails to astonish me that Destiny is still a thing. He was unbearable like a decade and a half ago in the starcraft community and he is somehow even more relevant and more obnoxious today.
Why was he disliked in the sc community?
@@FloatingErgonaut Same reason as today, honestly. Loud, obnoxious edgelord with an equally obnoxious fanbase.
@@FloatingErgonaut For being a toxic sociopath just like he is now
@@FloatingErgonaut Because he thought he could be the next IdrA and 'shitpost' his way to success in the eSports scene. That's why he fostered a cult of personality with his memes and degenerative humor. He wanted the attention that kind of drama brings in his life. So he emulated the most toxic member of the SC2 community at the time and made a following for himself. Destiny has always been about having people worship him at the expense of others.
@@Magus_Union Damn I didn't know that. Not surprising at all
Listening to “RAP Music” and RTJ plus seeing all of Killer Mike’s critiques of Obama and the DNC really helped me in shaping my politics at such a young age.
Black folks need to accept the fact we're not a culturally, politically, religiously etc collective.
Notice that RTJ is taking a break. I think EL-P was like what happened to the guy I loved lol
im so mad i missed this live, but thank you for constantly just laying this shit out like it is. the bullshit internet content veil is so distracting, and purposefully so
i love hearing FD dismantle dismantle debate bros and debate culture like this. the goat
Really reminded me of work and own recovery at rape crisis center. There’s so much you learn recovering and healing and all you know at the stage of healing is not what you tell a survivor when they first come to the center. You give small bits while tangible resources are walked through together. What help would be philosophical editorializing about rape culture be the first thing after
The way you said the word Nebraska killed me last night on stream, and it killed me rewatching it.
STOP COP CITY LETS GO!!! Unc is killing it
Everything about this is so well said.
That's so...blatantly racist in its totality that i don't understand unironically defending that take FOR him
It's not even addressable he's speaking to a hypothetical fd not in this reality.
This video was giving Lunch Break Ether. I enjoyed every second of it.
You should have doubled it again. $100k. Really see what his price is
Honestly I think even $50k is selling yourself short Fiq! Go big! Destiny should donate $250k _at least_ ! He's a self-proclaimed millionaire, $250k should be just a drop in the bucket! 😈
Nebraska Steve? Do ppl call him that? Das just what I'm gonna call him now frfr lmao.
“Want to play power rangers between me and destiny” what an incredible metaphor
Seeing people who, presumably, like each other and making content with each other not only entertains me while educating me, but it also feeds my soul, not my vices.
been WAITING to hear your full thoughts on killer mike, can’t wait to watch this whole thing
“Destiny and Jontron would have been friends in high school” is a fucking bar 😭😮💨🔥
You're like a Dad giving these cats a talk.
Destiny is definitely going to try and bait you into responding again. Don’t.
This part. Not till a donation is made
Not a vaush fan any more.
I loved the giggle after "...once campaigned for a Democratic candidate in Nebraska" 😅
It was georgia not nebraska
your like a big bother that moved out early and came back just to tell us there's more you can do in life and i love it i love your video's and message bro
A few months ago I had answering a guy who asked why people didn't like destiny I said its because he's kinda racist right and damn if the destiny fans could leave their homes I know I would of got jumped.
He’s kinda racist like any other white person in America
@@blacksteve22 Which is why they should be eradicated. Just sayin' 🤷🏾♀
Brilliant insites, my Brotha. Love the critical analysis and the raw honesty and not for nothing the gift of expression.
Thanks!
