Here’s the thing, once people have some sort of pre disposed idea about you, regardless of where it’s coming from or why, most people are automatically going to assume and go along with that person saying it. I guess it’s just easier than to actually get to know someone. Any little thing they see to support this makes them lean even more into whatever ideas they might already have- mob mentality. You don’t know if the target is reacting to trauma, abuse or what. Maybe they don’t even understand it but they can see things aren’t quite right around them, who knows. I really just wish people would give things some serious consideration before jumping to any conclusions about any person. You just have no idea what anyone is dealing with.
True, but intellectual humility is a rare commodity. It is so much easier for people to just jump to conclusions so they can feel certain. Sometimes the false assumption doesn't even really cost much, unfortunately.
