    Hi Didrik,
    I received your AMOK DRAUMR XL System at the end of March and have been using it since then. It is every thing that I have been looking for best nights sleeping under the stars hands down. Thanks Team AMOK.
    Much peace and love from north east Texas.

    Been using the 3.0 for several years (more than 100 nights in it) and can't wait to test this one. Would love to make a comparison write up/video for it for my canadian hangers' brothers and sisters.
    Still a bit confused about the difference between the tarps now...
    But yeah, can't wait to try it (especially for the roomier space under bugnet and redesigned footbox, 3.0 in beer mode was making the footbox a bit complicated and with the bugnet, it was downright uncomfortable.
    Really thrilled!

    What works for me is I stand beside the hammock. The Hammock is to my right as I face the foot end. I duck under the ridge line with my left hand on the ridge line. Then I put my right hand on the hammock to stabilize it and then I lay (plop) down on the hammock. I have the XL but seem to be too short at 5 foot 7 to do the fold up style sit down. This works well for me. Hope that helps. I really enjoy my AMOK.

    Better late than never. I got my Daumr 5 a few days ago and have been struggling getting in even semi gracefully. I'm only 160cm tall or so. I had worked up to a forward entry from the side, but your folded seems great. The video finally explained chair mode, awesome! I was sent to this vid for the putting away demo. I'll practice that later.
    Another Canadian here... I saw another comment here. I use my hammock as my bed, so lots of nights in it! (I was using a Hennessey Expedition Zip.) I will be testing this with a Tensa 4 indoors once I get it out of duty jail!

      How's it holding up? better than the normal gathered end hammock?

    • @patrickbuick5459
      @patrickbuick5459 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pedroclaro7822 TLDR; I haven't noticed any wear yet, so about the same as a gathered hammock.
      It's hard to compare, I keep switching hammocks as I wash them, but I'm back to the Draumr for my nightly sleeps for the past couple of months. It isn't showing any real signs of wear and tear, but could use a wash. I find it very roomy, unlike my gathered-end (Hennessey Expedition Zip) or in-line flat lay (Haven Safari), however sometimes that coziness is good, especially if trying to heat the space with body heat on cold nights. On the other hand, the "closer" hammocks can get clammy at times and not let you cool off on warmer days.
      It does require some strategy for me to get in and out, as, like Hanna from Draumr, I am altitudinally challenged, but other than that, it lies flat when I want it to, it does the chair when I want it to (but my legs are a bit short for it). One has to be a bit more careful about balance when reaching for things that aren't right-at-hand (when phones fall out of the pockets or to zip/unzip the bug net etc.), but for the flat lie and comfort, I'm ok with that.
      So I'd say about the same I guess. Really, most hammocks are made with very similar materials, so I would expect the wear to be about the same. With them being mostly fixed in place, not being taken down and put up, I can't say about how the suspension lines would wear from that.
      I hope that helps some.

    • @pedroclaro7822
      @pedroclaro7822 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patrickbuick5459 that was quite in depth, thank you so much!
      Yeah it looks really comfortable compared to all other hammocks, though I can see it to be a bit tippy. Not using it outside in sun and dew definitely makes a difference, and yours should outlast many despite the use.
      “Altitudinally challenged” 🤣
      Was it the best purchase out of those 3 hammocks? Seems to me to be the best of the best out there. There’s the CrossHammock but that’s pretty much a UL thing, still not as flat as the Draumr. (Plus it’s an extra 100 for the mosquito net)

    • @patrickbuick5459
      @patrickbuick5459 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Pedro Claro That entirely depends on usage. Each has their (overlapping) uses and pluses and minuses.
      Hennessey: light, 2 sacs (hammock and fly). Does not require a mattress. Cool weather invites an underquilt or the model with the foam underneath (can be bulky). Cannot be used as a tent easily or effectively, though I could be wrong. Bivi bag? It is more comfortable than one would expect if used correctly.
      Amok Draumr: still pretty light. Needs air mattress and fly, so 3 bags. Can be used into cooler weather due to the possibly insulated air mattress. The mattress is required for operation. It dies, no hammock. This also doesn't seem like it would be able to be used as a tent, but more likely than the Hennessey.
      Haven: the regular model is still reasonably light. 3 bag setup, all collects together with what I call a "wrap flap". Not bad in cool weather, again due to an insulated air mattress. Can be used as a tent if necessary, touted in instructions. I gain, if mattress dies, hammock pretty much not usable, though i had a bad mattress and used it with it quite low. It was nowhere near as comfortable.
      Haven Safari - heavy canvas, some extra features, but more or less the same as the regular Haven.
      I now mostly car camp, sooo... tough choice honestly. I haven't had the Amok or Haven in the field yet. Perhaps I should do some parking lot camping lol.

      Cool! You can attach carabiners trough the loop on the hammock straps. In combination with some trad gear it should be possible to hang in your area as well. However, this is not a portaledge so hanging of rock is at your own risk. All the best- Didrik @ Amok

    Just received my AMOK Draumr today, going out to set it up. Just wondering about the stick, can I use other things besides a stick? I was thinking of using 1/2" Plex water line. I had a chance to set it up and the plex water line seems to work OK. Another question, the ridgeline seems to be very tight when I'm in the hammock, is there a certain tension it should have? I know on the gather end hammocks they say you should be able to bend it up using your fingers and not have it fiddle string tight. Not sure if this hammock is different.

      And I tried various hammocks, this is THE only hammock i never leave at home for any adventure trip. So good job Amok, it was worth the wait 🔥

      Hello Gail
      While I cannot speak to the Draumr 1.0...? I have had the AMOK Draumr 2.0 and have been using it for several years and absolutely love it! Very easy to setup and I love camping in it and have had some of the best nights sleeping inside it! I loved it so much that when they announced the XL for taller people I got on the early pre-order bandwagon because I wanted a bit more room lengthwise, because at 6'2" the regular Draumr was a snug fit.
      You can order yours by going to www.amokequipment.com/

    • @AmokEquipment

      Hi Gail.
      You can find us on www.amokequipment.com
      The system relies on an inflatable sleeping pad similar to EXPED LW pads for insulation and structure, without it the system does not work. We will make a separate vidoe shoing how to use the FJØL LW pad that we make ourselves very soon.
      The sham you are reffering to was a Chinese company that gave the impression that they sold our gear, which they did not and people ended up with nothing at all or a cheap gathered end hammock. You can read all bout that here: www.amokequipment.com/blogs/news/ongoing-scam-update-12-min-read
      The Rainlfly is optional and something that you can buy additionally from us if you would like to.

    Regarding the chair mode I saw that you started by raising the foot end, and then the head end. Did you then loosen (lower) the foot end after raising the head end? It appears that after you raised the head end the mat just folded down on it’s own. Did I miss a step?
