    Thank you. I am a nurse, going into situations of suffering for my patients and risk of sickness and suffering for me. Taking time off today was tough but I needed that rest today in my real source of rest; my righteousness jesus christ. To trust God in this time is my true strength. Thank you so much. God has blessed me thru your reflections. In christ's love. Keep sharing.

    I’m enyoing this series so much, cause I’ve been in a suffering spiral for seven years now. And it’s getting worse each day, and recently I was at the point of just plain spiritual exhaustion. Cause I was misinterpreting the word of God. Now I am more at peace even when my circumstances does not have change a bit but getting worse. My God will deliver my soul from being damage and I could see my Lord right here with me. Thank you both sooo much for all the work you are doing. It is not in vain 💕😊

    As I was praying this morning God brought Psalm 91 to mind. I reread it and wanted to find an explanation because I agree that we can’t take this Psalm alone because it would contradict other scriptures such as Jesus’ words in John 16:33. Thank you for this explanation. I always appreciate Tim’s teaching and enjoy seeing Cathy join Tim. What a blessing that we can still enjoy Tim’s teaching after he has gone to be with the Lord.

    Kathy and Tim~ The verse inscribed on your rings is appropriate because marriage IS a mixture of blessings, sufferings and learning to lean on God as you grow. Praising God together through the years is a great life discipline.

    "If you live for anything more than God... You are not safe." These were tough words, but true and must be accepted with humility. These statements are necessary for us to understand and apply to our walk with Christ. Jesus says, (paraphrasing here for space) if you love anything or anyone more than Me, you are not worthy of Me." It's tough words, but true. May the Lord God gives us hearts to understand and apply what we know to be true in the scripture, even the hard things. 🙏

  • @musicshewrote

    I think your wedding ring inscription is actually perfect because you believed it to be singular in context - however you/we discover when the text is further considered there is much more on the idea of suffering . What marriage does not endure suffering? So as God willed, I believe your inscription was perfectly selected.

    PSALM 91 [a very precise translation of the Greek version] (90) a praise ode by David. the one dwelling in help uv the Highest resides in that which provides protection: the God uv Heaven. say: the LORD [Abba, Father] is my helper and my refuge, my God; hope in Him because He will deliver you from the snare uv hunters, from hectic troubling words [, spoken or thought], at that time His back will provide protective shade for you and under His wings you shall hope: armor which goes around you His Truth; you will not be afraid from terror occurring at night, arrows flying by day, from things in darkness going right throuu, from evil accidents, and the demon at mid-day; a thousand shall fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand but it shall not come near you. only with your eyes shall you observe and see the recompense uv sinners because You, LORD, are my hope. you, my soul, have made the Most High your refuge. No evils shall come upon you, and scourge shall not approach in your tent because His angels perfectly surround around you, to guard you in all your ways, by hands will lift you, that not your foot stumble against a stone; to set your foot upon the asp and cobra and be able to advance; and to trample on the lion and dragon. for upon Me he has hoped and I will deliver him: I will protectively cover him, because he has known My name. he shall emit a loud vocal sound appealing for help towards Me, and I will hearken to him: with him am in affliction I will chase it out for him, and glorify him. I will fill him with long duration uv days, and show him My salvation.

    Thank you for this message Dr. Keller. I've enjoyed your teachings for 25 years as a regular attendee of the Redeemer church--which you founded. I'm so blessed that I can still listen to your knowledge and insights of scripture through Gospel in Life. Psalm 91 is one I recite by heart everyday in prayer and has become a personal favorite of mine--thanks to my beloved Mother who introduced it to me as her personal favorite. I learned the King James Version of this Psalm and prefer the poetry of this edition of the Bible to that of the New International Version--which, by my perspective, does not capture the beauty of this song with the same impact. Nonetheless, your interpretation of this Psalm's essence is greatly reassuring both in and through these difficult times!

      @feeltheforce10 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you not know this Psalm 91 is praise to Yahweh ? The " God " to Israel and its people ONLY.Yahweh is not God !!!! this being was a God of war a wicked evil being who carried out genocides and crimes against humanity......Where you see " The Lord " in Psalms and in the Old Testament replace it with Yahweh then you will have a clearer understanding.People are confusing this Yahweh The Israelite God to being the one true God.

    Thank you! My family and me have read this psalm a lot around 3 week ago.
    I have a question though;
    "a lot of God's promises are met on the far side of the crucifixion, not on the near side."
    you mean that's what most people think?
    so a lot of his promises are actually met on the near side of the crucifixion?

    🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
    00:14 *🌟 Psalm 91 is introduced, emphasizing God's promise of safety and refuge for believers.*
    00:42 *🛡️ The Psalm depicts God's protection metaphorically, illustrating His care as sheltering like a bird's wings.*
    01:09 *🤔 The meaning of God's promise is explored, noting that its interpretation can be skewed by Satan, as seen in Luke 4.*
    02:18 *😈 Misinterpreting Psalm 91 can lead believers to expect no suffering, which sets them up for disillusionment when challenges arise.*
    03:00 *📜 It is emphasized that Scripture should be interpreted in harmony with the whole Bible to avoid contradictions.*
    03:54 *🔄 Joseph’s story in Genesis 50:20 is used to illustrate that God’s protection can involve enduring hardships that ultimately serve a greater good.*
    04:48 *🌍 Romans 8:28 is cited to support the view that God uses all events together for the ultimate benefit of those who love Him, even if not all events are good.*
    05:57 *✨ True safety is defined not by the absence of trouble but by spiritual security and identity in God, transcending physical circumstances.*

    Deuteronomy 8 has similar truths : God said He makes us suffer and hunger so that we hunger for Him and realize truth - that all good comes from Him - we do not get the credit! I enjoyed writing notes of these and 2Tim3 to note God’s jobs and mine and the conditional statements

    • @feeltheforce10

      You are understanding this incorrectly.Yahweh was the " God " in Deuteronomy speaking to his people the Israelites.Yahweh was God to Israel only.An evil being who carried out genocides etc.Do not confuse this Yahweh as being " God " that you have a concept of....its for Israel only.Read it and see it says YOUR God,,,,,it was for the people of Israel only.
      Deuteronomy 8:18-20
      18 But you shall remember Yahweh your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is today.
      19 It shall be, if you shall forget Yahweh your God, and walk after other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you today that you shall surely perish. 20 As the nations that Yahweh makes to perish before you, so you shall perish, because you wouldn’t listen to Yahweh your God’s voice.

    Dr TK, been listening to you since the 90s. You note here that Joseph was a 'spoiled brat.' Please found that in scripture for us. Yes, he spoke his dream out loud to his brothers. Truth and revelation, yes....but also bratty? He accepted and wore the gifts his father gave him...a dysfunctional family yes...but Joseph then => bratty? Joseph was clearly insightful, accepted his role in the universe and was a gifted administrator. Do the lenses of Americans in this epoch see that as 'spoiled brat'? Pls kindly found your decription of Joseph, as correct.

      If this is all you got out of this short sermon, you need to get a life (spiritual). The gist of his message would not have change one-bit whether Joseph was a "brat" or not. Please read the title of the message again: Trusting God - not the goodness of Josep - in difficult times.
