Always been a big fan of Kejelcha, love his competitiveness you can see every time he races that he wants to win badly. Based on the sheer strength of his PRs and incredible versatility I’d put him easily top 10 distance runners all time
Kipchoge didn’t become a household name until he left the track and hit the roads - and even then, his stardom didn’t come overnight. I sense the same for Kejelcha, and I think that will be to his benefit. It’s hard to perform well when all eyes are on you with the highest of expectations.
A lot of fans really love Kejelcha, though. He's always a contender and he's a tough competitor. He front runs a lot, which means that he's probably missed out on some medals that he otherwise could have won, but he's pushed a lot of other runners to medals and PBs. I think he has the respect of his competitors and I love to see him run. And he has a couple of WRs, which is significant.
I remember doing 400 workouts, in HS, I'd do 70's and I thought that was fast. Later in College I ended up doing those in like 60's and that felt much easier than my 70's in HS lol. But to do those non-stop for half marathon. That's a different level

not just knowing to be fast, but also actually _being_ fast when needed. Nobody can keep up when he's pushing his max pace over the whole race but his kick isn't strong enough to keep up with the competition

Kejelcha is very good runner. One of his weakness is finish (ie absolute speed at the fisish). But unfortunatelly that is what wins medals.... But he can concentrate on breaking records... I think he has one WR from indoor already.
It will be exciting to see him run marathons someday. I am a bit concerned that he used to train with Salazar, but these elites may all be playing by a different set of rules forced upon them.

Also one should not split videos about running into two kinds a) we have never seen anything like this and b) running has a problem. Wouldn"t it be possible to find some middle road in tone as b) is often the result of a) - and it is very hard to say when it is the case and when it is not.? Personally, I am a fan of Kejelcha. @@Thoth19 I did 2x5x400m on Tuesday as a workout for the 800m, the pace was indicated 3'000m, but since I am better at strength than speed, I ran the first 5 in a bit faster than 2'000m pace, but the last 5 progressively faster from around mile pace to 1'000m pace.
Now, the 3'000m pace that I considered was below my personal best, but a time I am capable of, so I made up my mind for 9:15 pace (so 74s 400m), but I started with 71s the first three and 70s the next two, with 2min breaks. Then came a 4min serial break and I picked up at 69s, then dropped to 67s, 66s, 65s and the last 64s and it still was not too hard. I can easily do a 4x400m in 64s, in fact I already did that with a less good than current shape and it was pretty easy, with 2min breaks.
I'm going to speculate a bit here. The people of the rural East African Highlands have three key advantages over their urban counterparts in the same region: 1. Their BMI rarely exceeds 25. 2. They have superior oxygen usage and intake when they descend to lower elevations. 3. And a potential third advantage, based on recent findings from the Proceedings of the National Science Foundation (PNSF). Animal studies involving rodents have shown that exposure to certain levels of carbon monoxide during fetal development can lead to lung function issues. Given the low levels of auto emissions in the East African Highlands, it’s possible that runners in these areas benefit from cleaner air. If this link holds true-and I’m speculating here-it’s another compelling reason to limit auto emissions. Running is all about extending our health span, and great runners contribute to the well-being of all of us. Thank you. ❤️
you forgot the biggest advantage... they eat a high carb low fat diet of starch/fruit. another big factor is they run on dirt roads. 140mpw on dirt is 90mpw on road

In my opinion I don’t think he’s even close to the greatest of all time. To be the greatest you need have won back to back Olympics. Multiple world medals. I don’t think times matter that much. It’s easy to have a good race here and there but to be able to show up when it matters most is what makes u great. Doesn’t mean he can’t be the greatest but currently he’s not

kejelcha only does well in fast pace races where his leg endurance gives him a massive advantage which is why i think he could do well in marathons.
