I think it's crazy to think that Gurren Lagann isnt as popular as it used to be. Forget how old it is. Literally the biggest reason I watched Kill La Kill was cause it was coming from people who worked on Gurren Lagann. I did a video about Haruhi a couple of weeks ago and the first thing I noticed when researching about it was exactly this situation, I was amazed by how little people had watched or even knew about it now a days, it used to be everywhere that you could never get away from it for too long, now... I found that extremely curious and made me think of how many huge and famous shows back in the day are now just a spec in the vastness of the community.

Eh one thing I'll give credit to Shonen anime now is I really think they make it more dangerous for characters so to say. In old 2000s anime nobody really dies. I mean a few do. But none of our main cast or in those shows they never really felt threatened. In some more modern shows they will kill off people. It just honestly makes the show better for me. So yeah. To win me over.... kill.

I watched Hibike when it first came out and it was mehhh. Now almost a decade later, it is very much on top of my list , alongside Violet Evergarden and Haruhi.
You are comparing Spotify to TH-cam. The vast majority of people use MAL to make their Anime List, it's in the name. The main focus of ANN is news and rankings of anime. You can use both, they are not mutually exclusive to one another.
Back then, when anime had the stigma of being cringe or called a cartoon. Now there's a podcast for talking about anime. How things have evolved. Animax, Tokyo Otaku Mode. All the old stuff
As someone who's watched all of Chihayafuru and is waiting for more, I have to agree it is a niche anime. I have yet to meet another anime fan in my friend group that even knows of it, let alone its concept
I know the concept and have been meaning to watch it, but I'm kinda scared of really beautiful looking shows so I've got shows like Chihayafuru and Violet Evergarden on a to watch list I've never gotten to
I agree it a niche anime. The main character chihaya is kinds of annoying in my opinion. She win she cry she lose she cry. The supports character better (Arata and Taichi) has better character development. I don't really remember if she have any strategy to the game. I remember watching 50 episodes of it. I like watching anime my favorite table games are march come in like a lion - shogi and saki - mahjong .
I love chihiya furu. it's great. I've only seen season 1. But I really liked it. I've been meaning to watch the other 2 seasons. I watched it for the first time about 2 months ago but I'm taking a break before watching the rest.
Looking through that top 50 it makes perfect sense why he'd pick that one. I mean it's ranked higher than many all time greats.. and no one ever heard of it ? O.o
Eureka Seven is pretty obscure these days, though I believe it was quite popular back when it was airing and even won some awards - whenever I bring it up in online forums, those few weebs who have seen it speak fondly of it. It doesn't help that only the original series is considered good while all the spinoffs, sequels and reboots are considered mediocre at best and unwatchable at worst.
Eureka Seven AO back in 2017 when I first got into anime and I really enjoyed it. I can't remember much about it now but I only ever heard people who liked the original talk bad about it. I haven't ever watched the original Eureka Seven but was it that much better than AO?
they joke about starting OP in alabasta... I did exactly that. have never read a single thing that came from before that arc. Still following it currently tho
Well, ANN and MAL top 100 both have their weird stuff. Maria sama being one example, but I'm surprised to not see Sangatsu no Lion on ANN I use MAL and the score here is often a good indicator whether some thing is good or controversial, personally I find a lot of shows over 8,5 overscored, like with Made in Abyss S2 which is getting a lot of criticism in discussions but it is what it is And I'm watching Chihayafuru rn, at the end of S2, actually have dropped S1 like 2,5-3 years ago but back at it and I love it, though I have my complaints about some of the characters
@@BSPancake I've seen season 3 and it's good but most definitely doesn't deserve it's spot in the top 10 let alone top 2. There still hasn't been a show of the quality that can surpass shows like Fmab, Gintama, Steins gate and LoGH
I’ve seen all seasons of Kaguya. S3 was good but other than the last few episodes the season was just average Kaguya stuff, I don’t think it deserves the #1 spot. It’s a 9/10 for me
It felt like a slice of life plus i learned a game thing could of been chess i agree or anything but i loved it Haruhi confused me never got a back story or a tour arc Maria Watches Over Us??? mhm💀❤ clannad 😭
Both ANN and MAL have heavy shounen bias, so you really can’t trust either fully, but once you know what you like, it can be a good guide. I find ANN is best for what’s in its name: Anime News, but for getting info about shows, I find MAL has much better presentation of info and better interlinking. ANN has no character pages which I find quite annoying. MAL has a more brutal shounen bias, which I also find annoying. Lastly, Black Clover has got to be the most disappointing Shonen Jump title ever.

I don't like anime, but even I've watched, and rather enjoyed Haruhi. So I don't think it's niche as much as it is the passage of time. Niche would be when it is catered or made towards a specific subset of people.
What the purpose of watch in endless eight if the episodes is almost the exact samething. It the last episode that is important. I watch like 3 episodes then I quit. The manga that is based. The plots of the storyline is probably like 30 - 40 page. The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

@@hamzamalik7851 it's not that though, when anything goes above or gets close it gets downvoted with 1s from fanboys, which ruins the database and in general is pretty pathetic.
KyoAni shows always demand its audience to be emotionally mature to a certain extent to appreciate it. A plus if you have an eye for good animation. I watched Hibike when it first came out and it was mehhh. Now almost a decade later, it is very much on top of my list , alongside Violet Evergarden and Haruhi.
Don't mean to be confrontational but what did you like about Violet Evergarden?
I've used ANN top list since like '07, I trust it so much more than MAL lists lmfao
You are comparing Spotify to TH-cam. The vast majority of people use MAL to make their Anime List, it's in the name. The main focus of ANN is news and rankings of anime. You can use both, they are not mutually exclusive to one another.
Imagine using ANN or MAL .
Couldnt be me.
Use anilist boys.
I think Anilist has a slightly better UI in terms of aesthetics. But at this point I'm too lazy to shift just for that lol.
And then there's me
I like anime planets interface the best
I don’t use any🙃
I swapped to AniList around 4 or 5 years ago when MAL had some kind of drama or something and I have not looked back since.
Chiyafaru is more popular in the west than you may think, it's currently the most popular and well known Josei anime.
True, but Josei itself is pretty niche.
Bro when they mentioned Maria-sama ga miteru i freaked out as a yuri pleb 💀💀💀
Looking through that top 50 it makes perfect sense why he'd pick that one. I mean it's ranked higher than many all time greats.. and no one ever heard of it ? O.o
Chihayafuru got three seasons, I'd say it has a good following
Is funny seeing how this video is from before the ending of Kaguya-sama made the rating on MAL fucking explode for a month.
Both ousama ranking and odd taxi has been in the top 50 Mal rankings.
i can't believe someone knows Maria watches over us!
Endless Eight is like the challenge to prove that you are a real anime fan. If you cant finish it, you are still a normie.
Gintama being the best fandom and we don't care about ratings
11:36 It happened again with Kaguya Sama's 3rd Season
I've never actually watched Haruhi Suzumiya. I've only read the light novels. I believe Endless Eight was the first chapter in Rampage
ANN lists are great
Whatever gets me my anime I’m down
Completed sword art online series
Watching evangelion
Then gurren lagann
Suzumiya haruhi
One by one
Ah, boy is this one gonna be spicy. XD
the new Thumbnail made me think this was an unofficial channel
Does anyone know the anime Mai Hime? I feel like that's obscure. It has a amazing soundtrack. I really liked it.
i understand how connor feels, i've watched noragami aragoto before noragami
Thanks for the anime content it's always great to hear talk about anime that's why I know you guys and that's what I listen to you for.
they joke about starting OP in alabasta...
I did exactly that. have never read a single thing that came from before that arc. Still following it currently tho
Well, ANN and MAL top 100 both have their weird stuff. Maria sama being one example, but I'm surprised to not see Sangatsu no Lion on ANN
I use MAL and the score here is often a good indicator whether some thing is good or controversial, personally I find a lot of shows over 8,5 overscored, like with Made in Abyss S2 which is getting a lot of criticism in discussions but it is what it is
And I'm watching Chihayafuru rn, at the end of S2, actually have dropped S1 like 2,5-3 years ago but back at it and I love it, though I have my complaints about some of the characters
We always need a good reminder why this show is called trash taste
bruh, I know I didn't watched Chihayafuru but I still know of its existence but damn too many don't know of it.
This has to be before Kaguya’s finale cause there’s lists don’t match up on screen
Miami News Network? Spotify users must've been sooo confused.
chihayafuru is one of my favorite animes and i don't really even anime that much... but I did A LOT 2014-2019 so i guess that makes sense
Well Kaguya-sama finished over a month ago now so I think the fact that it has the same score as FMAB speaks volumes to how good it is
Because you can totally count on strangers to be 100% honest with their ratings
😂😂😂
@@nelisezpasce That logic isn't flawed in the slightest. How do you think any sort of media gets their scores on any platform? Just curious.
It’s a 9/10 for me
Both quiver under the sheer weight that was THE ANIME ZONE DAMNIT
Everyone has that one show...
For me it's Haruhi
MAL has a bizarre community that makes it hard to use
it happened with aot season 4 part 1. it got to one and it got so many 1 star ratings it plummeled to like 10 in days. crazy people.
I love using anime news network 😁
It felt like a slice of life plus i learned a game thing could of been chess i agree or anything but i loved it
Haruhi confused me never got a back story or a tour arc
Maria Watches Over Us??? mhm💀❤
clannad 😭
Both ANN and MAL have heavy shounen bias, so you really can’t trust either fully, but once you know what you like, it can be a good guide. I find ANN is best for what’s in its name: Anime News, but for getting info about shows, I find MAL has much better presentation of info and better interlinking. ANN has no character pages which I find quite annoying. MAL has a more brutal shounen bias, which I also find annoying.
Lastly, Black Clover has got to be the most disappointing Shonen Jump title ever.
full metal alchemist brotherhood isnt biased
@@animoments8969 it definitely is bias
@@DrKratso my mistake i wanted to say its technicaly not shonen.
even thogh its not in my top ten i think it deserves the number spot i understan why its so highly rated
I just checked ANN list after watching this episode of TT and I must say there are way more josei and shoujo animes listed there.
@@animoments8969 it's definitely high in the top 100, but also definitely not top 1, I agree
Garnt I'm with you though the world be against us! Code Geas best anime ending ever. Purple eyes destroyed the characters for me. You own a slip'n slide?
The look at proZD and then asking how? 😂
i know karuta bacause of chihayafuru when it broadcasted on animax asia
MAL needs to stop letting sequels rank at all on the board it literally just means anyone who liked a show enough to watch season 2 will rate it highly, it's literally broken and they don't care
Chihayafuru was so good
Wow in my opinion Clannad was one of the only Slice of life animes that didnt bore me at some point and i dont know why
Kinda intrigued by this FMA top of MAL coup de etat political intrigue. If someone made a parody and just went full Legend of the Galatic Heroes with it, Id give it a watch
Connor right on brand
I mean, you can't really give shit to 17 year old Connor for not knowing what anime to watch in what order. When I just got into anime I watched the first few episodes of 'Naruto Shippuden' before realising "wait, this doesn't seem like a beginning..." and only then I found out that 'Naruto' was a thing.
i just know chihayafuru from crunhyroll ads
Well RIP ANN accuracy
I don't like anime, but even I've watched, and rather enjoyed Haruhi. So I don't think it's niche as much as it is the passage of time. Niche would be when it is catered or made towards a specific subset of people.
Chihayafuru was defo not niche where I'm from cause they broadcast it on tv in Animax,
I can confirm idk what they talking about
What the purpose of watch in endless eight if the episodes is almost the exact samething. It the last episode that is important. I watch like 3 episodes then I quit.
The manga that is based. The plots of the storyline is probably like 30 - 40 page. The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
Dunno but yea haruhi didn't take my eyes that much i just thought back then it was an anime icon that's ig and didn't try to watch it in order so yea I'll try to give it a try soon
