"The Ethiopic Version of the Life of Abraham of Qidun (CPG 3937): A New Trajectory in the Ethiopic Reception of Syriac Literature"
This talk discusses sections of my book project which explores the theological significance of food, gluttony, and gustation in ancient Christian discourse. I focus primarily on Syriac sources and use examples from poetic and hagiographic discourse to illustrate how ancient Christians used the notion of food desires to think through questions about human transience and the spirit’s longing for God.
