    I am in my 50s and just sitting my A license, been running about on my 17yo sons 125 and been loving it. I’m not a speed freak. I live in rural Scotland and I think the Scrambler would be ideal for me.

      Definitely, I was at first interested in speed but then the scrambler was launched and the decision was an instant change, because the roads in India aren't free of potholes, so even though I might not take it soft roading too often, it will have the best ride in city too

    My normal ride is a Bandit 1250. Took a test ride on a Speed 400 for a friend who's getting her licence soon. A little touchy in 1st & 2nd, but once used to it, no issues. Such a joy to ride.
    If it was the only bike on earth, I'd happily ride to work daily & hit the twisties on the weekend (or on the long way home).

    Bought Scrambler 400X in New Delhi, India. These twins have disrupted the bikes market here as RE was dominating it earlier. Honda also had to reduce their latest CB300r prices by around 15-20% so that they can also fall in the same price bracket.
    The built quality has lot of focus on attention to detail which RE usually lacks in their bikes.
    The best part is riding in traffic,since the bike doesn't require constant gear shifting, it can easily ride at a speed of 40kmph on 5th gear!

      Not sure if there will be a Thruxton 400. The spy shots of the next model looks like a Speed 400 RR.

    Seeing them in the flesh, the 400s are bigger and better looking than the 900 siblings. They might get Bajaj to make the refreshed versions of those.

    Great Review! I am also 6'3" so this helped me a lot. Though the bigger cc triumph scramblers would be great the 12-15k price tag is more than I can spend right now. knowing that I could fit reasonably well on the scrambler 400x is very encouraging. Now just impatiently waiting on my dealer to get some in so I can test ride one lol.

    all my friends laughed at me (because id have to refuel more often and spending more on fuel) when i told them that my scrambler gave around 75 miles per gallon(30 kmpl), but then again in my country most bikes people buy give about 120-140 miles per gallon or even more but have low displacement

    Here in India many owners are having issues like Stalling, RPM Fluctuations on idle, Alloy bend, Engine noise. And Brand here are not acknowledging it fully. We would like to here if any issues there. I know its too soon for you feel as pretty new rides.

    Very good review, thanks for sharing. I’d probably buy the Speed (of the two) as I’m a smaller guy and want the better on tarmac dynamics it offers. Shame Triumph couldn’t offer the tank colours in the traditional split colours - not too keen on the big sprawling T-logo on the Speed. As I have a rather lovely old Yamaha single, the 600SRX with electric start, delta box frame and Brembo master cylinders, it’s a keeper so will have to give the new baby Trumpet a miss.

    Check this engine's torque curve.. this produces 30+Nm at 3000rpm itself. Scramblers smaller engine side sprocket will further help to pull the vehicle better. For a single cylinder engine this is one of well thought and designed one..

    How about vibrations? Are they annoying? At which speed do they appear the most?

    • @BikeMatters
      @BikeMatters  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Vibrations weren't too annoying for me at all, only really noticeable at 6k revs onwards - but even then not to a bad degree. Other riders may find the vibrations a tad more intrusive, though, so well worth a test ride if it could be a deal breaker.

    10,000 miles service. Oh my goodness. This wipes the floor with everything, in particular those 3000 mile service bikes.
    Love the scrambler, I'm only 5 foot,7. Wonder if this will be ok for me.
    Maybe 6th gear should have been more of an overdrive.

    I would sure like to see something original in these videos. It looks as if everyone has used the same photographer and simply placed themselves in the shot. I have seen six or more and they are all the same. It almost sounds like they are reading from a Triumph script. It might be refreshing to see something new when they get here to the US.

    Performance and styling are spot on as is the ultimate truth that riding a slow bike fast is more fun than riding a fast bike slow. However.
    I went to see one in the flesh and it had no presence. It was underwhelming and would disappear into the background at a bike meeting. It was about 10% smaller than I expected in essence the same size as a 125 I own. I bought a BMW g310r instead.

      These Triumphs are overpriced & fitted with tech crap they don’t need & tacky gold wrong way up forks . If your 125 is only a grand cheaper ,that must be over priced too . A 125 should only cost about 3 grand tops . A 400 single 4 & half grand tops on the road .

      @@maskedavenger2578 Mind you, even 4 and a half sounds outrageous when I look back, £4200 for a brand new GXR1100 J. Being an old fart, it's really hard not to look back and wonder where it all went wrong. Nice bikes though.

      @@maskedavenger2578Agree on the gaudy gold forks. But the tech on offer is riding oriented (slip and assist clutch, ride by wire, TC and ABS. None of that connected console gimmics like the KTM Duke 390, or even the new RE Himalayan 450.
      I'm curious about how the pricing compares to the competition over there. It's priced very well in it's segment indeed here in India. But that may be a home manufacturing advantage.

    • @maskedavenger2578
      @maskedavenger2578 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@the_winged_helm An experienced rider should not require aids in order to control a bike , change gear up or down correctly . They also should be able to control any motorcycle using standard controls ,in all weather conditions . The less electrical tech ,the less chance of it causing issues in the middle of nowhere . I would of thought the Indian motorcyclist preferred motorcycles without unnecessary gimmicks , at a more economical price ,& easier to maintain by the home mechanic ,using basic tools . I have no idea on pricing regards India & the far east ,I should imagine Indian produced motorcycles for export to Europe ,may have to meet different Euro regulations ,making them more expensive than bikes meeting Indian regulation requirements .

    Hello everyone, I see a lot of good feedback about the Speed 400. Two days ago, I also ordered one myself. It's been 6 years since I last rode a motorcycle, and before I had a Daytona 675. This one will be three times weaker, but do you think it's enough for both city and countryside rides? Also, do you happen to know what the TR series (TR letters) means? And one last question, how much did Triumph contribute to the creation of the engine? Is it purely Bajaj's work, as one of the dealership employees said they are all manufactured on the same line as the KTM Duke 390 and Husqvarna. I'd like even the smallest detail to be purely Triumph-made. :)))

      I've just been trying to look for a video I saw a few months ago, but can't find it.This would have answered your development questions as it was an interview with one of the team at triumph who designed it. Basically the whole bike, engine, body parts etc were developed in this country by UK people. The only reason they have other countries producing them is purely so they can price it competitively against other makes. So don't listen to the people trying to claim it's an Indian product!!

    • @soundspecies
      @soundspecies 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      All the designs are by Triumph, Bajaj is manufacturing for them on entirely separate plants and lines from either KTM and Husquarna bikes. There were a few videos explaining this around the time the bikes were first launched in India.
      Really love the scrambler in khaki green, gorgeous styling, peppy engine, great handling, great build quality and attention to detail👌 perfect for my usage in a semi-urban environment in India. I already have an Interceptor 650 and the scrambler will be its versatile stablemate.
