working 3 wide semi-auto brickshooter lego pistol tutorial

- this pistol is a great desk ornament, and fidget toy, i can do many "sick reloads" and aside from it's piss poor range, it's got great accuracy (it's really not an outdoors shooter, but you can hit stuff around you)
i made instructions: • working semi-auto lego...
but i urge you to understand how this prototype works, and build a better one : )

(piece by piece recreation in Lego Digital Designer)
That mechanism is absolutely genius, im floored by how small and reliable it is. The most I could accomplish was a single action hammer fire pistol capable of operation with one hand. The closest I've gotten to semi auto is a long trigger pull disasterpiece. This design you have here long a tad messy but in my eyes it's compact and elegant for its size. I hope to see more of these new generation semi autos... amazing! cheers!
this would be a 4 long trigger pull too, if it weren't for that pulley
i'm thinking of a better version where the pulley moves the lock and not the other way around, would make a cool luger but i may not be smart enough to make it
How hard does this shoot doe? Is it powerful?
I’ve found him, I’ve found the true god of lego engineering
so how many levels of german engineering are you on? oh me? well someone called me the god of lego engineering so i'd assume like 4 or 5
This is the first time I see a working lego semi auto gun that shoots bricks. Very well done!!
i'v made semi auto brick shooters before but man, yours is so much better. in a lot of videos people say their mini pistol is 3 studs wide, but they aren't, yours however, is. that is a super compact system. really, great job.
could he 2 studs shorter, but the extra weight in the front makes it more fun to flip and do tricks with
Duuuuuude love this pistol is trully art
great video dude, especially love the music
thank you
you're welcome
instructions when?
What?
@@di3gogato566 bro same i dont understand why he is replying to himself
Now seriosly, do you know wath did you make?
A 3 studs wide
B mag feed
C semiauto
D wery small
Genius!
see the idea was magazine fed
then i looked at a luger and thought "yeah, top thing go bend" and made a proof of concept, then realized i could put that below the barrel like a tactical flashlight
it could actually be smaller, the last 2 studs at the muzzle are for extra weight so i can twirl my gun around easier
and the 3 wide thing was a given, i'm a compact kind-a guy
When my brother was 8 he once made a lego gun that he said was semi automatic. He said that he would fire the gun then either rubber bands or suspension peices primed the bolt back making it ready to fire again. I got the idea to make a semi automatic lego gun that worked almost the same and thought “why not I search up on TH-cam if someone has made on yet.” And I found this nice video
you can't make truly semi-automatic guns, unless they shoot rubber bands or the energy is somehow self-contained in the ammo, mine is double action, where the trigger does the work, and he probably made something where the trigger moved the slide back, and then when he let go it went back
The best moc i ve ever seen
i'll take that comment, and give you a revolver idea in return
th-cam.com/video/09ZFGnl4GSY/w-d-xo.html
@@Retrad_ Damn. I d recently tried to build something the same but in a smaller frame with the standard cylinder before you sent me this. Did u get the idea from the colt single action revolver?
@@RL-dr1fl i did not know colts rotated the cylinder with the hammer, but i guess it only makes sense
i copied the idea from this gif of a similarly western looking revolver:
qph.fs.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-f6676d92cddc151e4bd6c3252119035d
@@Retrad_ I think it is the Schofield model 3. It has the same system of turning a cylinder like the Colt single action revolver.
@@RL-dr1fl bold of you to assume i know how to make tutorials
but here it is anyway : )

Man! That's a complex one, well done!
This is the start of something big
that's the most genius idea I have ever seen, the toggle lock. I needa try making something like this. It's basically like when you kick the back of someones knee, and they totally collapse.
What an interesting design! I've reverse-engineered Xubor and Zack Macasaet's double action handguns and Xubor's was a pain to figure out and laughably complex (but satisfying), Zack's is way simpler and obvious, but the trigger pull on it is atrocious, you do get good power out of it and it should be easy to shorten, but this design is genious, extra points for having a real toggle lock, very well done!
Bro you're just a genius!
Incredible design 👍
Wow this is the kind of semi auto lego gun i had always dreamed of as a kid but i wasn't advanced enough go come up with anything close to this even though i had seen this sort of mechanism in larger models.
I also didnt have enough pieces
Man its been years i dont get to construct anything
i overcomplicated it, but it's just an open bolt thing with a double action trigger, the pulley just makes it work better
@@Retrad_ it's not the mechanism that is new to me but the way you managed to make it so compact
subtitle: ''peanuts intensifies''
you're probably the first person to watch it with captions
finally, real lego-pistol
So cool! Tutorial pls!!!
i already have, it's in the description
Stunning how did you do this I thought it was impossible, like how can you make a semi auto brick shooter without a motor
simple, you only move the trigger so that's where the kinetic energy has to come from
then you take a look at early autoloading pistols, learn about "short recoil" systems, and use your trigger finger as the "recoil"
then you take a good look at double action mechanisms, and... point is it's simple : )
@@Retrad_ a simple point seems to be confusing for me
@@Fatjig exactly but his research is amazing, and I couldn't do this myself if I were to try for 20 years probably
basically pulling the trigger back moves the striker back, and its connected to a spring or rubber band, and when when you pull it back enough it unlocks the the striker from the trigger, allowing it to move freely, so it gets pulled by the rubber band and hits the bullet
Fucking genius. I adore it.
This is possibly the coolest shit I've ever seen
Compared to single action pistols this is a bit weak but I'm sure you could make it more powerful.
the biggest factor holding it back right now is the square frame under the barrel, if it was stronger i could have stronger bands
For further projectior shooting add more rubber bands
no, the trigger has it'S mechanical limits and if you put too much force on it, older lego pieces could brake
wow i really like this can u make tut?
Now just add some gearbox which is powered by a spring to make this Full Auto.
My idea is that there is a gearbox (basically a ratchet mechanism) which is connected to a spring which you coil back. The sprint wants the mechanism to turn but the ratchet is stopping it. That ratchet is your trigger.
If you release it, it will go to the secondary trigger attached to the semi auto mechanism. The rotary motion of the gearbox goes to a piston which moves the trigger back and fourth.
This continues because the ratchet won’t be stopped at all.
Of course you would have to wind it every time you empty the mag...
i wanted to make a clockwork gun for a while, but mine would be semi-auto instead
@@Retrad_ I like the mechanism of your gun though! Pretty interesting and compact!
good vid
turned it into a glock 17 with blowback slide. when empty it locks back like the real one :)
it is already blowback, but i didn't wanna advertise as such, i put a paper slide on it, attached to the back, and it's exactly as you'd expect
now i kinda wanna see the glock version ngl
and how did you get a last round hold-open? the best i can do is to trip a slide lock on the last round, making the shot really weak, but locking the equivalent of the slide back
@@Retrad_ the mag pusher thing stops the firing pin thing and holds it back. its harder to shoot though because of the weight of the lego slide and kinda weak because of the rubber band that makes it shoot. its an amazing mechanisim keep up the good work you've earned my sub :)
@@Collins_misadventures i've argued about this with someone, the moving parts aren't really heavy, and the rubber bands can easily accelerate them
the problem is that 1) rubber bands have a speed limit and 2) yes, oh god the magazine slows the firing pin down sooo much, it takes like half the power of the shot and because it's an "open bolt" design it'll sadly stay like that
This is amazing!
Looking so well!
dude how did you come up with this just how were you able to create a lego gun that reloads as it shoots
look up "open bolt smg slow motion" because that's really close to this
every mag fed lego gun you see is open bolt feeding from a mag 90 degrees away, only difference is i made it double action and small
Fucking genius if you ask me
Although nonexistent power
Please make instructions🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
holy crap
Hello, please make a tutorial on thread tension, I suffer all day and I can’t pull it
if you have discord, there's a really old thread hidden somewhere about it on my server
Can you possibly supply a bricklink link so I can find some of the parts I don't have to complete this? Thanks
this video has the .xlf file for Lego Digital Designer and with a few clipping errors stud.io can open it too, those programmes should be able to generate a bricklink listing for ya'
Thanks, I was following the xlf file to begin with, this should help!
Can you lease make a video on how to attach the rubber bands
that's also up on the discord
Very nice i subbed
I did everything that was shown in this and your other video but it didn't work.
it's a finicky mechanism for sure, a car's engine won't run on the wrong mixture, or timing
here are some solutions:
-if the locks don't open push the triangle piece forward a veeery little bit
-if it opens too soon and doesn't pick up a bullet then push the triangle farther back
-if the striker doesn't move back far enough you need to tighten the string
-if it shoots weak you need a stronger rubber band
-if you feel like you're about to brake the trigger use a weaker rubber band
all in all play around with your rubber band mounting at the front, make sure your string is tight, and that triangle piece that opens the bolt, well that's designed to be adjustable, it takes power to move, but it'll stay there
@@Retrad_ Yeah, the magazine is easy to make and is a great idea which I will definitely use.
Geniuses
I have a problem with the lock opening too early And not fully closing
you nay need tighter rubber bands in the locks, they have to slightly bend inwards to keep the tendion, they need to be reset correctly or else they'll buckle
@@Retrad_ Ok thanks
I never I need advice. when I press the trigger, I'm afraid it will break. I mean, just where my finger is
you'll have to use a weaker rubber band i'm afraid, and use really strong half stud bushings for the trigger, if they can't slip, it'll act more sturdy
better watch kevin183
In the tutorial you didn’t show where to put the rubber band
i didn't think i needed to but i got a lot of comments about that, details are on my discord server

i don't speak your language but these are the instructions : )
Kinda reminds me of the wing man from apex
god i wish it could open like that
it's supposed to look like a 1911 with a fleshlight under the barrel
Wow ur very skilled! I was wondering if your could make a fully functioning wingman from apex legends bcuz I bet you can do it
i probably could, but how would it work? i think those big bits only open when you change cylinders, i could have a really beefy magazine release switch that explodes the frame, and then a SA/DA revolver in the grip, that's what i'd do
I think it could be a normal revolver, but if you click a certain button, the cylinder sticks out so you can load it. Doesn’t have to come off like in the real model, just has to stick out
where is tutorial
@@timurplay-ez4zc there is a "how to build" video, this is more of a "how it works"
I swear to god I'm gonna lose my mind with this thing, how the hell is the string supposed to be attached, I saw that it's wired on a 3m pin but I cannot figure out how to make it stay, could you explain to me how is the string attached because I am stuck at this point
first let's go over how to place it:
put the rubber bands in so the bolt wants to stay shut, tie string to bolt, thread it through the roller piece, and pull it tight, so the bolt aaalmost starts to move
then, a normal person would just tie it to the frame with a knot, it's lego figure out how
i only have one string and redesign the gun every month or so, so i have an unexplainable amount of turns in my string, i'm talking
-wind around a piece at the top so it'll go down straight
-down to the frame, wind around that too
-up and down slalom between pins holding the frame together
what you see, is where i keep it wound up, it's not actually load baring i just keep the rest of it there kinda tightened but not really
point is:
-figure it out, it's lego
-use a knot, it's faster
I can’t get it to work. I dont know how to place the string
you tie it to the red piece first, the one that moves the bolt
then you thread it through between the roller and same but fixed piece, at the top of the toggle lock
then, you take the rest of the string, pull it tight, and tie it to the front of the frame somewhere
i'd suggest having the bolt under rubber band pressure already, and the trigger has to be as front as it goes, pull the string tight, and when the bolt juuuuust begins to move, you tie it down
Thank you so much. Then I will rebuild it and do what you said😃
I don't get where to put the string pls help :)
you tie one end to the red piece at the front of the bolt carrier, the middle goes behind the roller on the trigger block, you pull it tight, and fasten the other end to the frame
anywhere on the frame, find a mounting point and tie a knot on it (once you're sure it's tight enough)
My wing on the side won't open 😅
the left or right side? if it's the left, you have to push the angled surface closer, less than a milimeter, that part is very important for timing, so take it off, adjust it a little, and eventually it should work
you'll notice how high the resistance is when you want to move that 3 long piece forward or back, it's built to handle the pressure and stay in a specific spot
if that opens but the other side doesn't i'll have to do my research, but i'd say try pushing on the firing pin and see if extra pressure opens it, i think
@@Retrad_ the right side
Do u have discord I can send pic there
@@FrogoYT_ really sorry but i'm like an old man when it comes to stuff like that
but really try moving that 3 long piece with the stud at the front moving forward, then try shooting without a magazine to see how far your firing pin goes before it "shoots" because you want to be able to chamber a round, there's a sweet spot between opening too early and not opening at all
@@Retrad_ when I do that the string will snap
Do you think you can make instructions
O you made them can't wait to make it
Can u make a tutorial for this
already have!
i have a building instructions video of this gun
yea mine does not work at all
join discord, has guide to fix
I may have been the first person to succesfully build this son of b*tch pistol and actually make it work and the range of mine is not too bad compared to your version thanks to a stronger rubberband but that made the trigger a real pain to pull back
i needed to use a weaker band because the mechanism isn't optimised very well, imagine a pillar holding a roof, but if the roof is too heavy the pillar starts rotating sideways
at least 2 people already built it, and at least one of those shoots
@@Retrad_ lol i shot it like 30 times yesterday and now I have a bruise near my thumb where that curve on the grip is pushed into my palm
@@analpilsner215 yeah, it's really made for my hand in specific... you could try changing the grip a bit, it's lego and i don't think it would mechanically ruin the gun
@@Retrad_ thanks for the information :)

the "how to build" video is linked in the description
Please tourist
I built it but it won't shoot 😭
tell me exactly what the problem is, here's a tip: that sloped surface that opens the lock, if you push it furtger forward, the lock will open sooner
it's very precise and there *is* a sweetspot, but that's my guess
@@Retrad_ when every I pull the trigger only the mechanism move not the top bit that shoot out
@@FrogoYT_ so the big block moves, the little wings on the side should open, and if you have a string in there, the big block should pull the top bit back as well
you do have the string, right?
@@Retrad_ nope
@@FrogoYT_ you tie the string to the red bit at the end of the top part
thread it through the roller wheel thing in the trigger block thing
tie the other end to some part of the frame in the front, make sure the string is tight when rubber bands force the top part forward (if you try to pull the string tight, the top part will move back on it's own)
