    Hell yeah I’ve been considering sticking a trim tab on my prostar. Definitely looking forward to seeing where this goes

    Had this same idea last year but wasn’t ready to pull the trigger on my direct drive. V drive this summer will be doing this for sure!

      This year I'm going to reposition the actuators down a lot lower and make a new plate that also helps make the boat yaw a bit
      Should be putting it all up on thd channel as well. Stay tuned

    Dude, thank you so much for this video. I saw them and didn’t think they would work for how cheap they are but now I’m thinking about buying them.

      I'm making version 2.0 this season. Gonna try with a longer and wider plate bolted onto the existing plate

    Did you ever post a video of the installation? Would love to know if you modified the shape of the tabs!

    • @GearsAndTech
      @GearsAndTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Install just happened today. Lake test is this weekend
      The video will be out sometime next week.
      I did not modify the shape of the tabs, but I did do a little truck to the mounting that you'll want to see

    Another great boat video 👍.
    Do you know how a surf system works on a jetboat like a scarab or something like this ?

    • @GearsAndTech
      @GearsAndTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The short answer is that a jet boat should be avoided at all costs for surfing
      There are ways to make them surf pretty good. But it'll never be a great surf boat and requires a lot of effort to surf one

    When is the next video. I built my own surf system also. But went with gates as I think they worked better then tabs. Looking forward to your. Set up.

      Install is happening tomorrow.
      Video will take a week or so to get edited
      Lake test will be this weekend. If it works good I'll do a short showing the wave then.

    Will you be installing this like the GSA system and listing the boat with the tabs or like the Malibu surf gate system? I’ll be doing the same but not sure which system works best

    • @GearsAndTech
      @GearsAndTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      GSA, its the only way to do it!

    • @dylanpham1436
      @dylanpham1436 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I figured the surf gates would be advantageous in that the boat would be level regardless of surfing on either side similar to using the suction cup gates

      I explain the systems in this other video.
      I'll be doing mine down. It allows you to use less ballast and still get a great wave

    Where is the follow up video? I looked for it but haven’t been able to find it

    • @GearsAndTech
      @GearsAndTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Our season is really short, so the follow up hasnt happened yet. Too many projects, too little time.
      Ill make a note for a follow up though because I do need to close the gap up on this concept

    • @GearsAndTech
      @GearsAndTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The system works
      However you will need to tinker with it to get it right
      If you don't like tinkering I wpidl suggest you buy the infinity wave system and just install that

    Can this handle a 32 foot boat making 70 mph?

  • @travispower2683
    @travispower2683 ปีที่แล้ว

    Disagree with the notion that a tab system is “better”. I had a nautique for several years and have surfed behind and driven malibus, centurion, supras and a few others with tabs systems. Would still pick the NSS over the tab systems for how it effects the driver and the wave. Yes you could make an argument that the centurion system saves fuel compared to a Malibu. But the NSS system was extremely frugal on fuel. I could go almost all day surfing and not even get to 1/4 tank.

    • @GearsAndTech
      @GearsAndTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Your nss actually goes out and down. So it kind of simulates the effect of the centurion tabs. But also has a bit of the Malibu system.
      Nss just isn't as adjustable as the others. Can't get to the full extreme like the centurion guys can. So you have to offset with more ballast on surf side, or lead

    • @travispower2683
      @travispower2683 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn’t really go down like a tab system. The majority if it’s effect is from the side. The result is you do not have to offset one side with people. Adjusting the wave is a silly marketing idea. Nobody cares about that really. I have about 600 hours driving boats and surfing. Would pick the nautique over any other system still. I owned a centurion for several years and have surfed behind them.

      Needed further modification to the boat to skew more in the water

  • @jamesbond-zx6lm

    It’s not going to work the way you hope unfortunately. There’s a lot of info on this out there, I would have done a lot more research before wasting time and money mounting those up. Wrong actuators and definitely wrong tabs. There’s a reason why the aftermarket surf systems are 2k-5k usd. I would not suggestion anyone mounting this kit to their boat without doing research on this.

      Oh my friend, you underestimate my skills and abilities!
      Contrary to what you think, I have spent years researching this. Watching others builds and coming up with my own ideas
      The plate install is only the first step. I am prepared to make modifications if needed. Those modifications are already planned and ready to go
