    If you're doing this as a DIY, please use 5200 rather than silicone on the screws to keep it watertight. Good video though!

    You should Lengthen the tab move the mount out further and lower the upper mounting point closer to the hinge that will give you up angle as well as down angle.

    Just got a Lenco setup. Hope it helps make a wake lol

      Only thing I noticed is the plate is too small. If you can make it longer then you will be good

    Hey I love your content! I’m planning a DIY surf tab setup on my boat. Quick dumb question before I start experimenting-does the tab deploy on the surf side of the wake? Or is it like a wedge where you use it on the non-surf side?

    • @GearsAndTech
      @GearsAndTech  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Non surf side
      If you're building your own, the tab needs to be much bigger than what I had. 12x12 was too small. Needs to be more like 16 to 18 inches long

    Your going about the actuator mounting and throw totally wrong. Check out evolution surf tabs and see how they mount the actuators for the up travel and down travel. The way you have done it limits the travel you can achieve from the actuator because of the length. Just another note. On the majority of Malibus from 01 onwards you actually need about 18 degrees of up lift from the tab to keep it out of the water while at surf speeds. Other then that I love your videos and the time you spend trying to help others by doing a lot of the RND for them.

    Wow that is great price. I would probably modify the tabs a bit though by adding some extra crap on them similar to GSA tabs.

    • @GearsAndTech
      @GearsAndTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I have an idea for a plate design that will make a huge wave. The new tab will bolt onto the tab that's here now.
      New video will be out in the spring. Testing to begin around mid June since that's the soonest we get in the water here

    Have you thought about getting a bigger plate? It looks like that one stick out 9 inches from the boat and is 12 inches wide. It looks like they also have a 12 x 12 and 9 x14, would be interesting to see you test a bigger plate size

    • @jordantown5822

      Also, can you do an updated video with the new mounting points on the back of the boat?

    • @GearsAndTech
      @GearsAndTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes. I'll be doing an updated video with more details of the final mounting and a few different plate sizes
      My ultimate plan was to go to a centurion dealer and trace the plate shape on cardboard and cut it out on metal and bolt it to the plate thats already on my boat.

    Using 2 suck gates versus installing trim tabs on an older v drive. What produces a bigger, longer and better wave? Oh and Hello from Alberta!

    • @GearsAndTech
      @GearsAndTech  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Without some time spent on tuning the trim tabs, the 2 suck gates are easier.

    • @patjohnson3528
      @patjohnson3528 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GearsAndTech Would you say between the 2 the waves produced are comparable? Why is there not an aftermarket suck gate that mounts where a trim tab would go?

  • @Chasingtons

    Why didn’t you mount the actuator lower and move the mount on the tab? I built an entire kit with your exact kit but I built different tabs that are the exact same as the Infiniti tabs just haven’t installed them because it no time

    • @GearsAndTech

    You seem to like the surf mode with a lot of ballast nowadays... What happened? Did your opinion change on systems that go down vs systems that go out? And if so, why?

    • @GearsAndTech
      @GearsAndTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Turns out the most important thing is to have some yaw to the boat.
      Probbaly worth making a new video to explain
      Surf mode makes an old boat yaw
      New boats have found other ways to make the yaw. It's probbaly the biggest advancement since the surf gate itself!
      Im working on a custom plate for the back that adds the yaw needed.
      From best to least
      Yaw surf system
      Down deploying surf system
      Extreme List the boat hard to surf side
      Side deploy surf system
      No surf system

    • @Drunken_Hamster
      @Drunken_Hamster ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GearsAndTech What I really want to see is how the combination of Yaw (surf mode style) and the 3 back plates do, along with a little lean and, of course, heavy ballast. Like, on a down-deploy, what exactly is the middle plate for? How does engaging the surf side plate in addition to the NON surf side plate (that initiates the wave) affect the wave? And how does all of that combine with a yaw system like Surf Mode to make the end-all of surf waves? Does a down plate itself create yaw or what? What about a down AND a side deploy combined? Is the yaw all that matters with the side/suck gates, or does their actual deflection/delay of the flow do anything?
      So many questions...

    • @GearsAndTech

      Actually you want longer tabs. At least 16 to 18 inches long
      Then mount the actuator low on the boat and farther out on the plate
