great video matey , nice to see those "bobysnatchers " on the move they do soung great with those 66 engines inside them shame 009 is still in primer there a bit long winded putting a livery on it chhers mate many thanks for braving the cold weather take care a t b syd👍
That may have been quiet for you Luke, but you had more variety and activity in those couple of weeks than we get all year these days!! 😀 I think GBRf should leave 009 in primer, just give it a few coats of clearcoat - it's a great colour! Hearing a '56' make such a strange noise takes some getting used to though....!! Keith
Great video. I enjoyed the footage of 69 009. The Marsden stuff was great. I could get used to that shade of green, although I know that's not going to happen. :)
Cheers mate, it’s back again next week so I’ll hopefully get over there to get some more footage. I had to make sure I saw it in that primer before it gets painted proper, looks great.
Another great video Luke, looking forward to the next already. Went round the chipboard plant at Chirk, back in 1989. That place has some appetite for logs. If I remember correctly they had 100 artics a day taking wood in.
Cracking photos and video you loved 24hrs Eastleigh. If you still doing Carlisle overnight i usually go and ask supervisor on station if can stay on station. They shut about 1amish.hope it helps you.
I was at Chester on the Sunday for the triple header logs which became a single header logs ! 56105 coped very well with load 20 tho 💪🏻 Just a note that the DRS 66 never ended up going to rescue the logs they eventually managed to move the train using 56049 very slowly to Blackburn where they stabled overnight to await 56105
Cracking as always! I managed to catch 69010 at Doncaster back in October which was awesome. Did 6 hours at Taunton yesterday and saw my first 59 (59101 Village of Whatley)
Slim pickings indeed Luke. Got some Transpennine tickets, best I could get was, Batley to Man Picc. Been loads of times, never spotted there, so I will give it a whirl.
56098 seems to be getting about lately! I first saw it last year at Edge Hill, still do, since then, it's popped up all over the place on numerous videos. Also, I saw 69007 at Edge Hill a couple of days ago at the GB Railfreight depot. Keep your eyes peeled for that. 👀👍🏻
It’s definitely very quiet. Someone on TH-cam said on another video there was 5 class 37s and a class 70 passing Diggle , nothing came , on December 21st 2023 , the camera is on all day , absolute nothing came, over trans pennine . I had a look from 9 in the morning to 11 in the morning, only trans pennine passed by . There was no 37s or a class 70. People have told me in steam days there was lots of trains hustling and bustling. Shunting . In the 1940s 1950s 1960s
They were in the last Diggle diaries episode but if you go to the stream from December 21st and fast forward to 14:16 you’ll see them. Same day at 11:59 the northern belle goes through. Before 3pm is another 37 dragging a unit.
Another great video showing some of the best locos on BR along with the informative text at each shot. A question for you Luke.... Is Standedge Tunnel the longest one on the UK rail network ?
Thanks a lot Roger, glad you enjoyed it. Standedge tunnel was the longest when built but don’t think it is anymore, not including the Tube/Crossrail or the channel tunnel, I think the Severn tunnel is the longest today. Could be wrong on that though. Edit: the canal tunnel is the longest, highest and deepest canal tunnel in the country though!
Thanks Luke, After a few minutes checking the Severn Tunnel is longer at 4.35 miles to the Standedge Tunnel at 3.22 miles. Also thanks for the canal tunnel information, having taken my narrowboat through it a few years ago I can certainly confirm it's very long, taking over 3 hours to get through ! @@DiggleJunction
Nice one Luke, what livery will 69009 eventually get? Its primer is showing its age already. Still getting used to the 66 sound in 56 body, but a great combination as it accelerates away
I’m thinking it will be for engineering trains for the route upgrade. I’d like to say the drax biomass trains but don’t think they have the right gearing for the gradients and weight.
I’m thinking unless they’re purely just route learning for new drivers on the drax they could start appearing on TRU engineering trains if we’re lucky.
speed whiskas on a freight loco; really ? also seeing as peterborough power signal box is no more maybe they should rename that 66 to something that does exist.
Yeah strange one, not sure on the thinking behind that! Wonder what they should rename it too, although I suppose it at least serves as a reminder of the old box.

@@DiggleJunction Seem to remember the 57's first being called bodysnatchers!

I could get on board with that it does look very striking, I like it too 👍🏻 still find it strange hearing a grid make the ying ying ying from a 66.

Thanks a lot mate, bloody hell I thought one of those log trains would last a week but at that rate they’ll have chewed through em in a few hours!
Cracking photos and video you loved 24hrs Eastleigh. If you still doing Carlisle overnight i usually go and ask supervisor on station if can stay on station. They shut about 1amish.hope it helps you.
Thanks again Mark, if I can make it through to 1am that won’t be too bad 👍🏻

Ah thanks for that info mate, what a farce that must have been!
great video Luke the 68s sounded fab and i remember when the 56s were on mgrs in the 80s they still sound fab though
Thanks Geoffrey, was worried this one would be a bit boring to be honest. Glad we’ve still got a few of them on the mainline to hear that scream.
@@DiggleJunction they are never boring Luke

Thanks mate, I love a class 59 and 101 is a great one. What did you think of the new bright Green livery?
Yeh it’s a really nice simple livery
Happy new year luke, thanks for another great video 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks very much mate, all the best to you and yours for the New Year.
Why can't I stop watching these videos?? :)
Haha not sure mate, I can’t stop making em either! Really appreciate it though, cheers 👍🏻
@DiggleJunction Keep up the good work bud ;)
Slim pickings indeed Luke. Got some Transpennine tickets, best I could get was, Batley to Man Picc. Been loads of times, never spotted there, so I will give it a whirl.
Might as well for a couple of quid mate, saved yourself a bit of money. Hopefully get the Welsh 67 sets and a Freightliner or two from Trafford Park.

To say it had its farewell last year it’s keeping itself very busy. I’ll have a look for 007, hopefully it’s staying around this area.

Another brilliant one Luke 😊
Thanks as always Wendy 👍🏻
As usual Luke, All Good.
Thanks a lot mate 👍🏻
'Nuther nice one Luke, thanks a lot for doing it.
Cheers Bill, I was worried this one would be a bit boring but think those sunny shots of the unpainted 69 rescued it.
Excellent video as always! 👍
Thanks a million mate 👍🏻
Great content as ever thx Luke .!!👏👏

@@rogercook6360 bet that was one hell of an experience mate. I’ve seen videos and it looks amazing under there.
Thanks for the video. What location is it between 6:07 and 6:55 ? Is it Stalybridge?
Thanks mate, that’s the log train at Wigan North Western I mentioned at the start 👍🏻
Nice one mate still can’t get over how cold I was waiting for the 69 to set off
Least I can watch this on a lovely MK4
Couldn’t feel my toes for about 2 hours afterwards lol. Hope you enjoyed your trip mate (on LNER or TFW).
@@DiggleJunction TFW went to see the 5 car test run
Great video as usual Luke. Cheers for Tpe tip. Got Preston return Edinburgh for me and Rose £4!! Bargain
Nice one mate, me and the missus are doing the same for a weekend up there.
Nice video Luke .Are the Chirk logs a regular as usually see them on Carlisle videos .cant wait for your next 24 hr show
They are very regular mate yeah, in that case maybe we’ll see them on the next 24 hour vid, hint hint 😉
A '69' jamboree...excellent

Thanks a lot mate, I’d say it will probably follow suit of the last few and be standard GBRF but hopefully they go for something special 👍🏻
Nice. Did you pinch the specs from the mrs too 😅
“Shared” glasses haha.
Lots of unusual moves going on there pet .. I feel like I have seen this location before.. is this being electrified (at some point) ?
The plan is to eventually electrify it mate but think it’s a good few years off yet.

It’s going to be taken down sadly, I’ve heard from the signaller it at least has until 2025 though so at least it’s not too imminent.
