I haven't taken much interest in the railways for a long time but I must say how pleasant it is to see these quite old locomotives still earning their keep, and in such lovely condition too!- it makes such a difference to see them gleaming
Now you're talking. You're spoiling us - a real crowd pleaser! Who doesn't like watching / listening to growling tractors? The chap in the hi-viz jacket at (I think) Shrewsbury station had a ringside seat. They used to be everywhere when I was a boy growing up in South Wales. The HNRC-livered example looked good hauling the logs. I'm going to try to replicate the 37-20-20-37 consist on my layout this weekend. Awesome.
A good video as always of tractors clagging and as these locomotives are one of the best 1960s british built loco's ever built and they're one of the biggest surviving diesel classes of any BR loco's ever built to date as i think 109 still exist out of 307 that aint bad!!! 😊
Any idea if you can get to know where these types of locos are going to be ahead of time? I live not far from Shrewsbury and would have headed down there to check them out if I'd have known.
Id love to see a hybrid train of the class 37 growler crossed with a class 55 deltic!! Maybe a deltic window on the 37 and mix of the slow speed almost dragon breathing sound of the 37 and the high speed deltic drone!!
The train at 3.29, couldn’t help noticing it’s freight, looks like a small forest has been felled somewhere. Again at 13.18, different train with the same freight or more trees?
Cracking video well done great camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on TH-cam bye for now Philip

Agreed - Let’s hope they continue for a good while yet 🙏👍
Love the 37s. That timber train shows just how powerful they are. We only usually see them pulling a few passenger cars.

class 37’s are nearly as old as me, great to see them earning their keep still.
this is excellent ! the uk has so many interesting trains, love to see they all are still used 😁
Magnificent, mighty, powerful.... I wonder, that more then 60 years and still in good condition....
I never fail to be impressed by how quickly a 37 can lay down the acceleration. Even with a full load behind them.
Opening shot is a belter!!!
I love the sound of a Class 50, but for sheer power and grunt you really can't beat a '37' at full thrash
Oh yes indeed. Used to be a type 4 fan, but these days it's all of them.
v high quality footage
Great footage . Nicely shot. Hopefully the timber workings will last , shame they didn't in Scotland.
I love the 37s
Absolutely video. Many thanks
Lovely collection
Nice shots of Shrewsbury.

we always knew them as "Growlers" or "Baby Deltics" nice compilation🙂🙂
Class 37 ‘TRACTORS’ or ‘GROWLERS’ Class 23 ‘BABY DELTIC’s’
Excellent Catches 👍

Well that was strange, brilliant, thankyou.
I’ll take the e brilliant bit rather than the strange 🤣🤣👍
fantastic
One of those drivers is a Yorkshire man I reckon
💯👍
After commuting every day on those 507's and 508's... it's sad to see them being dragged off for scrap :(
Agreed - Times never stays still for anyone or anything 🥲
@@trainsplanes Except for the 37's it seems 😂

I winced at 5:05, that was very close to being bent metal
Are those Merseyrail units headed for scrapping??
If so whereabouts?
that's right to newport
Yes - They go to Sims in Newport to be cut up.
And the 508s was Never seen again
Shame but times move on..
@@trainsplanes times do move on shame no 508s preserved but the new units are pretty nice needed upgrade
second one is shrewsbury
There’s a few shots from Shrewsbury in that compilation 👌👍
5:30 Sligthy overpovered...
they dont growl they thwack
Just a pity some of them have to suffer the indignity of wearing some awful liveries obviously designed by the owners kids
Yeah but worse still they're designed by the British
