    Super nice Vulcan 900, Greasy! I'm a DR650 owner too and just picked my Vulcan Classic up 4 months ago (I dig your mirrors). You are right...best to short shift when you see the five-oh 'til you get some baffles. I found mine with stockers and they are just right! I'm riding mine whenever the snow melts. Good all-day bike!

      The Vulcano was a great bike. I ended up buying a new(ish) Harley. If u haven't ridden one, I urge u to. They are a totally different animal. All these bikes are fun as hell and if I was rich I would keep all of em.

      The Vulcan is an excellent motorcycle. Reasonably inexpensive. Extremely reliable - although mine wasn't - but it was also nearly 20 years old. A fun bike. I wish it had 6 gears. Kawasaki needs to make a larger sized simple Vulcan to fill the gap where HD has the softail - that's why I upgraded to the HD. More power and 6 gears. That said, I put thousands and thousands of kms on my Vulcan and loved it. Great bikes. Enjoy!

    I bought a used 900 with aftermarket pipes. After several years of suffering from sonic abuse I was finally able to find someone with some stock pipes he wants to get rid of. Loud pipes may be ok on a cruiser, but my 900 is the LT model. After a few hours on the road the loud pipes get truly annoying! Not to mention the guilt that comes when I fire the bike up at a campground at 5 am trying to get an early start.

      I totally agree. I found with the Harley my Screaming Eagle exhaust is louder then stock but not obnoxious. It also makes the ride a lot more enjoyable.

    My first bike was a '13 Vulcan 900 Classic. It was a very solid bike. Ran great, easy to handle and a lot of fun. No reliability issues either. I would be glad to own one again. In addition to my Harley, of course.

    I'm actually picking one of these up in the LT package on Friday. It's a 2023 though. In my opinion, it's the perfect size and weight to power for a midsize cruiser. It will however, be the smallest displacement I've had since high school.

    I just bought one. A family friend bought it a couple years back, and he barley drove it (he’s an old guy). It’s been garage kept and very well maintained so I ended up buying it off him since he can’t ride as much. It’s going to be my first bike I’m pretty stoked

    I bought the 2022 and I’m not very fond of this bike. It vibrates like crazy on the freeway. I don’t feel comfortable taking it up past 65 mph. If it had a 6th gear it would be a better ride I think. It’s not very good in tight areas. I’m going to sell this one and get something a bit more nimble for me. Great video!

      @@greasycanadianbiker Barrons and Scootworks both make a pully conversion kit that will lower your RPMs by 15%.
      I did that and a fairing iso grips and a mustang seat and its a comfortable bike to ride all day long.
      I'm a tightwad and would have never thrown $600 bucks at a fuckin seat, but holy shit that thing is comfortable.
      I also threw some crash bars up front and put some highway pegs on it,
      I have never really put any money into upgrades on any other bikes that I have owned before. (apx. 25+ including MX)
      The comfort and reliability of this bike made me feel like there wasn't another bike that I wanted, so I shelled out a few bucks
      on her.
      Get on the Vulcan forum, and those guys have all the info that you will ever need, and some great ideas too.
      I only did the front pully because it was more than half an cheap, and I have been fine with that for about 2 years now.
      I also threw some Viking bags on it which are ok, probably the best you can buy from a couple hundred bucks, but I am looking into something nicer in the future, like a harley hard bag conversion of some sort.
      2009 Classic Indigo Blue Cobra Drag Pipes. 62k miles. 15K when I bought it. I have had NOTHING fail on this bike.
      Just batteries, brakes, tires and fluids is all that has been required to keep her on the road.
      My buddies are all mostly harley riders, two of them with sportsters, one is a 1200 conversion, if I start pulling first at any speed, he cannot reel me in, unless were doing 90, and the same thing goes the other way. Dead stop drag he gets me for sure, but
      the 883 won't.
      This 900 could be a 1600 and I wouldn't ride any different with these dudes, other than show off it's power two or three times when I first got it.
      The other guys have full dressers, and we CRUISE. The bike is a cruiser.
      In town, bar hopping, I got em all beat; me and the sportsters are just much nimbler and lighter to get around in shitty parking lots and easy to park without having to think about getting a land yacht out easily.
      From Kansas...

    Today is 7/31/24, just watched. By now you have probably learned why the pipes are so loud. People take some of the baffles out of the exhaust, which is probably what the previous owner(s) may have done. Kawai 900s are in my opinion unbeatable cruisers....

    How does this motorcycle move forward with acceleration? Does it have enough power? Good video

    • @greasycanadianbiker
      @greasycanadianbiker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a great bike. I've had this thing going...... well..... I won't say exactly but I'll put it like this, there is no issue going 120km/hr or 65m/hr. The 5 gears I find are the biggest bummer, as in, if your going to do a lot of longer distances at highway speeds the bike rpm is fairly high, so it gets a little buzzy. But it's perfectly stable at those speeds. Very comfortable and really it is an excellent motorcycle overall. I highly recommend the Vulcan 900 as a great entry into cruisers. I love mine. I bought a bigger bike, but that's just because I fell in love with more horsepower. The Vulcan will do anything u ask of it. Great machine!

    • @greasycanadianbiker
      @greasycanadianbiker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will add..... Low end torque is okay. It's no powerhouse. But if a powerhouse is what your looking for the V900 is not it. But to start out with, or if your not interested in unbelievable torque but need some power, it's in there. The bike will do it.

  • @PaulsMotoZen
    @PaulsMotoZen ปีที่แล้ว +3

    If you take the windshield off, the sound of the bike will not seem as loud. The popping from the mic is from the sound being to loud. You could either get a "deadcat" for the mic, or find another location to try. The bike does sound good, but as you mentioned, you will probably get some baffles for it.
    Take care, ride safe.

    You shift your gears way to fast. Let your bike rev high RPMs 5000-6000, it's designed that way. You don't shift in 3000 rmps it's not peak of torque.

    • @iainsmith2434
      @iainsmith2434 ปีที่แล้ว

      Think you will find the V-twin redlines at 5400 rpm or close to it. Best torque is around 3500-3700 rpm and also he wasn’t joking about how loud the exhaust would have been. I have both a VN900 Classic and a 650 Versys, totally different torque curves, the 650 doesn’t even begin to pull properly until 5000+ rpm. I also had an exhaust which had baffles removed before I bought it. Had to rebaffle after short time the ringing in my ears even with earplugs and getting notice by old PC plod was a hassle.
