I made your peanut brittle and I must say it taste like what my Mom used to make when I was a kid. I’ve tried several different recipes over the years but this one is perfect. I do think the salted peanuts makes a huge difference in the taste. Thanks for sharing!!!
Miss Catherine I am an older lady but my grandma taught me to make the liquid centers you freeze the cherries and after they are made they thaw and turn the dough to liquid. You might want to try it sometime hers were wonderful. Love your videos.❤️
Yes that’s how I was taught as a little girl with my mom. She couldn’t read very good so a recipe to her was just a guide line that she used. I lot of the time a cup might be her hand cured & that was how much you use.
Try draining the cherries in a colander. It's faster than pulling them out of the jar with a fork, and if you need the juice for something later, you can collect it in a bowl under the colander for return to the jar. Also, if you have a mini-muffin tin, you can put your wrappers in the cups, then put the chocolate covered cherries in them, and the tin holds them steady so they don't fall over. :)
Thanks for the Cherrie Candy Recipe... my grandmother's favorite. The only candy that was safe at Christmas time 'cause the kids didn't like them... now that I'm older I can see why they were her favorite 😅
My pappy used to make candy called bird's nest @ Christmas, when he passed I started making it. It's chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and creamy peanut butter melted together then you mix in crunchy Chinese noodles in and scoop teaspoon out on tray to cool and set.
First time viewer. Wow!. Love your show. Have subscribed. I've been cooking for 70 years and it takes a lot to impress me in the kitchen. Congratulations. Your skill and your personality make your show a must see. Thank you. ❤
I love joining you in your kitchen. You are so pleasant to watch and listen to. Reminds me of my sister that I lost a few years ago at the early age of 59. She was a great cook, and made Christmas goodies for all the family to share one year. Thank you for bringing that warm, homey, family feeling to your viewers. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
I make the bugle treats, but we put peanut butter inside the bugles, then dip into semi sweet chocolate and let them cool. I want to put an M&M in them now!
Nice to see a husband working with his wife to do the work and be in front of the camera. Stirring is hard work. I not only learned but also enjoyed your husband's input! It's much easier when you have help.
Catherine, for the cherries without stems I use Xmas colored tooth picks. Sometimes I remove all the stems and just use the tooth picks for all of them. It just makes them look a little more festive! If you can't find the holiday ones you can dye them with food coloring! You can make them any color to suit the holiday! You can top the brittle with chocolate chips. Just put the chips on top of the brittle while it still hot. Scatter and spread!
Catherine I totally love your recipes and enjoy watching you prepare them. Kudos to your "assistant" who wears a few hats for you; your helper, your taster, and, let's not leave out, your camerman.👍 May God greatly bless you both and your family. 🥰
I make the brittle with raw peanuts or pecans. Never used a thermometer, just went by the color as it cooked in the cast iron skillet, and spread it really thin. I live in the south in peanut country. I love brittle!! Didn't know you could use roasted peanuts from a jar! Good idea!
My mom Christmas and peanut brittle always go together. I miss her so much. I'm definitely gonna make the brittle for my mama. Thank you so much. Have a blessed Merry Christmas
You are the best teacher. Your recipes are so simple. I’m 84 and haven’t made candy since my husband had to go into the Nursing Home. He loved peanut brittle!!! I had bought it for him from the Dollar General, because I thought it was too hard to make any more, but your recipe is wonderful. I lost him June 29, 2022. I sure wish I had this recipe. I would certainly have made it for him. Love all your recipes. Thank you-Pauline from Kansas
My son informed me last Christmas that he now hates pretzels. 🤣 And I thought well there goes all my different chex mix recipes out of the window. 🤣Your bugle recipe made me realize I could sub bugles in for pretzels for a salty component in the different chex mix recipes I have. BLESS YOU! BTW, the bugle treats are super cute; I have to try those this year!
Where have you been my whole life? Going to the store for cherries soon as I get finished watching this. Nice of your husband to get involved. Lovely couple. Thank you and God Bless.
A couple of years ago for black Friday I had gotten a small crock pot for only $3.00. I think it's only about a quart size. That would be good to use for melted chocolate for dipping candy's.
Oh my Goodness ❤️. I can't believe these scrumptious candy recipes 😋. I'm definitely making them for Christmas 🎄. My Husband loves Chocolate covered cherries 🍒. You are Awesome 💖. Thank you for sharing 👏. Stay safe healthy and happy ✝️ 🇺🇸
I love you guys! I have a cookie party comming up, 10 ladies comming and we each make 12 cookies ( 10 different kinds ) we try to get as many no bake cookies we can.. I went to the store and got everything I need to make all your cookies! We each will have 10 dozen! A great night ad lots of fun! Thank you so so much❤️ I have no doubt we are all going to love our new ones , PS we are always trying to add in something our grandmothers made❤️
We do our cherries with the stem on then add a hershey kiss to the front and attach to chocolate covered cherry...add two almond slices for ears and the cherry stem is the tail so adorable and delicious.
I love Bugles! Sometimes I pipe peanut butter into them and then dip them in white chocolate. The piping of the peanut butter takes a lot of patience but once I get them done it's so worth it.
All these amazing goodies! What a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays or any special occasion! Would have to make a double batch of the cherries just for me!👍😋🎄🎅🏻
My Grandmother always made peanut brittle and fudge for us when we were kids at Christmas time. I always made them for my kids and now my grandkids too. Thanks for sharing your recipes Catherine. 🙂❤️
An idea for you….if you don’t have a stem on your cherries, use a tooth pick (even could be colored type) and insert only the thin tip until it holds the cherry safely, so you can dip with confidence like you do with the stems. This is also very helpful when all you can get are the non-stem type of cherries 😉. Thank you for sharing great recipes.
Oh the lucky people that get to come visit you guys! 😄 All of these look wonderful, but the classic peanut brittle would probably be my favorite. Thank you for so many great ideas!👍😊
My precious mother used to make scrumptious peanut brittle and pecan brittle for the holidays. She passed away in 2018 at age 91 years old.😥 But happy memories! I've made brittle from her recipe since and each time my husband and I take a bite of it, we have warm memories of the past. When I was child, I remember all the yummy homemade candies, fruit cake, etc. made from my mother and grandmother around Christmas! It was so fun when relatives from out of town, came to join us in all the fun, etc.!
I've been making peanut brittle for about 40 years and this is the first year I have ever heard of using anything but raw peanuts for it, and spreading it as well (I saw one other person use these two things/methods). I was always taught to never touch it once it hits the pan. I have to admit that I found a microwave recipe many years ago for it and I have never once had it not turn out! I have to say I was so surprised, as were both of my Grandmas! Another favorite holiday recipe I got from my Grandma is a popcorn cake, using popcorn, peanuts, M & M's, caramels, marshmallows & butter. It is beautiful and tasty!
@@kimstrow5552 Sure! 1 c. sugar, 1/2 c. light corn syrup, 1 c. raw peanuts, 1 tsp butter, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 tsp baking soda Directions: Combine sugar & syrup in mix & pour bowl. Microwave on high for 4 minutes. Stir in peanuts. Microwave on high for 3-5 minutes. Add butter & vanilla, blending well. Microwave on high for 1-2 minutes longer. Peanuts will be lightly browned and syrup very hot. Add baking soda & stir until light & foamy. Pour mixture onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Let cool about an hour or until cool. Break into small pieces and store into airtight container (I use a Ziplock). Makes about 1 pound. Using a glass pan or bowl with a good handle to hold with hot pad is best. The microwave times will change with wattage of your microwave so you may need to try tweaking until finding the best for yours. I like the step after peanuts to be darker for a crunchier texture rather than very chewy. Try a couple of trial runs to find your perfect taste. You won't be disappointed!
Great idea, I add butter when I put peanuts in, I use the largest measuring cup made ( its huge) Yes 8-9 min. Total. I use reg corn syrup also mmm good - easy . Cookie sheet large non stick, use spoon and fork to spread thinly quickly. Nice light bite, breaks easy.

What an amazing variety of Christmas candy Catherine! 😍 This was so much fun to watch! 😘 Last year I made the Bugle Bells and it was so much fun and tasted great too! But I had to laugh when you were talking about eating them as you were making them. I had made a few and decided to taste one and I loved the sweet and salty component. It tasted so good that I would dip the Bugle in the almond bark and put it in my mouth. We just can't wait to try them! I'm so grateful for all the wonderful recipes you provide! Your recipes are so easy, fast and delicious! All I do for my chocolate covered cherries is cherry juice with a bit of powdered sugar to thicken it and cherries and roll a ball with the cherry in the center and then dip them in chocolate!
I have made some of these and they were delicious, I started my Christmas 🎄 baking already and made 2 of these already .....Catherine thank you for sharing these wonderful recipes, have a wonderful Sunday ❤️
Lots of great ideas! Your fudge variation using Mini marshmallows instead of the marshmallow creme fascinates me as that is the one thing that is hard to get out of the jar when you're working fast. I may have to make a note of that for next year. I already have the creme for this year's batch. I also need to progress to using parchment paper more for my candies. I love Thomas helping you and find it very touching.
oh what a joy to see a husband and wife sharing they enjoy together. LOVE,peace and happiness what a wonderful world if everyone has this. thank you for sharing your recipes . I can find them all over youtube. BUT the love of being together not often. This is what i enjoyed about your video. there no doubt you celebrate Christmas for what it truly is. our Lords Birthday. love to you both. my first time to visit.
Wow... These are so professionally done and look absolutely delicious You work with such patience and care. It makes it so easy to folkow along with you. I amcamazed with your takent! Thankvyou for bringing these goodies to us. Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas to you and your family! Love from Debbie and Dexter-Dog 🐶🐾 my sweet tiny rescued Chihuahua companion living a quiet crafty life in southern California.
I make a different “Bark” that you might want to try. I just put stick pretzels, dried cranberries and pecans with the almond bark. I do mix it all together then put on parchment paper. I use 1-2 cups of pretzels, and 1 cup each of the cranberries and pecans. Use 6 cubes of almond bark. It’s not quite as sweet as yours, but adults like it. I have substituted dried cherries for the cranberries at times also. Simple and delicious.😊
We made the bugle treats and had so much fun making these. Simple and easy and kids friendly to make. Thanks for sharing this with everyone, and have a happy Holiday!
Hello Catherine!! It is nice to have extra hands to help !! You have a good helper ! Thank you for sharing the recipes. 💕🍒 He reminds me of my late husband. I miss him so much this time of year. Enjoy the Holidays with yours !!
These are all so,so delicious and wonderful 👍👍 thank you so much Catherine for sharing your holiday treats with us .much love and good wishes to you all 🤗💛
Thank you for sharing Catherine have a blessed day stay safe and healthy. Love all the recipes especially the chocolate covered cherries and the buckeye pretzel yummy. 🙏❤🙏❤🙏
Love seeing you and Thomas in the kitchen!! Great candy ideas. I will be making them!! Thank you❤️🙏. I also make peanut clusters. So simple and taste wonderful. Just chocolate chips, almond bark and roasted peanuts!!
Thank you for sharing this recipe! My husband loves chocolate covered cherries so maybe I’ll try these for a gift? The bugle treats were fun and I think I’d like to try the buckeye pretzels. Fun and festive treats for giving neighbors. Thanks for sharing your recipes and ideas.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Chocolate covered cherries were always my husband's favorite candy. Although I've seen several ways of doing them your way looks the best for my lack of experience. Now my grandson and I can add them to our Christmas party ideas. Ty again. Merry Christmas!!
Hello Catherine. Have you ever heard of Elf Hats or Christmas kisses? They are similar to the Hershey chocolate kisses but made with colored white chocolate. The red can be made either with crushed cinnamon hard candies or red sour cherry candies. The green can either be crushed wintergreen candies or lime or green apple candies. Mix the food coloring with the white chocolate once melted add crushed candies . I like to dollop the candy on top of a mini marshmallow. There you have it. If you have used fruity candy an optional center would be the candied fruit that is used to make fruitcake.
First time viewer of your channel. I have a suggestion that I learned from Louise at The Salted Pepper; she puts invertase into the sugar cherry coating when mixing as this enzyme is needed to turn sugar into liquid. This process does take about two weeks. Before knowing this I made them like you did and waited but they never truly turned into liquid. I like how you put them directly into the serving cups after dipping. I will be doing this next time. Thanks for the tip!
The peanut brittle is my favorite too! My daddy used to make it and I could eat it for breakfast! I love it still to this day. I make it and it is a team effort to be able to move quickly when the stages are just right. I make mine in a large iron skillet. Good job ! Who wouldn’t want to get a container of it for Christmas!?
great vid and some wonderful holiday treat ideas..i only melt my choc in a bowl over a water bath but i use a medium size bowl over a small pot, so that if the water gets steamy it does get into my chocolate from the steam that comes out the sides of you pot and be careful that you don't get any water on the bottom of the pot, that may drip off into your chocolate if you are pouring it out onto a cookie sheet to make bark or something else. thx marie from canada
Those are really good and fun treats that anyone would enjoy making, like grandma and grand daughter etc. they were beautifully created by you and with a little help from your husband! 😊 Thank you and enjoy your Holidays.
Oh, the choices…..They all look so good. I’m gonna have to try the Peanut Brittle. I usually buy Choc covered Cherries for Mom + Son-in-law every year, but it would be fun to try your recipe. Happy Holidays to All! 😇
Hi Catherine, I would love for you to make Divinity with nuts! My Grandma passed away at 62 and she always made it for Christmas. My sweet mom never learned how to make it from Grandma, and now mom as passed away. It is such a special candy with treasured memories for me. I would love to learn how to make it. I have tried so many times and it never turned out. Merry Christmas!
I agree withe the double boiler. Ive had more success that way. Also a tip... Coconut oil can be used in place of Crisco if you don't have it.Btw, these pretzels look absolutely delicious! Thank you Catherine and Thomas. You two are a great team. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas 🎄🎅🏻
I like Catherine because she is genuine . She is easy to watch and to follow when she does the recipes.

I love the simplicity of your treats. I’m going to try them all. Starting tomorrow!
Glad you like them!
We were able to enjoy your husband as sous chef, but also met Bailey!. So sweet! What an adorable doggie!
Great recipes! Merry Christmas!
Parchment paper is the best thing since sliced bread!! Love that stuff!
I have made it both ways. Comes out great either way. Enjoy making and eating either way.
Peanut brittle is my favorite candy of all time! ❤😂❤
oh what a joy to see a husband and wife sharing
they enjoy together.

Thank you Catherine for all these cute candy treats that you made a loved one using the bugles I just saw it has a pop in your mouth❤️🎄❤️
I love your videos! Your husband when he said "there's my piece!" I laughed so loud I startled my 6 year old! 😂🥰
Thank you for sharing these!
LOL!
I’m excited to try some of these recipes! I love to make my aunts a treat box for Christmas.
Great video, thank for sharing 😊
Katherine, your Christmas bark looks so good. I am going to make this for my family this year.
Thank you for sharing. ❤
We made the bugle treats and had so much fun making these. Simple and easy and kids friendly to make. Thanks for sharing this with everyone, and have a happy Holiday!
Watching these makes me feel like I am learning from a grandma I never had. Thank you for your videos.

Enjoyed your wonderful recipes. Beautifully done
I've never heard of using dough with chocolate covered cherries but it sounds great!🥰
Catherine, you definitely hit my sweet tooth... How good these all really looked.. definitely making a couple of these.. YUMMMMM... 🤗👍🤗👍🤗🤗😁😁😁🌲🌲🌲🌲
You are absolutely amazing! I can’t believe you made all that candy after you made cookies! You didn’t sit down once! God bless you! 💕
I'll be making the bark and bugles :) Thanks for sharing with us :) Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
I'm going to make that peanut brittle!!! My mom made this every year for me. Thanks for the recipe.
🤍🤍🤍 Peanut brittle! I've made it using the microwave method but yours looks so much better! I'm going to give it a try! 🥰
Your Frozen apples are absolutely beautiful. This is! 💙💙💙
I’m motivated in a good way. People always love Christmas candy and cookies.😊
They all look delicious!! Have a Merry Christmas.❤❤❤😊
great vid and some wonderful holiday treat ideas..i only melt my choc in a bowl over a water bath but i use a medium size bowl over a small pot, so that if the water gets steamy it does get into my chocolate from the steam that comes out the sides of you pot and be careful that you don't get any water on the bottom of the pot, that may drip off into your chocolate if you are pouring it out onto a cookie sheet to make bark or something else. thx marie from canada
My SIL used to make them, she is gone now. They were awesome. She said they were a pain and putzy but they were well loved.
Those are really good and fun treats that anyone would enjoy making, like grandma and grand daughter etc. they were beautifully created by you and with a little help from your husband! 😊 Thank you and enjoy your Holidays.
The Bugle elf feet... I would hand them out as Santa hats. Thank you for sharing your ideas!!
Thank you Catherine these were always my dad's favorite at Christmas this ❤️
Oh, the choices…..They all look so good. I’m gonna have to try the Peanut Brittle. I usually buy Choc covered Cherries for Mom + Son-in-law every year, but it would be fun to try your recipe. Happy Holidays to All! 😇
Awww Love Mae Lee! Oh and all the recipes too! 😊
I'll see what I can do.
