      In my experience, my pea puffer didn't bother any of my kuhli loaches. If you're still worried, try to monitor him/her for a couple of days. I've had no problems introducing these 2 species together, especially with lots of plants and decor. :D

    I have just set up a 100 litre planted tank for pea puffers only! They are so cute, I have a group of 11, and when they are mature I will take some of the males out. They have live blood worms and snails at the moment, I have frozen Cyclops but if they don't like it I will have to do a big water change right away because the cyclops are so small. It is my intention to breed some live daphnia and try to get them to establish in the tank long term as enrichment hunting

    • @BeFishy
      @BeFishy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Glad you like it! In that case, I highly suggest keeping them in an only species tank. But other fish that may work with them are otocinclus, kuhli loaches, & freshwater bumblebee gobies. Pea puffers are very cheeky. They nip for absolutely no reason sometimes! I notice that tetras, corydoras and such don't do very well with them. I too have taken mine out of the tank and placed them in a different tank. Hope this helps a little! :D

    Will pea puffers eat tiny worms like detritus or planarian…? And would a 3 gallon cube be too small for a single fish?

    • @BeFishy
      @BeFishy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! No, they don't eat detritus or planaria. As for tank size, pea puffers are a shoaling species and should be kept in a minimum group of 6 with a minimum tank size of 16 gallons. We're working on updating our care guides. Sorry for the confusion! 😄

    • @BeFishy
      @BeFishy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! That's awesome. How do they look like? If they're very thin, they might have internal parasites. On the other hand, if they are well, besides bloodworms, you can feed them aphids, grindal worms, daphnia, blackworms, whiteworm or brine shrimps. Some do prefer different food than others though so that is something to take note of if your puffer is healthy. 😊

      Hi! Unfortunately, most puffers do not take much prepared food readily. Eating is a good sign though. As they're eating snails, I highly recommend setting up a snail tank for breeding. I personally have a ramshorn snail tank running. Start with at least 10 snails in a tank. Saves a lot of cost and very accessible. :)

      @@girishomjakhes6963 Hi! I set up mine by placing them in a small tank. Any container 5 and up gallons is a good start. Place an aerator or in my case, I use a filter. Fill up container with dechlorinated water and place snails in. A good number to start is 10 ramshorn snails. More is better. Do not feed them to your puffers yet until a colony has started. I suggest getting extras in the mean time they populate. And that's it! For feeding, you can feed them algae wafers, green vegetables, snello, and for calcium source, cuttlefish bone or cleaned baked egg shells.
