Awesome video! Speaking of watching antics, I was feeding my 6 pea puffers blood worms today, and as one worm spun in the water, my pea puffer did a barrel roll. I've seen a few really memorable things with my fish, but that is up there! I definitely love these little guys.

Hello Travis. This is my first time here. You showed up. My guess is that I searched the Dwarf PeaPuffer Puffer before. I got one to help me reduce the hitching-hiking Bladder Snails and the Ramshorn Snails that came with tank raised plants at the Pet Store.

I never had any peas, but I remember the males having a stripe on their belly. Adult males also have wrinkles behind the eyes.

no biggie a lot of people don't see it, They would likely be fine especially since the khulis would be buried in the substrate most of the time while they're not actively swimming about

Yeah I honestly think they'll be fine, especially if you keep those pea puffers fed well.

Did you treat them for parasites? Usually the number one cause of them going down hill next to just not giving them the right food.

Really want to try a species only tank with dwarf puffers and from my reading maybe some ottos. My six months or more worth of information cramming and planted tank setup has begun. (I like to take my time when planning something new to me 😄)

Thank you, check out my video on building double stack 55 gallon aquariums, I would design it very similarly to that but be able to fit two 40 gallons next to each other, and for the top shelf I would double up the 2x4s or use 4x4s for the shelf so it can handle the extra load, a single aquarium on a stand designed like that the pressure is on the four corners of the aquarium so the load is transferred directly into the legs, when you have multiple aquariums there is a load point in the very middle so you want to make sure that you can handle that load.

I totally get it, it's something new and different.
I was put off ..but I've had mine a while with my female guppies..and he is doing fine...even though he will not eat the flake food he gets excited at food time like the guppies...the tank has a ton of plants and he spends hours hunting...I change the tank about so he has new things to see..he really only likes snails..but I've seen him pick at things on rocks and in the sand...I love him..

Hey! Thanks for the video. I still have a few questions though-
1- Is it normal for some pea puffers to be lightly coloured? I have 3, and the bigger/more aggressive ones are much lighter than the small, passive one.
2- I bought my peas around 4/5 months ago, and they did fight a lot, but now they dont fight at all.But theyre all males, is that normal?
3- Is it normal for pea puffers to have very diverse patterns? The small dark one has the average wrinkles, and one big dark spot. The middle sized one has barely any colouring except 2 wrinkles and a dark stripe on his belly. The biggest one is also quite pale, lots of spots and wrinkles all over his ENTIRE body in different directions.
Ive just heard of 'imitator puffers' but I can find next to no information online about them, and im unsure if I have a mixed species.

1) yes they can alter thier colors slightly to help them blend in with their environment
2) yea that's normal, once they establish thier own territory the aggressive behavior lowers
3) it's possible, not all mine had the same patterns either, spots and stripes were different sizes between them, different ages can have effects on this also
@@TrafishAquatics Thankyou so much!! Ive owned puffers before and they all looked exactly the same, so I was a bit worried they were stressed or something. I also read that under no circumstances males should be kept together so I was a bit heartbroken thinking I was going to have to get rid of 2 of them, but its so good to know its okay for them be together. I think youre right also, they all have their favourite spot in their tanks that they sleep and go to. Thanks for the help, very appreciated :)

I got 2 yesterday. It maybe early but they are not eating yet. Bloodworms and bbs ive tried giving them. I'm going to get some snails out of one of my other tanks and try that today but I am starting to worry a lil. Help...lol
Fish can go weeks without eating I wouldn't worry, it may take a few days for them to become adjusted to their new environment before they eat

They would get picked on most likley, pea puffers are quite nippy
Nice tank but do they like any caves to hide in or do they not use them? Won’t they attack otocinclus, Corydoras and any other peaceful algae eater? I want to get them but not sure what algae eater they won’t hurt because I don’t want snails.

I’ve been setting up a pea puffer aquarium for a few weeks now. 😊 Quick question because this seems to be incredibly controversial, do they need a lid? I’d rather not use one because I think they’re ugly, but I’d definitely ignore that if the risk of them jumping is high.
It's not super common for them to jump but it could happen, I would personally use a lid

I was wondering the same thing and did some research, it's not common, but could happen. Another option if you don't like a lid, is to use floating plants and have plenty of hiding places.
Never had one jump. Keep the water level a bit lower....
Hi,
I am currently experiencing a massive Cyanobacteria outbreak in my 10g PP tank.
I set up a 20H to move them into before I battle the problem.
It is fully cycled and fully planted, but a lot of the plants are newly added.
How long should I quarantine the 20H before adding fish??
Note: lots of snails to keep the cycle going, and Cabomba added for possible breeding.
I read somewhere that there is a link between Cabomba and PP longevity. Is this a fact??
I personally haven't heard anything about the link between cabomba and PP, usually with the addition of any plant or fish to a tank you usually want to quarantine for a week or two to make sure that there's no issues, to battle the cyanobacteria outbreak you can use erythromycin to kill the cyanobacteria if you have that available to you.

I'll quarantine at 86°F, and battle the Cyanobacteria with a hefty water change, mechanical removal of as much slime, and try again with Chemiclean.
Do puffers tolerate peroxide treatment?
Whenever I do a peroxide treatment for algae I usually use 1 ml per gallon peroxide though others have said you can go up to 3 ml per gallon I haven't personally tested it and with pee puffers being a scaleless fish it may affect them more differently so I would stick to the 1 ml if it were me

Its hard to tell really depends on how big the sanails were, but if they are larger MTS them maybe 3, if theyre smaller about 10, but keep in mind there are 8 puffers in my tank

Its easier to just have a colony of nails established so you dont have to count and they can just eat when they want to

These fish have been together for about 2 years so it's likley they will become more outgoing
Trafish Aquatics ahh yeah that makes since , I current don’t have a heater in they’re tank , would you recommend me installing one ? The reason I don’t have one is because my room usually stays around 75 degrees
personally I would they prefer anywhere from 78 to 82 degrees which might be why they're not coming out as much because they're lethargic from the temperature

It's the males that get the stripe.
That fish kill and eat all my green rasboras and ambers tetras , they are carnivores 😡
