David, Thank you for this. I am sure people will realize how advanced Toyota Production System is. You don't become the most respected and largest manufacture without this dedication.
I toured a GM plant in Van Nuys, California (prior to closing) and the production line was mixed as well. They produced various X and F body cars from different GM divisions on the same line all mixed together similar to what David shows here. Though, I'm sure they were not using any of the quality controls as parts were sometimes hanging off cars as they came down the line. LOL
Thanks for sharing! I am a manufacturing engineer in an American factory and we have adopted a lot of the same lean methods as Toyotas production system
Great explanation and tour of a Toyota factory David! Please show us the 70 series factory when you get a chance! Look forward to that one having just recently received my new troop carrier and curious how it was built 😊
@@AutomotivePress Ah okay I understand. As far as you know, are there any other Toyota (or other auto maker) factory assembly lines that can be visited by the public around Japan?
@@AdamsAppleseed Unfortunately there are no factory tours available by any automakers in Japan that are open to public. However, there are a number of museums that are public.
The best cars in the world would be if Porsche were produced by Toyota factories in Japan! Thanks for the tour and demonstration of the power of the red button.😂
Great content! Hope you bought the line workers some sake to compensate for the overtime you caused them 😆 At the start there was a board in the hydrogen room that had a blank box labeled "Chinese tank". Any idea what that is about?
David.... Please, please convince Toyota to produce a 1 ton twin screw 5.7! Everyone at my local beer stop would appreciate the reliability of Toyota in an HD format.
It was very interesting seeing the Toyota Production System in action. Team member, team leader and group leader are different from what most people in the United States are familiar with. Team leaders are highly skilled team members. At many big 3 manufacturers only senior managers are allowed to stop the line (short of a life and death emergency). We've all seen the "conveyor belt" production line (not what was shown here). The worker walks along the production line with the car. He then has to "retrace" and walk back to the beginning. This is waste, non-useful work. It looks like Toyota has minimized this. Lots of interesting detail if you know where to look. Very good!
I was born and raised in Japan - I'm completely fluent in Japanese. You are only watching the English portion of the video as all of my viewers are English speaking. Original unedited video has both Japanese and English.

The efficiency is so good! I have so much respect for the people who make this happen.
still can't compete with Chinese cars
So that’s why our Toyotas are taking so long - David is stopping production 😂
I ordered last month, If I'm lucky I'll get it in June. If not I'll get it in almost november. (Canadian market)
its been 35 plus years, i'm a trainee at Takaoka plant, the production process is ahead of its time..
Now new 4Runner will be delayed again 😂 thanks to David 😂
Always good to see how companies do things. Didnt realize they did mixed model lines. Thank you David!

Great video and thank you for taking us along!
thanks David. great video

I am a quality engineer and it’s amazing how Toyota controls quality in both production and supplier sourcing
Thank you David.
Such a cool video, thanks for showing us.
Will you be doing a video for the GR line? I love how seamlessly you go from English to Japanese!
Great explanation and tour of a Toyota factory David!
Please show us the 70 series factory when you get a chance!

The production line looks so clean and neat! I’d be proud of working there !
Nice of you to show us the ‘Panic’ button in action David 😂
None of this works without the Japanese culture of efficiency and pride in their work
It has worked pretty well in America for 30+ years. Marysville Ohio produced my Honda Accord that made it to 215000 miles
David, The Crown Sedan is being built here, where will the fabulous Crown Signia be built? 🤔
Great video David. Very humble of you to reveal the production line halt. With the LC500 order they have forgiven you. 😉 17:13
Glad you enjoyed it
Wonderful video David. As a lifetime Toyota/Lexis owner and CI student I always wondered...THANK YOU from Calgary!
*Lexus
Actually David was undercover/test by upper management to see how fast team lead reaction to stopping the line…
Fascinating video.
so interesting that they make different models on the same line! thanks for the insight! now, dont touch THAT! LOL!🤣
Any time anyone gives me a sample of something, I assume it's the real thing, that way I never accidentally wreck a real thing 🤣
it's just amazing to see how toyota takens the production so seriously. I'm even a bigger fan of Toyota because of this video. Thank you.
Very good video
Have you been to the Nagakusa plant (re: RAV4’s)?
Is this factory tour open for visitors? I see online the tours were suspended in summer of 2021
Sorry, no factory tours are available anymore for public. This was arranged exclusively for me as a media.

@@AutomotivePress Alright, shame to hear but I thank you for the information! At least this video encapsulates kaizen in action :)
Thank you David.
Engineer messing with field conditions. 😂 stay safe. When sign says wet paint. Dont touch !
Fascinating insight.
Where they make the RAV4 Prime again and can you do a tour there?

Porsche actually has a very good production system.
I’m surprised the andon board was in English.
me too
TOUR OVER, GET THIS GUY OUTTA HERE.
Whose job was it to supervise the Canadian?
Do the North American plants use the Andon System as well?
North American Toyota plants do use Andon system
David, it appears you are speaking in Japanese during your interviews. Do you have a Japanese language version of your videos? If so, please provide.

Thank you! It may be for Chinese market - maybe they have a different regulation for high pressure tanks.
@@AutomotivePress thanks David, that makes sense.
I don't know why TMC is so secretive about their paint process. I saw very little. And I worked for Toyota.
This explains the delay in the 4Runner
Guess they'll have some internal lessons learned when inviting a guest over. hahaha. glad it worked out.
do not give the guest a real live Andon button! LOL
If factory order from a dealer, can you customize that car?
David.... Please, please convince Toyota to produce a 1 ton twin screw 5.7! Everyone at my local beer stop would appreciate the reliability of Toyota in an HD format.
You’ll never forget that!! Just in case you do, it’s recorded lol
Japan is just in a league of its own, no country is even close😀
I wish I could visit Japan. Unfortunately my health is preventing me. Toyota/Lexus 1.

Where is the new 4Runner
It would be cool to see a Toyota Police car built on the line.
Wow! Mistakes happened. Good job David! 😂🤪😜
That will be $1m USD for lost production 😂
Omg that cost them millions of lost revenue probably 😂
I thought he can speak Japanese 😂
