  • In this video I took off the cluster from a Volvo 70 as I had the srs message on the information display. i was able to fix it by soldering the microchips and other bits as well as the power plug it self which had tiny crack on the old solder. Lots of patients is required as well as being able to solder with a very small tip solder.

    Best video ever. Thank you very much. I've recently bought a Volvo and man that's a joke car. I will try to fix this issue soon.
    Thanks again for your tutorial.

    Well done...seems we all have the SRS message, and need the soldering job to be done...04 xc 70....My clock takes off and does a 24 hour lap for a few minutes....and the gas cap sends a message that clears...tighten it down, it re sets, recent gas fill or not.....re tighten, it goes away...but SRS...that remains....The way to re solder is delicate, but the 2 little chips area was revealing....great video

      @@FallaciesDetective I’ll be honest, am a novice, my soldering iron can’t be regulated 😂 so I was extremely careful not to damage anything used flux and just applied heat to the contacts, steady hand helps and a magnifying glass and perhaps a very thin soldering tip.

    We have repaired thousands of these DIMs. After this video aired, we have been getting these DIMs in our shop looking like this guys DIM. Please don't heat up the processors directly over the coating like that. We get them in with the microprocessor pins dragged to the sides, broken and/or shorted which in most cases fries the processor. In these cases an expensive processor replacement is in order. This guy got lucky but I guarantee you it will fail soon with soldering like that. It takes precise technique and skill to solder microprocessors, not to mention the correct equipment, heat setting, solder, flux, etc. Please just send it to the pros.

      Automotive Circuit Solutions thank you for the advice given to others, of course am free to play around with my car and work on it however I do agree with the fact that some time getting the job done professionally is the better option as the correct soldering equipment for ic’s may have a much neater and long lasting effect. Thanks again.

    do you have any experience with 2004 Volvo XC70 after passenger dash airbag deployment? If I replace the airbag/dash, impact sensor and SRS Control module from a junk yard car do I still need car reprogrammed? Car won't start, Airbag fault message on dash.

    Is it possible to change the place of the 2004 model volvo s60 display table and the top models with the 2013 or 2015 s60 table? Does it fit or what might be required for them. Can the problem be solved with extras such as software, program installation or extra electrical installation, thanks in advance.

    • @DaringBeefcake
      @DaringBeefcake  ปีที่แล้ว

      I never tried that but I would think the cluster will be completely different design on a 2013 compared to a 2004, so I don’t think it’s a possible exchange am afraid. However if you get it done then do let us know.

    So initially/before the re-soldering the SRS fault could not be read or could not be deleted?

    • @DaringBeefcake
      @DaringBeefcake  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi as far as I remember, I was able to delete the fault with the computer OBD, but fault would come back and light illuminate again, was also draining the battery. i think it depended on the flexing of the dash so sometimes it would make contact and other times not.
