The backstory behind Jeremy's Storm is crazier given what happened at Desert Daze 2018. The stage was right on a lake in a beautiful desert valley. As the evening came and Tame began, a storm rolled in - huge streaks of lightning illuminating the black horizon, rain coming down. We were loving every second, but the organizers stopped the show 3 songs in. After, Kevin posted on IG that they were going to play Jeremy's storm that night for the first time in a long time. What are the odds? I guess Jeremy's Storm happened earlier than it was supposed to that night...
All of this is just so Western Australia. I grew up in Perth when the music scene was exploding and Tame Impala were starting out. It was such a great time. The music was insane and there was such a sense of energy. A great time to be alive.
Making music can be such a lonely process when you're a one-man band. I'm glad Kevin, despite having largely created the album himself, had a group of friends to hang out with and jam with while in the process of making Innerspeaker.

I had a lot of shit going on and that’s when the album sometimes had a despair sound, and this album in a way became synonymous with my life and that possibly I’m the way that I am today because of this album. Always wanted to have hair like Kevin too lol
Whenever I had a bad day I would play it’s not meant to be and the beginning drums sounded like the harshness of life but the base was there to comfort me. When I got tired of other people and felt rejected I would put on Solitude is Bliss and listened to the lyrics and thought if the world outside didn’t like me I guess I could have my own world of euphoria on the inside and the outside wouldn’t matter anymore. This man truly has written a soundtrack that I come back to every once in a while where I can sit and feel nostalgia of my own past and remember those feelings and it truly feels like a part of me is attached to InnerSpeaker.
I used to listen to "Innerspeaker" all that summer long, watching the sea from up a hill, chilling slightly high on a hammock under Mediterranean pine forests and chatting with friends, waiting for the night to come and going to the beach, swimming in glowing plankton and looking at the infinite stars up in the dark blue sky.
