You can start either with Fire Emblem 7 in an emulator (probably the most basic of basic fire emblem there is, but good to start with) or three houses if you don't mind a bit of a persona-esque approach in between chapters. Most Fire Emblem games focus mostly on their lords and close affiliates and leave other units characterisations a bit in the dust save for some support conversations. Three houses does the characterisation of their entire cast very well though. The song belongs to Shadow of valentia, which works with a smaller cast and some slightly different rules to 'common' Fire emblem as well. But besides a bit too faithful mapdesign to the original, the game is an absolute gem. I'd say th best gameplay is from Fire Emblem fates. Although i have to warn you that aside from gameplay and mapdesign, the story and nearly all characters are atrocious, especially the main bunch. Basically, if you skip the story, it's good. The best story most likely still belongs to either Tracia 776 (An older snes title) or Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn (direct sequel). Next week, there's gonna be a new game.. Although i gotta admit, i'm still a bit on the fence about it,
sometimes i regret starting with three houses because i'm afraid i won't find another FE game that beats it :) i guess that means it's great, though. engage looks great but i don't think the story is as... hurtful as three houses lmao for starters, there's fire emblem heroes for mobile. it is nothing like a real FE game but it's fun and really helped me learn FE strategy. made jumping into three houses combat a lot easier

This is my favourite Fire Emblem game, aside from the fact that both of my favourite characters died somewhat brutally. This song always brings me back to the first time I beat this game. I was in tears, sitting alone in the dark, merely in awe of what I'd just played. I was underlevelled, and yet that made it all the more bittersweet knowing that, despite all we had done, all we had fought for, would eventually be undone by man's own evil. This game truly was something else.
It’s meant to be sung from the perspective of none other than Mila, the “Earth Mother”… so yeah, it’s a sad one. All she really wanted throughout her time in Valentia was for humanity to know true happiness. This song [in my headcanon] might as well be a transcript of her *_final words._* :’(

Do you mean screwed in the sense that he goes through a lot of rough stuff in the story or screwed in a writing-sense (ex. wasted potential)? I feel Alm & Celica were both written beautifully imo.
@@crabbit2773 Celica is good, but I feel like Alm just, his part is so forgettable compared to Celica, and I feel like part of that is because, as a character, he's amazing but he got almost no actual development. There's a lot of wasted potential with him that I feel the writers chose to put into Celica instead. Their characters don't feel balanced, ya'know?
@@tobecon2725 Aaahhhh, yeah I see what you mean, Alm doesn't really develop, at least past Act I. I don't mind personally, since I think Alm is awesome the way he is. However, yeah, there's definitely a disbalance. I wonder if that's because Celica actively had her personality flaws used against her, challenging her (which is a huge part of why I adore Celica so much); while Alm never really gets challenged in that regard as his challenge is the war against Rufia, so Alm the leader is challenged, but not Alm the individual, if that makes sense.
It definitely stung when, on my first playthrough, after fighting Clive all game for a deathless run, in the final battle, my favorite character, Mae, died to secure the finishing blow. I don't remember why, but Turnwheel wasn't an option at that point, so I redid the entire chapter immediately after the credits finished, even though it was well past midnight and the sun had started to rise. I'm pretty sure this song made me cry. And if it didn't, Boey's epilogue text definitely did. The first time, this song was very bittersweet, but the second time, it was relieving and triumphant.

He was pretty much useless as quickly as his bases stopped being sufficient, and then simply couldn't keep up, so I stopped trying, and then he plagued me every time Alm's team got ambushed. Witches had a pretty high consistency rate on opening an ambush by warping to the back of the army and killing Clive in one hit... I'll be honest, I've never seen any unit in any Fire Emblem stop being usable faster than Clive managed to on that first run. It was almost impressive.

I've heard the localization for Fates butchered a lot of the original writing too (at least with Supports), so it's possible the bad reception is just outside of Japan, but don't quote me on that. Although, I'm inclined to say Celica/Alm would be better because Celica's my favourite FE character, lol.
