Some will prefer it's photos and videos to those shot on the 24U, whereas others won't. It literally is splitting hairs here. The differences are so small.
Looks like the S24 camera is bringing back the more vibrant, saturated colors that Samsung was known for. I noticed the S23's camera toned down it's colors for a more washed out "natural" look, but I love the more vibrant colors.
Many don't though. And will pan the S24 series for this. Which is a waste of anger as all this can be altered in the settings or simply in editing. I prefer more punchy colours myself to be honest.
Samsung has subtly followed Apple and Google in the S24 by slightly upping the contrast in photos especially. In some of the shots though it made things look a little too processed to my eye. I give it to the S23 in photos as it's photos simply look more natural. In video, I think Samsung got things right in the S24, as it shows better detail and texture overall.
With One UI 6.1 coming to S23 series, maybe some of the advantages that S24 had in this video will come to S23 series too. But of course, only some of them. Samsung needs to keep a reason to people buy S24 haha. Amazing video, as always
Thank u but what version do u have? Exynos or snap? On paper both have identical camera hardware, so it’s really boils down to software and maybe cpu processing.
Thanks for the review! Please can you test the shutter reaction and AF with fast moving subjects like kids and pets? The S23 Ultra was slow in this department. Thanks!
This is a key weakness with Samsung flagships. If you trawl TH-cam for S24 images, it appears that motion blur is still present. Whether this has been reduced in comparison to S23 shots remains to be seen.
The S23 is an excellent photographic and video tool, so ANY improvements are noteworthy. Some people will prefer photos or videos taken on the S23 though. It will always be splitting hairs from one flagship to the next. Many people will see what they want to see anyway.
I really waited for the S24 ultra to come out to be able to get the S23 ultra cheaper, but after this video I just really want the S24 Ultra. the photos are that good.
@@Xristo11 well I am watching this on a 48 inch Oled as pc monitor, and then you sure can see the difference. Photography also is my day job so I'm watching the small details. But the s24 is sharper and has better dynamic range in all the photo's
@@MisterMotel That is interesting, as so many people say that the S23 Ultra oversharpens photowise to the extent you have to go in to the camera assistant in settings and reduce sharpness there to get the best out of it (this works brilliantly). I guess perfection really is in the eye of the beholder. If they have increased sharpness on the S24 series, this will be to the dismay of some reviewers. Which is a bit silly as camera assistant will sort this out on the S24 presumably?.
Please mention if the s24 you are using is the exynos or the snapdragon version, as due to difference in ISP they both take noticeably different images and if history is anything to go by, exynos version is usually worse
I think you are a bit blinded by the new model just for the fact that it is a new model because in half of the shoots, I actually prefer the S23. It definitely has better exposure! At night time the S24 has improved somehow a little bit, but overall they take quite the same pics. It's not worth an upgrade at all!
What about photos of the documents? S23 had big problem called banana blur where part of the image was out of focus. I've heard that cameras in S24 and S24+ are the same as in S23 and S23+ :(
Sure, one can adapt and use 2x. But, are you happy spending close to $1000 on a flagship phone only to find out that its main camera is defective? And even worse, seeing that some models DON'T have the issue at all while others do.. There has been a major quality control flop and it was mostly ignored unfortunately@@Voltar78
The quality difference here will be negligible. Had Samsung have fitted the 50Mp sensor to it's 10x optical zoom system, they would have destroyed the competition in terms of higher magnification zoom. Fit this sensor to the 3x zoom also and REALLY crush the competition. Too much cost cutting going on unfortunately. The 10x optical zoom system's cost was cutting into Samsung's profits.
Just picked up the S24 today on a smoking hot deal super excited. I've been a big Pixel guy for the last 6 years. Google has my heart but I needed a change. I get a new phone every two years so hopefully the S24 is a great experience!
First video of this I've seen, but missing a major component! Why didn't you show the 10x comparison, I really wanted to see the difference between optical 10x and the digital 10x (from 5x). EDIT: Ignore me, this isn't a S24U comparison 😅
GSM Arena says the S24 has a different telephoto sensor(but still the same 10mpx). This might explain the improvement in 3X. Other than that and night mode there are almost no differences.
Thanks for this video but most of the time there's an update (sometimes 2 or more) that comes out after the phone is released to the public. Might be a good idea to do this video a month or 2 from now
Great comparison, thanks! S24 looks indeed a bit better overall! Can you tell us if your S24 is having the Exynos or Qualcomm chipset? Do you know if we can face differences of picture quality between those 2? Thanks!
On the S23 you can activate 3 degrees of photo softening in camera assistant in it's settings. This works brilliantly. The S24 will have this ability also.
many people write that there is no difference, but as for me, Samsung has FINALLY moved in the direction of removing sharpness!! for how many years, it was the excessive sharpness of the picture that scared me away from Samsung, the white edges around objects and people, my God! and now they are finally moving in the right direction, and in most cases I can see a big difference. the only thing is that the 24 series lacks contrast in places, but otherwise the 24 looks better
S23 is not warmer. It has a lot of green tone. Similar to sony cameras. Looks unnatural and slightly sick. S24 has a better natural skin tone. More magenta tone.
I hope the S24 colors are more accurate. The S23's isn't. My S23 Ultra has a problem with red and orange colors. They're not true red and orange when you take the picture. One example is autumn leaves. You don't get the accurate orange and red colors. They're muted.
Only the upcoming (2025 onwards) multispectral camera systems in flagship devices will give TRUE colours ALL the time. In current flagships, they will all struggle with certain colours.
Thank you for the beautiful demo, it's really always difficult between those 23 & 24 , if you didn't mentioned it , I can't really see a huge differences on a small screen. But if you satisfied with your the S23, why should I change it , who cares ...📸 but I am very curious about take a picture with a high speed on the PRO mode. I am very disappointed on the S23 , cuz it doesn't gave a good results on S23, very bad. Thanks if you could take it on the S24??
This is not just software / Ai. Probably the camera on the S24+ just has better GLASS. Altough it even gets better combined with software processing / Ai / 10 core exynos 2400. Good camera starts at the base: good LENS!
May I ask why you did not do 5X and 10X ? I've read one test and seen another test that the S23 has sharper and more detailed 5X and 10X. Curious if you tested that.
At the moment I'm still using the Samsung S20 plus as my daily phone and it does everything I need. Camera is good but nowadays nothing special. Hi, can you test photos of documents with text, or something with text on it to check if the banana blur problem found in many s23 is still there on the s24?
Honestly, the difference between S23 and S24 is so small as to almost disappear. I don't regret taking the S23 in December at all
Me 2
I agree. I'm not buying a new phone 4 at least a year or two.
I have 4 years Old phone (model is 5 years Old). S24 in now cheapper in my place than s23 so decision is obvious.
Agreed, even i bought it in December and don't regret it. Although the price drop did hurt a little
I thought the same: those minor differences doesn't justify the change to the new device. I will keep my S23+
I don't know. S24 seems more washed out. Have to admit, I like the look of the S23 better.
same
Same
Hopefully it's something they'll fix with a software update. Makes no sense really. And I kinda agree with what you said.
I hope it's because of the software so it can get updated. It'd be embarrassing if it's a hardware issue
Same!
She says s24 is sharper etc but Naaaa s23 is better hands down imo
Super helpful video. I preordered the S24 and happy with results you’ve shared. Not huge difference if someone owns the S23, but a great camera.
I love this channel. Camera tests are always first here
Great camera test. Seems like S23 Ultra is still a good contender
Some will prefer it's photos and videos to those shot on the 24U, whereas others won't. It literally is splitting hairs here. The differences are so small.
This is the vanilla variant not the Ultra.
This has nothing to do with the S23 Ultra wich has a total different main camera.
This is the comparative video that I wanted. Thank you for creating the content.😊😊
The contrasty look in s23 looks better than slightly brighter look in s24 for me
maybe the s24 needs time to optimize

S24 slightly better. I thought the gap would've been wider considering all the upgrades Samsung have been bragging for the S24.
Only upgrade for s24 in camera is actualy new chipset with new ISP. Both phones uses same sensors

This is at least a S23,5. It's like a modded version of its predecessor.
