- American military bases in Europe are on heightened alert amid growing concerns of a possible terrorist attack in the coming weeks, U.S. officials say. Bases in Germany, Italy and potentially other countries have reportedly been affected, but details on any specific terror threat remain unknown. @@jackiepaper101 There are plenty of civilians in, on, and around military bases, and many bases exist wholly within cities. A military base in allied territory is NOT the same as a forward position in hostile territory. Lastly, even if you are in the military it does not automatically make you a combatant, such as chaplains and medics. Terrorism also refers to the type of violence being employed. Suicide attacks and other gruesome means of inflicting violence are often considered terrorist in nature regardless of target.
@Agadeem That's just a play of words. The citizens of some of these countries definitely consider the U.S. bases in their country as 'forward bases' in their territory.

They need to raise the threat level for drivers coming out of US bases. American base personnel in Britain keep causing fatal car crashes by driving on the wrong side of the road. In one particularly bad case a woman killed a motorcyclist and then fled the country to avoid punishment, she only got away with it because her husband was a diplomat even though she wasn't covered by diplomatic immunity.

Sure, but there probably have been periods of very bad warfare. I'd personally be more concerned for climate change + stress = war scenario being the more likely allegory for those parts. I.e. climate change combined with added, already existing social issues will combine into the mother of all conflicts, globally speaking.

Would we not intervene immediately, perhaps even seeking professional help or legal intervention to correct such disturbing behavior? The fact that these actions are instead being perpetrated by adults in positions of power is even more unconscionable.
It is a damning indictment of our collective moral compass that those entrusted with leadership roles can engage in such destructive behaviors without apparent spiritual or ethical qualms. The disconnect between the responsibility to protect and nurture citizens and the actual conduct we're witnessing is staggering.
I implore you, as stewards of your nations and representatives of your people, to cease these detrimental activities immediately. It is time to reconnect with our shared humanity, to act with wisdom and compassion, and to prioritize the well-being of all global citizens and our planet.
The world is watching and waiting for a return to reason, empathy, and responsible governance. The time for positive change is now. Let us work together to create a future we can be proud to pass on to the next generations.
