I suspect the home took a power surge or a power sag.
I would lose cooling because my coils were dirty.4 hours then it stops being cool...my filter is 22 x 22...i needed a 24x24 ..all the hairs was getting into the coils.Cleaned that..Cooling restored.

I never agreed with the name Run Cap Bandit. It doesn't really mean what it's supposed to mean. Even so, our friend in the other Carolina uses it for the ones who mount it in the box with no bracket. That's not you. And your technique is perfectly fine in any professor's book.
Right now I’m without my AC until Tuesday. Lennox system with a leaking coil-again (second replacement since 2020). Last year it was the compressor. I have one more year left on the warranty.
Not just Lennox. they all have coil issues these days. Hope it all works out.

Lennox used to patch up systems long ago. I switched brands way back then!
Get yourself a sharpie. Start writing the date and what you do on each unit. Use shorthand if you need to. It makes it nice to pull off the cover and see what’s been done in the past. Also write a baseline for all your numbers, capacitance, pressures, temperature, etc.
if I didn’t put your system in, I’m not going out after hours, on the weekend and especially not on a holiday. Get the jackleg who put it in to come out.
Amrad and Mars is where its at those cheap Mexico, Korean, Chinese caps suck and cant handle heat for a year.
My Jard capacitors last about four years max. I install Mars premium or Amrad.
