    1. Fruit juice
    2. Bagels
    3. Pasta
    4. Potatoes/sweet potatoes
    5. Chocolate
Mitigate blood sugar spikes by going on a walk after meals, or pairing carbs with fiber (vegetables/roughage) and protein.

I have gestational diabetes while pregnant and have learned a lot about blood sugar spikes. Tricky thing about GD is my carb needs are fairly high for baby so I can’t go keto. The only way for me to meet my carb needs while avoiding spikes is eating only whole wheat grains, and pairing them with fat, proteins, and fiber. Insulin resistance is worse in the morning so breakfast and lunch tend to be tougher than dinner. Exercise or any movement after eating helps mitigate blood sugar spikes too. Fruit is usually a no for me but I do tolerate berries very well (high in fiber).

While the regular bagels certainly didn't help, the glucose spike from Bobby's breakfast was mostly attributed to the OJ he drank - immediate blood absorption all at once. Everyone should read Dr. Peter Attia's Outlive book if you're interested in learning more from a doctor who really understands biochemistry from foods. Dr. Attia also did a great podcast with Dr. Robert Lustig on this subject.

Hi Bobby, switch the monitor to your left arm and you will see your glucose levels will be different than on your right arm. Even finger pricks are different between your right hand and your left hand. In fact, it will change even between fingers. Only really accurate glucose test is a blood draw at a lab. I test the same fingers on both my right and left hand and rarely do they agree. One will be higher than the other hand. John in Ohio

I really enjoy your show and how you’re trying to educate. I have a couple of suggestions for this episode. In talking about the breakfasts you only mentioned the breads but a large part of your spike was probably due to the juice which you didn’t mention. A true experiment means you only vary one thing and then evaluate the difference. Also in talking about the pastas you claim that the complex carbohydrate ones are better for you without actually doing that experiment. They have more nutrients but if we’re talking about blood sugars I don’t know that they are better. I have type 1 diabetes snd have to take insulin and would not eat either of those pastas. I choose not to eat any kind of rice or pasta because of the spikes and can only eat a very small portion of actual chickpeas or hummus. Some diabetics think they can eat anything as long as they take enough insulin but your body does not benefit from high levels of insulin floating around either. Keep up the good work. Don’t know if I can find those brands in my area ( the bread looked good) but I’ll be checking. It is great that there are so many low carb choices because of keto popularity

People with a damaged metabolism often awaken with elevated blood sugar and insulin levels before eating anything. They do better prolonged fasting with a 20-4 fasting or an omad diet. Who knew that a bowl of organic oats w berries, tahini or walnuts, ch ch chia seeds , sweetened w RX sugar replacement ( allulose), fiber( store brand of Benefiber)
Umm umm good and I don’t get hungry until 2:30-3.
No mid morning snack but that may be a problem because I’m not eating much fruit in between meals for snacks because I’m not hungry between breakfast and lunch.😘 9:05

Do you have a video for healthy breakfasts for picky kids? We have a terrible breakfast diet right now. French toast or waffles with syrup. Or cereal. High in sugar. Any advice would be so much appreciated.

While I kind of already knew this, to see it was in the charts was REALLY impactful. Thank you for being the guinea pig and doing this!

I'd love more diabetes central videos. My husband is diabetic and I am pre-diabetic. Also I'd love some Mediterranean recipes.

You can easily reverse diabetes by just eating only meat 🥩

I bet if you mixed that Mac and cheese with some chicken or fish or some other type of meat that blood glucose probably wouldn’t spike as high. Of course it also depends on the amount you eat too.

How user friendly is that glucose monitor? Is there support to help me get started? That’s pricey per year if there’s no help from the manufacturer

I can't eat brown rice or brown rice pasta. It makes my heart beat faster. Could you please talk about the toxin that's in brown rice? Thank you.

Even children today have signs of artery disease. Fast foods and sugary drinks have long term consequences.
There is an obesity epidemic today where over 60% of the population is overweight or obese.
What is common today and "NORMAL" is not healthy. The average person today is not healthy and is taking medications.
Heart attacks were once only common in people over 65. Today people in their 40 are having heart attacks.
Add more plants and vegetables to your diet and less junk and overly processed foods
