      Alisa mentioned she was headed somewhere to teach sound doctrine not long ago, I wonder if you both could speak on that and on making disciples, solid good teaching which is needed and is lacking in some of the church, and how the mind may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

      @Cage Stage Calvinist God providentially hardens the heart of individuals determined to reject the gospel. 2 Peter 3:9 does say that God is not willing that any should perish. But God also will not force Himself onto anyone. Humans are free moral agents.

      My Catholic relatives have all kinds of those sayings. When I say, "Did you know that's actually not in the bible?" They look at me with ENORMOUS shock. @Kyle Isaacson No, the bible teaches that a woman has different abilities than a man. HUGE difference.

    • @zachsnack2046
      @zachsnack2046 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The Bible isn’t sexist. The Bible teaches men are supposed to be leaders. This doesn’t mean women are lesser than men. I’m learning from these women, but I’m sure they are led by their husbands

    • @zachsnack2046
      @zachsnack2046 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Kyle Isaacson Language was different back then. Men could sell themselves to other men if they were poor, and contractually worked for another man for six years and then leave the seventh year. This is not slavery. As for the women, her father could give her to a man in marriage for exchange of a payment. The payment was for the good of the woman to ensure she was well taken care of. For if the husband did not treat his wife right she could divorce him and go back to her family as well as keep the payment.

    • @zachsnack2046
      @zachsnack2046 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Kyle Isaacson you speak as if submissive is a bad term. Christians submit themselves to God. Women submit themselves to their husband in exchange for protection and being provided for. What is the ideal relationship to you? Men providing protection and money while the wife is still the leader and dominant one. What does the man get in this relationship? In any relationship you have to sacrifice something in exchange for something else. You can’t have everything go your way.

    • @zachsnack2046
      @zachsnack2046 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Kyle Isaacson I googled submissive definition. One is conforming to another will. In other words putting their partners want before their own. This definition doesn’t imply they are unequal. But let’s go there. Men and women aren’t equal in the finer details. Men do have more strength than women. This is why women don’t compete with men in sports like boxing. Women are better off with a strong man protecting them. But this doesn’t mean unequal because we can look at it the other way. Women are softer and more gentle which makes them better with children in some sense. But generally I say men and women are equal. God doesn’t love me more than these women. Men and women have the same intellectual capabilities. But we have different quirks that make us different. I agree a partnership is better working together. This means allowing your partner to have control over areas they are better at.

    It was a full time job trying to come to my “true self” when I was in the New Thought. I felt that if I wasn’t coming into my true self then, I couldn’t please God. It was a never ending cycle of highs and lows that were completely unsustainable. I was taught that if I was saved I would no longer have sinful thoughts or act in sin ever again once you accept Christ. So when I would sin I would be so frustrated and did not realize that my salvation is sealed and not dependent upon me but upon the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ. Also was told I had to do miracles as evidence that I was saved and knew I couldn’t do them so again I thought I probably wasn’t saved. Experiences were allegedly signs that the Holy Spirit was in your life and that you were saved and if you were not manifesting then you probably weren’t saved. Such a mess. I Thank God for bringing me out, calling me to repentance and belief. For the first time I was taught from some Christian friends how to read scripture in context instead of reading it based upon what it means to me.

      Before I was saved the one church I never wanted to be a part of was an independent Baptist church. I kept hearing how they were all dead, and nobody really knew the Lord. Then I got saved, and a year later ended up living with my sister, who was an independent Baptist. I grew like a weed there, challenged by the pastor to prove my beliefs with the Bible. That was 1983. I’ve been in independent Baptist churches ever since, especially because I read Baptist history early on, and learned about the core doctrines of a Scriptural church.
      And just because someone puts the name Baptist on a church, doesn’t mean they are one (in the Scriptural sense); it just means they claim to obey the Bible, hold to believer’s baptism, eternal security, etc., and expect members to study the scriptures for themselves and pursue sanctification.
      Favorite Baptist history books: A Trail of Blood (shortest); The Church That Jesus Built (Roy Mason; simplest); The Bible Makes Us Baptists (Mary Bamford; historical fiction, set in the 1550’s; read aloud in homeschool. My son, who was 13-14, loved it. Lots of adventure, blood and guts, as Baptists were hunted and slaughtered for obeying God and conscience. Pretty graphic, parental discretion advised.

She thinks conflict is bad, confrontation, She actually labels rebuke as hate. It makes me so sad. She also gets the judging thing wrong too.

      Lord in heaven, I bring my friends before you. Deliver them from the captivity of the devil. Let their ears be receptive of your word. Let your word, which is an inspiration from you, make them realize what is wrong in their lives, correct them when they are wrong, and teach them to do what is right. I grew up in a Reformed Presbyterian church-I miss that community and the psalm sings. It was a gift to memorize the psalms with music as a child. I started questioning the rigid practices of the denomination as a teenager and was met with verses taken out of context and quotes from Calvin. I didn’t understand why they seemed to think of themselves as more spiritual than other denominations that worshipped God with instruments and/or songs outside the Psalms. I left the church my parents still attended, and joined a baptist church, then a charismatic church, then an Evangelical Free church, and then a missional Lutheran church...after all this, I’d go back to the RP church in a heartbeat. I miss the simplicity and no-nonsense Sunday gatherings. I also now realize how most churches, vastly different in practice, do what they do out of tradition and not out of a clear command. As body of believers, we should be able to recognize the clear commands of God from our traditions-including how we corporately worship. I still have my Psalter and I’m teaching my children to sing and worship God with Psalm 23!

    I grew up in a Word of Faith church that my family attended for ten years starting in 1967. I heard these false doctrines over and over throughout those years, particularly the positive/negative confession stuff. It wasn’t until I read Dave Hunt’s excellent book; The Seduction Of Christianity, in the mid 80’s, that the Holy Spirit began to peel off the layers of false teaching that had built up in my life. That was a process that would take the next two decades for me to arrive at the point where I had learned what should have been a foundational part of my Christian walk, but wasn’t.
    I had always been taught that the pattern for a Christian is that we must belong to a church and come under the authority of the Elders and the Pastor, whom God has ordained as the dispensers of Truth and how dangerous it is for us to just rely on prayerfully reading the scriptures when seeking what the Lord has to teach us, so this text was an eye-opener. Especially when I read it in the context of the chapter, and then the whole book. (Which is how we should read the scriptures, rather than just isolated verses) I was led to the teachings of Jesus to the disciples on the night of the Last supper, about the ministry of the Holy Spirit, found in John’s Gospel, from chapter 14 through 17. These are two texts within that section of John’s Gospel that are staggering to contemplate if you think about what Jesus is promising here. I’ve capitalised the words that stand out to me:-
    John 14:26 - KJV
    26. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, HE SHALL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
    John 16:12-15 - KJV
    12. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, HE WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. 15. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
    I don’t know how many times I had read these words and never really seen what Jesus was saying and when I did have my eyes opened, it took my breath away!
    The Spirit led me to something in 1 John that I had read a time or two, but hadn’t really SEEN until the Holy Spirit highlighted it for me in the context I mentioned above. It directly addresses the issue of recognising false teachers:-
    1 John 2:26-27
    26. These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
    27. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
    Then I saw what Paul had written to Timothy:-
    2 Timothy 3:14-17 - KJV
    14. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15. And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17. That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
    This is also in the context of dealing with false teachers and false doctrines and as I read these words slowly, I was again stunned at what they actually say. In fact, the whole of the New Testament deals with this issue of false doctrines in one way or another.
    I remember a Sunday School song we used to sing that says; ‘Read your Bible and pray every day and you’ll grow, grow, grow.’ Pretty basic and perhaps a little trite sounding, but as it turns out, absolutely true, if we remember to pray before we open our Bible and ask the Lord to teach us what He wants us to know and learn. It took me forty years to learn that simple lesson, but I praise God for the experience, because I have learned much that I find useful in these days of people coming out of false teaching and spiritual abuse. One thing I learned is that this whole process can take quite a while and that there is pain involved, on many levels, but the Lord is faithful and it is well worth the price to know the Truth and be free.

    Thank you for helping me to understand. This discussion really helps me to see what is so wrong about some of these beliefs. Please pray for me to be able to remember so that I can refute in love and scripturally true. I wish that I had never had those years of wandering instead of solid Bible teaching. I especially regret the 15 years that I spent in a large denominational church where I was not getting solid Bible teaching. AND... I am SO GRATEFUL for God’s leading me through some questionable stuff and into His word by leading me to solid Bible teachers. I count you both in that last category. Thank you.

    Im at that exact point of searching and accepting the bible over what i was taught. I spend hours on you tube and internet and in my study bible. Its like an obsession right now. A bit overwhelming. Thanks so much for sharing and thank you for your channel as well.

    If Jesus were to stand beside one of these people in the flesh,
    His words,
    "I am the way, the truth and the life. None comes to the Father except through me"
    will stay the same.
    Why?
    "Heaven and Earth may pass away, but my words will never pass away" - Jesus Christ

    This has been going on in churches since the 70's. Back in the late 80's my then wife (we were both Bible believing Christians and were living christian lives in a sound evangelical church) attended a series of "Healing of the Emotions" workshops with her sister (also a sound christian) in a local church.
    Without going too far into the details, after opening this doorway in her life, she completely went off the rails. The change in her was literally unbelievable. It started with bouts of depression, and ended with her having a full blown sexual affair with one of the church deacons (who's own wife was pregnant with their first child at the time). This whole process took less than a year. We ended up getting divorced a couple of years later. Needless to say I was shattered by this whole experience, as was the church we attended.
    At the time I was totally ignorant of these dangers, but years later I learned that this "Healing of the Emotions" technique at this church's workshops is THE EXACT technique witches and other occultists use to invite familiar spirits into their lives. I was shocked when I learned this, but strangely it explained so much of the utter craziness that we experienced at the time. This was confirmed a few years later when I read (I think) John Drane's book "What is the New Age Still Saying to the Church".
    Fortunately, after many years of pain and suffering (and another divorce) my ex-wife found her way back to God, healing, and repentance. She's now happily married again with a family. We have corresponded since then, and have expressed our forgiveness for one another, in Christ.
    To this day I have no doubt in my mind that it was this all fomented by my wife opening a occult spiritual doorway into her life via these workshops, ported DIRECTLY into the church from the occult, and given a "christian label". I have done a LOT of reading and research on this subject since and it's shocking to me how readily we (in the church) adopt methods, techniques, and practices, that have NO corresponding equivalent in the Bible. Everything from "mindfulness" (an occult practice), to "prayer walking" (a Buddhist technique) to the use of meditative labyrinths (a Hindu practice). We should be a LOT more discerning and our pastors should be a LOT more protective of their flocks!

    So thankful for true sisters out there. Thank you for sticking to God's Truth! So many need actual healing and are being led down the wrong spiritual path because they allow their needs to lead them instead of the Truth. Hurts when all you need is some friendly compassion and you're told "don't claim that" .

    I love this ! I went through the same thing you did Melissa when I repented and gave my life to Christ in the beginning back in 1995 but I didn’t have any studying and if I did it was minimal it was a small church they taught the biblical Jesus but I didn’t have support because they just started and very humble small church , cause I wasn’t reading or had someone to support I fell back to the world for 20 yrs , I came back to Christ in 2016 but this church puts focus on discipleship but I think it needs to be tweaked in some of the way we need to approach the great commission they don’t teach new age but there is some stuff that is seen in some people who attend there and this needs to be addressed we need a class that will teach these kind of things we need to learn to see and be discerning, specially now a days ! It’s necessary! I’m glad there is people out there who take the time to care about letting the church know about this , many people you mention it’s watched with a lot of people I know I’m praying the lord gives me wisdom to I can speak truth to them and be equipped!

    Thank you both for discussing these important issues.
    I started in the AoG over 30 years ago, and much of these false teachings were alive back then too. More open, accepted and pervasive today, but much the same old lies.
    God bless you!

      That's not what she said. She's saying that your Truth should be based on the Word of God and NOT on your personal experience. We are called to have faith whether or not we have mystical experiences.

    Fantastic work ladies, it is not uncommon to see any of this in any given church, I was almost sucked into something like this and thank God! That the good Lord gave me the wits to see through it all.

    Thank you, Alisa and Melissa, for this incredibly clarifying video. It is so difficult to find biblical women standing up for the Bible online in the wake of so many ministries led by people who aren’t even aware of the falsehood they espouse!
    I had another thought about the cake analogy: if the most important thing is unity in the present, then you will perpetually be adding an abundance of nasty ingredients to the cake and never reaching the point of putting it in the oven to actually finish it!
    The same thing happens when churches begin introducing thought and language from CRT, intersectionality, postmodernism, etc.
    Of course the Church isn’t all-in with the radical agenda to create a new society, but the idea of social justice is so appealing that it causes woke churches to be in a constant state of repentance for imagined racism, sexism, and bigotry that they never committed.

    Wonderful insight. A great presenter. She directs her question and when you digress she redirects you to the issue at hand. And also she is confident, patient and really knows her stuff. She puts Richard Rohr in his place and he has no place to go if he listens to you.
