I’m black but the church I currently attend is mainly a white church. In my experience, for blacks who may have views that people may consider as a white conservative evangelical view, blacks won’t necessarily be called White, but will be asked “why are you following a white man’s religion”. My comeback is usually “Christianity came from the Jews and grew from the Middle East, etc).

Very perceptive. This always humors me. Jesus was a Jew from Palestine. Paul, also from the Middle East. Christianity's most prominent theologian (St. Augustine) was a North African... But guess ethnicity popularized atheism and liberalism/progressivism thought? If anything - and I mean anything - is to ever be considered the "white man's religion," it's this deconstruction postmodern crap.

Alisa, at 54 minutes your gusts says, "I'm hopeful that eventually Trump will go away from American politics, and then us Christians should just stand here and some of these ex evangelicals will come creeping back because they will discover God is real and they need help, they need to be saved." This is so sad because it's missing the whole point and actually contradicts the points you were trying to make Alisa. Unfortunately, the mentality of this woman is the same as those who claim that Christianity can't be true because of Trump (or any other cultural or political thing that doesn't go their way) only she happens to be on the other end of the argument, but her analysis and reasoning processes are exactly founded on the same faulty notions and logic as many of the deconstructionalists. If someone leaves Christianity because of a political figure, they were not Christian. If someone "comes back" to Christianity when someone in culture or politics they don't like is out of sight, then they are not really coming back to GOD or the TRUTH!!! The Gospel, the truth, God and Salvation are transcendent. They are not stipulated on earthly things such as political figures. That's the whole f***ing point to true conversion and salvation.
It seems to be painfully difficult for a large swath of American Christians to understand that when you are voting on a president or governor, you are NOT voting on your 'Messiah' or religious leader or spiritual guru. You are voting on who is the best candidate to fill that particular office based on economic, cultural or political demands - both international and domestic. Voting for a president does not implicate you in their private life or "personal sins" anymore than working for your employer implicates you before God for what your employer gets off on at 2:00 am on his/her computer in privacy.
If you want to bring your personal convictions into your voting, then simply vote for the lesser of two evils - which in U.S. politics is objectively the Republican option. Trump doesn't discredit Christianity by his stances or life any more than Biden or anyone else. And do you see the insidious nature of this deception by Satan? He's brow beating Christians for voting for Trump, but not brow beating all the Leftist "Christians" for voting for Biden who is far worse on moral issues. Why is this whole issue of "faith and politics" only being bull horned when it comes to Trump when it is the Dems who always field the most ungodly candidates. It's a total spiritual deception and attack against Christians. American Christians are becoming the laughing stock of all the Christian in the world because of this crazy mentality regarding not voting politically for someone because of their private life. It's sick, because what these Christians are really saying is that their "righteousness" is tied into politics and the performance of man - and that's an abomination. The very point of the concerns they claim, are what they are swallowing. It's a total lie.

      @stasiadarling8159 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In response to your “why”:
Trump is using Christianity and Christ’s name all over his political campaigns. The other candidates don’t. So when unbelievers listen in and they hear Trump say, “I am your retribution”, compare his “persecution” with Christ’s suffering, when they read his demeaning, slanderous, divisive rhetoric, they draw appropriate conclusions about beliefs & principles of his “evangelical followers “.
For me the holiness of God’s name is at stake here. Because I can’t vote against my conscience, I’ll be writing in names in this election, trusting that the Lord is sovereign and He is moving history in the right direction.

The love of Jesus, His call to us, is to preach Truth, His Gospel...BUT NEVER to spend time with the sinner in the middle of their pagan life...the obedience is to preach repentance, new birth, holiness and persevere until the end to be saved.
Tolerance of sin is not part of Jesus Gospel. Beware!
If the sinner repent and give fruits of this repentance, be embraced, if not then in the most compassionate love explain to him that hell is coming for those in sin.
Ephesians 5:27 explains clearly the type of church Jesus comes to pick up: a holy glorious church, stainless and with no wrinkle.

Those born again, are not meant to be involved in any pagan activity unless they are preaching the holy Gospel and teaching the Scriptures to those interested.
People who do not know the Gospel, we are called to preach it to them of course will all love to our neighbor. Here is well explained in the text you saw:
Once you preach the Gospel: "If the sinner repents and gives fruits of this repentance, that one be embraced, if not then in the most compassionate love explain to him that hell is coming for those in sin." and then you must depart from them.
The time we spend with sinners is preaching the Gospel and teaching Scriptures. Spending time with sinners does not mean being involved in their pagan activities which are devoted to their lives in sin.

If we would just admit that instead of trying to make excuses/reasons for it, and start platforming it, at least it wouldn't lead others astray. There is no such thing as a white or black churches. There is no such thing as exvangelical. It’s racism to divide churches into ethicists. Christ doesn’t care about your color. Well said Anne
60 When many of his disciples heard it, they said, "This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?"
61 But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, "Do you take offense at this?
62 Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
64 But there are some of you who do not believe." (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.)
65 And he said, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father."
66 After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him.
67 So Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you want to go away as well?"
68 Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life,
69 and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God."
70 Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil."
71 He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the twelve, was going to betray him. (John 6:60, ESV)

To me, the concern is when Christians turn to politics as their idol & get caught up in the divisiveness - generalizing abt & hating their enemies. we must always seek 1st the kingdom of God in our lives, prayerfully make our decisions abt who we support & vote for … while remembering these things are of this fallen world. Sadly, it’s been voting for the lesser of 2 evils for as long as I can remember… & too often voting agnst something/someone instead of for someone. Trump isn’t our savior, he’s an imperfect man, but I agree, at least he’s fighting agnst some terrible, harmful things. The alternative is scary.

There is no "white evangelical church." It's just a category created by pollsters - they poll people, ask their religion, their ethnicity and who they're voting for. If they're white and they don't attend Catholic, Orthodox, LDS, or "Seven Sister" churches, they're evangelical. It's an artificial category..
Places like Wheaton College or Trinity Evangelical Divinity School don't have anything in common with places like Bob Jones University or Pensacola Bible Institute. (These styles might overlap a bit at Liberty University and the SBC, but I suspect fundamentalists just borrow some evangelical trappings to give themselves more cred,) The tales of trauma come overwhelmingly from the fundamentalist arena.
Even so, I see a great deal of ingratitude toward parents in the exvangelicals I know personally - usually because the parents were of humble economic means and didn't give them the lifestyle they wanted.

I am still in the middle of viewing this video lol… but I wanted to say something about the white evangelical comment, because it would seem that some have very different views on that wording. I am with you in that if we hold to the core beliefs and tenets of Christianity we are All just the church- - - with the recognition that certainly where we Worship is going to look different neighborhood to neighborhood, even region. But I think folk like Dr. Eric Mason, Preston & Jackie Hill Perry as well as members of the Jude 3 Project would be able to perhaps shed needful light on this topic. I do love your channel/podcast and glean from it. Continued blessings be yours.

Great show with Anne Kennedy on the trends in the Churches causing divisions within the Denominations Churches Ministries also with Pastors. Its evident that when Biblical Standards ,Biblical Values Biblical Teachings and Doctrines are compromised as ordained by the Lord.
This leads to divisions ,separations in the Churches etc because of error, deception, etc. God's word takes precedence in our Judeo Christian belief system. Recognizing that the Lord is our Spiritual Authority and will not mislead the Churches and believers in the light of all emerging issues in our changing culture. Keep up the good work Alisa.

The scripture says for God so loved the World that he gave his only begotton son son .whosoever believes on him will not Perish but have everlasting life . Regardless of race ,colour religion, creed or political beliefs the lord sees humanity complete in him spiritually through the Cross of Jesus Christ. The Lord has already eliminated the racial component in John 3 vs 16. The Lord do not see colour as humanity does. Great show.

I have had a similar background to Anne having grown up in a Pentecostal church, then eventually ended up in Anglican circles (I'm in Canada). I was heavily involved in Intervarsity Christian Fellowship in my college days. No question I have come to lose the liturgy and Holy Communion at Westminster Abbey in 2016 was a high point in my Christian experience. The bad news is we also had to leave the official Anglican church as it's now ultra-woke and this had the effect of driving my children (now in their 30s, then in their early teens) away from Christ and the church. I don't tell them that I pray for them daily though I do particularly since the passing of my wife a little over two years ago.
Like you I am disturbed by the term "White Evangelicals" since to me it speaks something foreign to the gospel though I am certainly white and evangelical.

I think "incuriosity about Bible literacy" is key. Many if not most evangelicals grew up in church and did the things their church beliefs asked of them, but they are yet to have either a personal relationship with Christ or if they do, have not taken adult responsibility to study scripture properly (How to study the Bible with Both our Hearts and Minds. Jen Wilkin). This makes them stuck on cultural beliefs rather than scriptural accuracy. They go to culture because they don't know how to understand the Bible which tells us about God and informs us of our place in the body.
BTW When people start talking about White church evangelicals, they are just beating the latest cultural drum which is neither, scriptural, accurate, or even Christian.

24 minutes in I like what's she's saying about what God designed before the fall and what happened afterwards, but the thing is a young earth creationist view versus an evolutionist view isn't just about science, it's also about how we think about sin. If a church teaches evolution then it can only teach the fall as an allegory and not literally, which leads to a more Jungian or Jordan Peterson interpretation of the fall, followed by the accusation that "you take the bible too literally" and that's a whole different paradigm from what the Anglican lady is very sensibly and biblically talking about
What we believe DOES matter, our beliefs have consequences for how we act in the world and the values we formulate behind those actions

What bothers me about this conversation is that these ladies have a certain “nice” smugness in that they believe that they alone possess what the truth is, how the Bible should be interpreted (which isn’t divinely inspired), and have the only biblical view on all things spiritual; that if you disagree, say on the ordination of women, you need to repent or you may not have a seat at the table of the lamb. There’s a wideness in God’s mercy, and thankfully, he will decide, not you. As a former evangelical (age 69!) who stills loves and worships Jesus (in a spirit-filled mainline church), I don’t miss the condescending attitudes, the measuring to see if if one is evangelical enough, the assumption that those who have reconstructed their faith are hell-bound, etc. I’d like to hear more, “This is what I think, but I may be wrong and I can learn from you.” In other words, humility.
And for what it’s worth, every one of the many reconstructed people I know have expressed gratitude for various aspects of their conservative upbringing, particularly for the emphasis on biblical knowledge.

@@kathykardashian7750 Actually, reconstruction is the rebuilding after deconstruction. I prefer the term because that’s what happens and because the word deconstruction has become synonymous (in conservative Christianity anyway) with back sliding down the dreaded slippery slope into God knows what. Every serious Christian realizes at different times that their views of God or their understanding of a piece of scripture needs to be adjusted because they were mistaken. Happens most Sundays in church. We listen, learn, deconstruct, then reconstruct. As the Presbyterians say, always reforming.

Then apparently you don't believe Paul when he writes to Timothy that it is inspired by the Holy Ghost. If you're reconstructing you need to reconstruct it the Bible was inspired because that's what the Bible says which means God said it because Jesus said that it was his Bible

    • @leannejohnson3305
      @leannejohnson3305 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@chaplainstudent5689 I’m not referring to the inspiration of scripture, but to the interpretation of it. The variants of interpretation of inspired scripture is the reason we have hundreds (thousands?) of denominations, each thinking it is the gate keeper of truth. Some Wesleyans deconstruct and then reconstruct as Calvinists and vice versa. Happens all the time. Some folks were against women teaching men in a church, did some further study and decided that the teaching in the epistles was to specific audiences, not to the church forever. There’s room for disagreement, but not condemnation.

Jesus Christ is the truth, but you're right: as soon as you embrace a particular faith church (yes, alas, a "cult" though not necessarily a cult where the pastor takes all your assets and sleeps with your wife) you necessarily enter both truth and falsehood. But not to enter a particular faith church is to enter a non church secularist cult, but still a cult. Embracing a church cult (Anglican, Baptist, Pentecostal, etc) is the best choice of all the options if you want your life to have meaning. But you're right, you'll be in a cult which embraces both truth and falsehood, not matter what.
This "truth" is powerfully depicted in the recent move Dune (especially Dune Part 2). Highly recommended.
