@@wildforesthome6563 your choice to take an uncontrolled ride or get rolled over by the vehicle after bailing if you can. In that moment things happen real fast.
That shot of the Jeep reminded me of my FJ 40 back in the late 70's hung up and only held by an aspen from rolling off the mountain up by Rollin's Pass outta Boulder, CO. Fortunately some fella came by with a chopped F250. Probably 2 hours of dragging and snatch blocking (no winch of course!) with a 1/4" stainless steel cable. CRAZY days back then.
I worked in SAR for 14 years. We had to attend regular First Aid classes where I saw photos of accident victims. My advice is to never stand over or near a rope that's under tension. The result is too gruesome to describe here :(
Yes, people will get upset if you tell them legs get torn off, arms are shredded, brains explode out of people's skulls, and their innards are ripped from their bodies. Thanks for not describing those gruesome results!
@@trp2413 Ropes are worse than chains as far as recoil under tension when snapped. They store more energy. I'm sure you have all seen the video of the guy who was sitting in the driver's seat and had the clevis come through the windshield and smash his head in.
At 28k lbs MBS with a pulley system (weight taken by the anchor instead of the rope), the break-ability of the weight rated pull line is completely negligible here. As in tree work, these ropes are not known for their failure under tension…quite the opposite actually. But of course you should know this right? I’m sure you understand the difference between normal rope and rigging line?
I'm glad that nobody was hurt while doing this recovery.... I have never seen Tucker move that fast since I have been watching Matt's channel... at least Skeeter warned everyone when he couldn't stop the Lexus
This was really a scary moment when the car came down. Glad y‘all are safe and healthy. Thx for the awesome video. Kind regards from Germany 🇩🇪, Philipp
for folks who haven't been out West to the region Matt's in - the aspen forest of this video, the red rock desert they're usually in, and the pine forests they're in once in a while are all right by each other. Not far north there's also the humid moose territory of the Uintah Mountains. Beautiful area - well worth the trip :)
He had a winch but he said it sat on his shelf 364 days of the year. Now he has one mounted on every vehicle. No doubt we helped by nagging him into doing it.
@@JohnFL No, his business model just changed. He started out just a regular tow company(well actually he had a roofing company first, then he sold it and bought wesslers(sp?) towing). He didn't even do any off roading, they all did derby stuff 100 percent on their off time. Then he started getting calls for people stuck in the sand, so the winch wasn't necessary. This was before the banana was even painted yellow. THEN he started uploaded videos to yt at some point, he started getting more calls that he didn't used to take, stuff broke down while crawling. Between the only doing stuck vehicles(never needing the winch) to rock crawler rescues(mainly for yt views) he then needed the winches, and now he is doing so many that he is advancing to an off road wrecker. But without yt he would have never went past just your average sand hollow rescue. Point it, it had NOTHING to do with us, except for maybe the viewership being higher on videos where he was rock crawling(more exciting). This is why he doesn't video the dozens of times he gets side by sides, and just uses them for filler or almost B roll, becuase people just don't watch them as much. I personally think Trailmater's rig and recoveries are awesome, I just don't watch them as much because he doesn't have the some people there to just it personality. Which is why I can't wait for the heavy wrecker(which is probably the main reason Matt is making it, also the view count for fabrication is way higher.)
I am still amazed that the lad that took the beating down in the Landcruiser had nothing.. He AND Tucker had an Angel on their shoulders! Glad to see everybody alright! Boy.. they came home with a real big story this time! Adrenaline rush fore sure!
Reminds me of this D-bag in a Lexus I came across last weekend on a Forrest road, doing 40mph+ on a narrow road, came across another car head on in a turn and locked it down and almost went off the side of a mountain.
@Matt I think I may be the one who pushed that rock off - I got myself stuck there shortly after you posted the jeep recovery video last year. Happy to come out and help you get that back up!
@@chrisholmes6311 No, this is completely your fault for this rock getting tossed down the mountain. You should be responsible for getting it back, if you want it so bad. There is no sign or any indication that this road is closed, so how would Matt or anyone know this is meant to be a closure? And if you can get past it, is it really considered a closure? If I show up in my Jeep and see this rock, I'll just consider it an obstacle and drive right over it. Get a gate, put up some legitimate signs, then you might have something to stand on regarding this issue. Trying to take advantage of Matt's class only shows your lack of class.
MATT: "it look like it budged?" fallowed up with a violent takeoff! that Lexus a arm dug into that rock never had a chance after Matt was told his previous bumps did nothing! i laughed out loud ...sooo great ..matt was just over how slow everything was going . you could feel it from watching the video...loved it . great work guys keep it up!
Having been in very similar recovery situations to both Tucker and Skeeter, it’s good to see everyone having so much understanding and forgiveness for each other. At the end of the day, “Did you die??”
That "hasben" one of the best recent clips to view team! Glad it all worked out and no one got hurt. The drone footage was a fantastic addition - just great to see how you can use it as a tool as well.
Prime example that you need to think before you turn a minor issue, into major, possibly life ending incident. @1:30 tire fell of edge. STOP. Get out look. Maybe back up, use winch on tree, get pull from another vehicle. Heck a high lift Jack, some rocks? Instead “guns it, looses rear end, rolls few times, against a tree…. But man enough to admit his mistake…
Holy Cow guys! That was a nail biting recovery the whole time!!!! The whole team did an amazing job! Your guardian angels were hard at work with this one.
I love the effort that goes into your recoveries but always think about your own recovery after a job this size. Still a big job getting home & disposing of a destroyed wreck like this one. Hats off to all of you & thank you for letting us into your lives.
That MORVAIR IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING I'VE EVER SEEN IN THE 40 YEARS I HAVE BEEN ALIVE and I have to say thank you for being so kind and sharing your video.
Hey Matt you ever thought about carrying an old car/truck hood with you to set stuff on that won't roll or drag easily. We've drug cars and trucks on hoods for years works great helps them slide and would've definitely helped get that rock up top.
My happiest time of the day is when I see you have a new video to view, love watching this channel and the crew go about taking care of business. Certainly enjoy the antics with Skeeter, Tucker and Ms. Lizzy, and Matt it amazes me how you always come up with the right plan to get the job done, well except for the rock, the rock was just not meant to happen with only the Morvair and Banana. Looking forward to the next adventure !.
Road closed? Crikey, just nail a sign to a tree! I'm kidding !!!! Good job, Matt! Somehow, I get the feeling you are a man of integrity and your word is gold. You're a good man, surrounded by good people. What a great thing you have!
Great episode was fun to watch . FYI next time u loose a wheel dragging a vehicle jack it up and lash a tree branch under it and use the branch as a sled thats we do here is Aus its works great on the back axle but can work just as good on the front if your not trying to steer and just dragging. love watching your vids
Would be good to carry a small skid around, one out of metal, shaped like a flat bowl, weld some snatch points around the edges to attach some ratchet straps to the wounded area of the vehicle in tow.
That works on snowmobiles as well if you bust a ski off or snap suspension parts. Look around for a tree with a natural curve in the trunk, or a large branch with the right curve. busted steering you lash a tree between the tips of the skis.
Glad everyone made it out without major injury. When the rock was being winched up, I was thinking, "I wish they had a blanket over those lines" and then moments after that thought, a chain broke. I'd hate for there to be an instance where anyone of our MORR crew gets hurt or killed by a line snapping back.
They should have tried Ratchet Strapping a Log to the A Arm so it acted like a Skid... Seen that work Successfully several times too! 🥰 Great Recovery! 💪💪👊
As someone who lives in the Sevierville/Pigeon Forge area, I feel it important to give you all a heads up before your visit: Our resident junkies and pill heads absolutely LOVE targeting people's vehicles at these kinds of events. Make sure you keep an eye on your property. Entire trailer setups have been jacked. They'll steal your momma's dentures if they have gold in them.
Good heads up that's like in San Francisco you can't even park on the streets anymore they just smash the window and raid the car its so shitty how in today's society the criminals are so desperate they have become so blatant they used to sneak now they load up garbage bags at stores an run out an if they get caught they act offended like omg why are you messing with me scumbags at a all new high
One of the best episodes yet. Amazed at how good natured everyone was despite the exhaustion and constant setbacks. Either that or the excellent editing...
Matt you are definitely someone I would want on a recovery because you always figure out a plan and get the job done. This was kind of a sketchy job but you guys got it done and no one got hurt. Lizzy did a really good job towing. Keep up the great work everyone
Great job! That was a tough recovery. Regarding the lost wheel: I've had success hauling a vehicle missing a wheel by jamming a short piece (4') of 4x4" (or a similar piece of tree) under the suspension and lashing it in. It allows the vehicle to slide along on the wood and not dig in to ruts etc. Thanks for the videos!
This is my favorite crew, I swear they are such great personalities and such dedicated workers. I love watching these guys work together whether its in the shop or in the field.
“Your life flashed before my eye!” Lol I can’t believe it’s been a year since that jeep recovery!!! Seems like just the other week I watched that video!!! Glad everyone was alright!
As has been said many times they can't bring every possible tool with them on every job. Weight/space savings are the main concern on these off road jobs. Apart from a few scratches on the trailer and a couple tugs on that rock it was not a major issue and wheels falling off is not something that happens very often.
I thought the title was a bit click baity until Skeeter came hurtling down the hill and Tucker took off like a scalded cat! Glad everyone's ok, including the guys who crashed it in the first place. Yeah, my mom has an '03 LX470. It's just a landcruiser in sheep's clothing. Like it was already mentioned, it's got the lexus badge and different trim. I hate to see one in that wrecked shape, since they are very nice.
Of course, thanks for pointing that out😊 I was a bit quick there.. We get the Toyota version only over here. I own the older Landcruiser station wagon, the 80 series. The Lexus equivalent will be the LX450, I belive. That's why it kind of broke my heart to see such an iconic machine be destroyed. But it is still just a machine. The people are the only thing that is really important anyway.
@@ronv6637yeah usually the only mod is tires and lift and they’re basically just as capable. Maybe not as fast….. but that’s ok as long as they do the job, of course.
I don't know why, but somehow having trees all around a vehicle careening down a mountain isn't as scary as having a sheer drop off on both sides while the vehicle slips and slides some. That was very scary!! 😵 Glad everyone was ok and looking forward to another interesting video when you go back for the rock! 😊👍💖

I WAS JUST about to comment about why that rock had to be there and then you told us.. I was thinking it was for like a rating of the off roading community or something lol. Park Rangers are usually a vibe, a lot of those workers get into that line of work bc the grew up local and loved the outdoors, I wouldnt want anyone else protecting our parks. shoutout to all the rangers out there, you guys and girls are awesome and we love you.
You all did fantastic (bar the minor hiccup!), you're communications is excellent - its easy to look and pick faults, but in the heat of the moment with adrenaline running, you guys still manage the difficult tasks! Well done guys, keep it up!
Not sure if someone has mentioned yet but if a wheel falls off you can always grab a tree and strap it underneath to act as a slider kinda deal. It won’t be great but it’ll be better than digging the control arms into the ground like an anchor That being said I love watching your videos and can’t wait to see the heavy wrecker in action when it’s finished and ready to go
Tucker is a muscular beast, the Lexus would have bounced right off of him. Seeing that damage, I wouldn't assume either brake systems still work. Good thing you loaded it on the trailer backwards! Too bad you didn't bring a floor jack to substitute the missing tire.
That was the most solid explanation I’ve seen a customer give for what happened.

God for bed an animal will have to see that road and imagine what’s this? Something that cannot be tolerated. We are currently ruled by idiots.
This is amazing work. I truly hope Matt charges his customers a fortune for these types of very difficult recoveries. The amount of effort and ingenuity/skill displayed is really remarkable.
A HUGE thumbs UP to Skeeter for being inside of that wreck and for doing such an awesome job!!
👍👍👍
Only thing better would have been if he had his seat belt on.
@@bradsgold345 i would never wear a seatbelt on a recovery like this, you need the option of bailing out if it really goes south.
@@wildforesthome6563 your choice to take an uncontrolled ride or get rolled over by the vehicle after bailing if you can. In that moment things happen real fast.
@@bradsgold345 yep just like it was Skeeters choice
That shot of the Jeep reminded me of my FJ 40 back in the late 70's hung up and only held by an aspen from rolling off the mountain up by Rollin's Pass outta Boulder, CO. Fortunately some fella came by with a chopped F250. Probably 2 hours of dragging and snatch blocking (no winch of course!) with a 1/4" stainless steel cable. CRAZY days back then.
Great video crew. Felt bad for Skeeter, you could see the genuine concern on his face for almost hitting his friend.
Wait, skeeter has a friend?
I'd like to just say, you and your crews attitude about everything is awesome!
@@davesherry5384 Most of us watch or have watch walking dead but yeah lol
yep a line snapping can easyly make 2 pieces out of someone
The best part of this crew is your positivity. Matt get up the positive view some thing we like to see these days.
I'm glad that nobody was hurt while doing this recovery.... I have never seen Tucker move that fast since I have been watching Matt's channel... at least Skeeter warned everyone when he couldn't stop the Lexus
What was that movie? Ghost Ship?
This video was crazy! Glad everyone was okay including the drivers of that Lexus.
This was really a scary moment when the car came down.
Glad y‘all are safe and healthy.
Thx for the awesome video.
Kind regards from Germany 🇩🇪, Philipp
I was bored because of the blizzard in wny. I came upon this channel. I absolutely loved what you guys are doing and the content in general.
Lol same here
blizzard in utah right now, just found this channel as well lol
for folks who haven't been out West to the region Matt's in - the aspen forest of this video, the red rock desert they're usually in, and the pine forests they're in once in a while are all right by each other. Not far north there's also the humid moose territory of the Uintah Mountains. Beautiful area - well worth the trip :)
🤮
I'm glad Tucker has cat like reflexes. Does anyone else remember a time when Matt was against using winches?
He had a winch but he said it sat on his shelf 364 days of the year. Now he has one mounted on every vehicle. No doubt we helped by nagging him into doing it.
@@JohnFL I chuckled when he said how many are going on the new wrecker build. When Matt changes his mind, he's "all in". lol
Matts now doing click bait to get views? Sad.
@@mikeworkman3593 so basically, the views convince him of using them.
I am still amazed that the lad that took the beating down in the Landcruiser had nothing.. He AND Tucker had an Angel on their shoulders!
Glad to see everybody alright!

Use a few logs for slides or rollers, it should make it easier to get it back to where it's supposed to be.
Screw putting that rock back. If they want that road closed, then put a proper gate in, or haul in another rock.
@@vitaminb4869 except Matt has class and doesn’t burn bridges but by all means continue on your selfish way. I’m a park Ranger BTW
Oh no, he’s a park ranger
Drone eye view! I love watching Matt think through how he does these things. Way to use the tools you got!
Although brakes would've been a beneficial tool on this job I believe his parking brake rule needs modified now
“I got scared.” A real man can admit when he’s scared. Awesome! Luv you guys.
The driver was so very lucky. Sad for his rig. Great job getting it out as always, you guys are awesome
Little buffing needed, maybe some paint...

I'm glad no one got hurt during this job, especially Tucker
I like Lizzy she is one girl that loves worms it’s hard to find a girl like that anymore love y’all besafe and keep doing what y’all r doing
Rather than putting the rock back it might at this point be easier to bring them a new rock and then just pull it off the trailer
Agreed, most logical step. Or bring in a New Jersey barrier that can be easily placed. Ask the ranger FIRST though.
I agree!!! One for one!!! 🪨
We don't know how accessible that spot is though. It may well be impossible to get a trailer there.
@@ahfreebird Backing the trailer up the hill would be extremely difficult. A skid steer with a grapple might do the trick better...
Nice idea but that rock has experience!
using the drone to get the upper view is really smart! great video
I missed Tucker and Trevor, you guys are hilarious. I'm glad the customer and Tucker are ok.

Trevor is a national treasure. Thanks for being you!
He's so fun to work with n smart too!
I was just going to say that as well! I even thought they could have rolled the boulder up on a couple too.
Would be good to carry a small skid around, one out of metal, shaped like a flat bowl, weld some snatch points around the edges to attach some ratchet straps to the wounded area of the vehicle in tow.
@@SeanTemple68 An old hood works also.
@@royreynolds108 duh on me, lol, that's a clever idea
That works on snowmobiles as well if you bust a ski off or snap suspension parts. Look around for a tree with a natural curve in the trunk, or a large branch with the right curve. busted steering you lash a tree between the tips of the skis.
That was something else ! I LOVE YOU GUYS !!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Glad everyone made it out without major injury. When the rock was being winched up, I was thinking, "I wish they had a blanket over those lines" and then moments after that thought, a chain broke. I'd hate for there to be an instance where anyone of our MORR crew gets hurt or killed by a line snapping back.
Their winch lines are synthetic. They don't have the whip and kill tbe same way that steel lines do.
@@GregoryVeizades synthetic lines can and absolutely still will kill.

Bravo to whoever thought to mount the camera inside the Lexus. But I gotta say I’m amazed that Matt didn’t see this coming. So glad everyone is safe.

Lizzy did a really good job towing.
Keep up the great work everyone
I think he aquires all the schetchy jobs . That desert / canyon / mountain country is more than schetchy .
What great times with a great crew, I wonder to this day how it didn't last longer. 😢

I can’t believe it’s been a year since that jeep recovery!!! Seems like just the other week I watched that video!!!
Glad everyone was alright!
You guys should make some skids for when guys break stuff off like that to be easier to drag!
As has been said many times they can't bring every possible tool with them on every job. Weight/space savings are the main concern on these off road jobs. Apart from a few scratches on the trailer and a couple tugs on that rock it was not a major issue and wheels falling off is not something that happens very often.
*Wow very scary glad everyone is OK!!*
It won’t be great but it’ll be better than digging the control arms into the ground like an anchor
That being said I love watching your videos and can’t wait to see the heavy wrecker in action when it’s finished and ready to go
Tucker is a muscular beast, the Lexus would have bounced right off of him. Seeing that damage, I wouldn't assume either brake systems still work. Good thing you loaded it on the trailer backwards! Too bad you didn't bring a floor jack to substitute the missing tire.
