Sorry, but this video looked lacy, and we all know you can do better.

As a recovery driver for four decades first you lift the front or which ever way you are pulling, find a real place to hook up and winch out of the holes then slowly pull it out
This is reminding me of a situation where our son got the tractor stuck in a muddy field on the farm. (We were out of town). His buddy went to get his daddy in law's larger truck to pull it out. It got stuck. They called a tow truck. It got stuck. A bigger tow truck was called and almost got stuck, but he unhooked and refused to try further. He still had difficulties getting out of the field. So there were in a line> a tow truck, a very large pick up truck, and the tractor. By then it was dark and our son gave a call to the manager's office of where we were. (before cell phones). Needless to say, we had an unexpected night trip home. The next morning, my husband got the old pull-a-long that his late father used on the farm. He put pullley around a couple trees. There were enough thick rope and cables to reach. First it was used to get the tow truck out. Then more cable and out came the big pick up truck. Then the tractor-which was axle deep, was with much effort successful in getting the tractor out. There were some mighty huge ruts in that field that took years of repair before being able to be productive again. That field was named for our son. Initially he just fell backwards in it before making the initial call, thinking he may as well use this as his burial as he knew his a$$ was grass from this debacle.
It's how I do recoveries in Snowrunner. Just winch it and drag it all the way to the destination without looking behind you. No matter how many trees and rocks it gets stuck behind and smashes into. As long as it arrives, and then you still get a thank you from the owner. 😅
PC Games and real life are two separate things. Having played Snowrunner it does not offer the same sort of recovery capabilities as even a non-bespoke recovery vehicle has.
I was there with my friends watching you guys recover this RV. It was so cool seeing your wrecker and Blackhawk in person!! You made our weekend 1000% better, thank you! :)
Well to be honest Rory dosent do heavy rescue nor does Matt. They both rescue off road cars. I dont know anyone on youtube that does heavy off road rescue with large off road truck. Maybee Murphy, but even he dosent have heavy off road truck like Dave. Biggest is Hellboy.
Always amazes me when people take these luxury buses out into off-road areas. I hate damaging my vehicles, so this would be a nightmare scenario for me to experience. Some expensive repairs needed to that RV now
I have taken my motorhome to the sand dunes on many occasions, 32ft so not as big as that monster but I have been stuck in the sand. Its all part of the fun and games.
Yeah, I've been around these big busses alot, they stay on the pavement. Even then it needs to be fairly flat pavement. Railroad crossings can get these stuck pretty quick.
@@fordmud The off-road crowd is not like normal people, obviously this was not a new or shocking situation to any of the people involved, just another day stuck in the sand. The best attitude I have found is like these people, just kick back and party another day, the real problems happen when someone needs to get back to work the next day. I recall one motorhome that was stuck at the sand dunes for about a month until they got it pulled out. The owners drove back to salt lake to go to work during the week.

NOWHERE in all of the documentation that came with that Class A did it say that you could go off-roading. AND this is the most horrendous recovery I have ever witnessed.
I’m no specialist by any stretch of the imagination but in my opinion your soft ground recovery kit could use some proper outrigger pads [for the recovery vehicle] and road plates [to place under a stricken vehicle]. Other than that, steller job once again. Out of the frying pan and into the fire. Yet still saving the situation! 👍🏼
No kidding. I think they did this for YT money. Nothing wrong with it, I'm sure the owner of the motorhome agreed to the extra time for the recovery. Maybe he got a "cut of the action" or a free extraction? LOL
As someone who's lived around sand most of my life it's best to air down first. Once you're on the pumpkins airing down just adds weight to being stuck. I hate shovels as I'm always the operator while everyone stands around making excuses.
lol 30 years a go i installed slack adjusters and air lines on super b bulkers, could not read a tape measure when i started, ended up on special projects, they flew me across the country to take care of thier best client, learned how to intall hydraulics, was a great place to work, miss those guys.....and that one woman who took a very special interest in me lol
would it be a good idea to bring a truck load of rocks to put under the tires. I got my 10000 pound indoor forklift stuck in the mud once and I jacked it up and put 1 inch landscaping Rock underneath the tires and that worked.
There are plenty of supporting fans offering admiring comments but nobody is talking about the extreme amount of damage Dave needlessly inflicted to a VERY expensive RV! I noticed that we didn't hear from the owner expressing how much HE admires this recovery. Or not.
You do realize that they fabricate metal and build vehicles, don't you? Being that they do these recoveries for free, I'm pretty sure they will completely repair any damage they caused and make things right. They have helped a lot of people in the past by fixing things for free that they didn't damage. You must not watch this channel very often.
In the beginning of the vid he says that the owner had some help attempting recovery before Dave and crew showed up and that he didn’t create the damage you see. The receiver did get pulled off, but it’s entirely possible it was failing before Dave attempted a kinetic pull. Judging by the damage beforehand, it’s a high possibility.
I mean Dave could left dudes million dollar RV stuck out on the lake bed? Let's drive this 35,000 lb motorhome into an off roading area. Stupid game win stupid prizes.
@@rywmilleryes he could have and then someone else could have come and just winched them out, instead of trying to rip the bus in half. This was a fail.
You really need to purchase some military temporary aircraft landing mats. Hows about a big axle 4 feet in the air with three or four massive tires on each side. The distance between the tires should be at least 6 feet. Sling the pull rope up and over the middle of the axles, attach one end to the stuck vehicle the other to puller. You lift it up first and then the whole thing moves forward as you pull forward. Much like the H2O mechanics pump pulling rig.
I'm glad dave is man enough to post his L's along with his W's. Hope your towing insurance took care of this customer cause that rig got really messed up when it really shouldn't have.
There's a certain point in recovery, where 'getting it out' is a whole lot better than leaving it stuck. What other/better ways could you think of to get it out? It's not like you're gonna sling it with some rotators 20x attempting to drive it out.
Probably why they weren't charged. I watch a program called Trucking Hell (which deals with Heavy Duty/HGV recovery in the UK including vehicles the same size/weight as that RV) in various scenarios (including stuck in Mud) and I don't recall one episode where they just continuously yanked a vehicle like that.
We have carried many sheets of 1 inch plywood on a trailer for jobs like this one. Lifting it and putting it on a couple sheets lined up in a path back to hard pack works for cement mixers. Lifting it a little with your riggers up and pulling at the same time sometimes helps. Of course no bungy effect doing this.
Truly enjoyed this. So I was watching this on my 85” TV home theater mode and the wife overheard the song played at 15:05 claiming it’s a Bossa Nova style of music. What is the name of that tune? Thank you!!!
I don't understand the draw of taking such a large RV out on such questionable road conditions. So great to have machines to rescue everyone and their vehicles. Love the roar of the engine!
It is awesome that no matter the mistake that the family has been through you were there and not only for the recovery but you have made that kid's birthday a memory that he never forget giving him a helicopter ride and his family
Idea: you guys deal with sunk tires all the time so why not get a big stack of aluminum military airdrop pallets? They can be modified and placed under vehicle tires to drive on or used as sleds to drag to better ground.
you violently snatched it using an osh kosh then you wonder why it ripped the reciever off?? i know nothing about recoveries dont get me wrong but that seems to be asking for damage. why not lift and drive forward? or just winch?
Heavy D, the videos are one thing, but you and your team getting these massive, utterly stuck vehicles out is another!!!! Great Job with the vids and your direction and purpose in life!!!!!!!
On a much smaller scale I once back in 1977, got my 73 Scout II 4x4 hopelessly stuck in a similar manner. I drove right over an area that the local water plant had dumped whatever they had dredged out of their huge facility, into a large 200’ diameter bed about 2’ deep, then covered it with a foot of sand, just enough for people to walk on without sinking and motorcycles to blast over. So I tried that in my Scout, coming to a stop and dropping down to the chassis. Luckily I was adjacent to a local enthusiasts yard, where bunches of people had gathered to watch. Even had chains and ropes tied up to my grill guard and steel bumper, along with a couple horses and a dozen strong men pulling, all without any movement!! So I got a ride to my wonderful Dads trucking company where I also worked. I explained to my Dad what was going on. After he had a good laugh at my expense he let be take one of his 1967 Mack R100 six wheel straight trucks, that had a 22’ refer box, I had loaded with a hundred oak pallets to addd weight over the rear drive axle. Drove to the neighbors yard, then backed down his driveway to within 10’ of the end, that was about 100’ from my Scout. We took every chain, hooked them to each vehicle, then added a very heavy nylon tow strap in the center, that would add some give. I back up till the strap had about 8’ slack, put the duplex box in low range and the 5 speed trans in granny low 1st gear, then slowly letting the clutch out, and door to the floor took up the slack, where the strap stretched a bit, then all of a sudden I thought the drive axle would start hopping and spinning the huge dual tires, but instead took a good bite and yanked my Scout right out, I kept the Mack floored and dragged my Scout out and up to his driveway! To the wild shouts and applause of my brother and crowd. Later on I went to my buddies Volunteer Fire Department, where for a bunch of beer and hamburgers I got them to hose out all the mud that was caked in in every crevice underneath, in a field next door, that left a huge amount of mud behind. I would have ruined a car wash drainage system if I had done it there!!!

What a wild trip down memory lane. I was an 88m in the Army with a HET unit 2001-2007. Pulled so much out of the sandbox, especially after a little rain. Ours could change the air pressure from the cab though, so I laughed a little when you were doing by hand.

The new tracked vehicle would of been perfect out there. You need to build a tracked trailer that can be brought in pieces and assembled around the vehicle. Tracked tow dollies would be a great recovery tool.

I didn't think it was possible to get a HET stuck. Four 2.5 ton Rockwell axles, two 60,000 pound winches, 8 wheel drive, 4 lockers and eight 54" tires, they did what I thought was impossible.
Free tow, free rides in The Blackhawk, a great day for the bus owner and the family, especially the kids and definitely a good video to watch. Helping folks out is a good thing.
40 years ago we used to install mobile homes in Sandy areas like this. We had an inch and eight plywood and 2’ x 8’ rips and you just get a flatbed load of that lay out your route drive on the plywood you get sunken like that, you gotta go out there dig down down some bass pads get some hydraulic jacks jacket back up in the air get the plywood on it again.
I don't know why, but after the intro I had this vision of an RV tied to the wrecker, tied the the Kenworth, tied to the full size, tied to a half ton, to a WRX, to a side by side, to 4 wheeler to a dirt bike to Hans trying to pull everything 😅😅😅😅
I’m asking the same question a lot seem to have asked. Why the kinetic pull when a static seems like a safer / less damaging option? Your rig wouldn’t have gotten stuck. Potential less damage to the RV. I’m not a heavy off road recovery guy, but from a physics stand point it makes more sense.
The brute-forcing of most of Heavy D's videos makes me wince sometimes. It's often the hardest on the equipment and the least effective method of extraction. His team really needs to pack timber float boards when they go out to these lakebed recoveries. I've used timbers under the wheels to recover a forklift and a truck out of very soft sand on two separate occasions. I did it all single handed with a 20 tonne, two-stage jack and some lengths of hardwood under the wheels. Once the timbers were in place, I simply drove the vehicles out of the soft spots like they were on pavement.
Well they brought kindling to support the outriggers 😂 Thought the exact same thing you said, bring timbers and drive up on them to get out. Of course ripping it to pieces makes better content
The answer is a lot of wood pallets drive them under and make a pathway with lot of pallets, The pallets will allow more weight distribution in a wider footprint, and circulate one pallet at the end back to the front it will be a slow process but it will work better.
Thats not wild thats stupid. Doing heavy recovery for 15 years in the army and civilian recovery. You can calculate how muts pulling power you need whit the wrinch it takes 5 min.

Coming from someone unlicensed, unbonded, and uninsured. I mean, I'm just guessing, but I bet I nailed it on the head....
@@yourface3154 You do understand Snowrunner is a PC game?
@@schumifannreins295 Nope, I failed to recognize that, my bad.
PC Games and real life are two separate things. Having played Snowrunner it does not offer the same sort of recovery capabilities as even a non-bespoke recovery vehicle has.

This video really made me appreciate just how good of a job Rory Irish does, with Trail Mater.
Matt is the best among them from Matt's Offroad Recovery
Well to be honest Rory dosent do heavy rescue nor does Matt. They both rescue off road cars. I dont know anyone on youtube that does heavy off road rescue with large off road truck. Maybee Murphy, but even he dosent have heavy off road truck like Dave. Biggest is Hellboy.
Always amazes me when people take these luxury buses out into off-road areas. I hate damaging my vehicles, so this would be a nightmare scenario for me to experience. Some expensive repairs needed to that RV now
Exactly hey I got an idea let’s take my luxury greyhound to a sandbox.
I have taken my motorhome to the sand dunes on many occasions, 32ft so not as big as that monster but I have been stuck in the sand. Its all part of the fun and games.
I, agree with you 😮
Yeah, I've been around these big busses alot, they stay on the pavement.

That old brown prairie that had been so dry for so long was very muddy
Boggy and sticky

We all thought ?lord are we in luck!?
But he wouldn?t come anywhere near us,
Mighty neighborly, mighty neighborly.
So we used a lot of our backs, a little of our brains
We jacked up the jacks, and snugged up the chains,
We all did our very best to refrain from shovelin?.
We put what timber we had, underneath the wheels

This type of content has made it so I will never make the mistake of owing a large RV. Thank you for saving me the expense.
Don't drive that size RV off road. Problem solved.
Who TF uses 2x2"s for cribbing? lol

100%. Airing down is a game changer. All vehicles involved.
lol 30 years a go i installed slack adjusters and air lines on super b bulkers, could not read a tape measure when i started, ended up on special projects, they flew me across the country to take care of thier best client, learned how to intall hydraulics, was a great place to work, miss those guys.....and that one woman who took a very special interest in me lol
would it be a good idea to bring a truck load of rocks to put under the tires. I got my 10000 pound indoor forklift stuck in the mud once and I jacked it up and put 1 inch landscaping Rock underneath the tires and that worked.
So airing down doesn’t help once you are already stuck?
By far my all time favorite off road wrecker to surfacee on youtube.
There are plenty of supporting fans offering admiring comments but nobody is talking about the extreme amount of damage Dave needlessly inflicted to a VERY expensive RV! I noticed that we didn't hear from the owner expressing how much HE admires this recovery. Or not.
That's the price you pay when you play with these vehicles .
End of story .should have thought about that.

Bud's Ranger would have pulled the KW, the wrecker and the RV all out at one time! 😂

@@codyace using the winches instead of trying to use a snatch strap for starters.
@@iffykidmn8170 you've obviously snatched anything stuck in muck. That's why the kinetic energy ropes exist.
I thought the same with that LIGHT what 10,000 lb trailer hitch

Idea: you guys deal with sunk tires all the time so why not get a big stack of aluminum military airdrop pallets? They can be modified and placed under vehicle tires to drive on or used as sleds to drag to better ground.
you violently snatched it using an osh kosh then you wonder why it ripped the reciever off?? i know nothing about recoveries dont get me wrong but that seems to be asking for damage. why not lift and drive forward? or just winch?

The kids will remember the helicopter rider for the rest of their lives. Great job!

What a wild trip down memory lane. I was an 88m in the Army with a HET unit 2001-2007. Pulled so much out of the sandbox, especially after a little rain. Ours could change the air pressure from the cab though, so I laughed a little when you were doing by hand.

Wow the motorhome parking brake was on the entire time lol

El trabajo de Dave es como una aventura infinita 😁😁😁😁
The brute-forcing of most of Heavy D's videos makes me wince sometimes. It's often the hardest on the equipment and the least effective method of extraction. His team really needs to pack timber float boards when they go out to these lakebed recoveries.
I've used timbers under the wheels to recover a forklift and a truck out of very soft sand on two separate occasions. I did it all single handed with a 20 tonne, two-stage jack and some lengths of hardwood under the wheels. Once the timbers were in place, I simply drove the vehicles out of the soft spots like they were on pavement.
Well they brought kindling to support the outriggers 😂
Thought the exact same thing you said, bring timbers and drive up on them to get out.
Of course ripping it to pieces makes better content
The answer is a lot of wood pallets drive them under and make a pathway with lot of pallets, The pallets will allow more weight distribution in a wider footprint, and circulate one pallet at the end back to the front it will be a slow process but it will work better.
Let me guess, this is THE MOST EXTREME recovery you have ever done as usual
So they knew it was stuck but still tried to pull it without lifting? THAT IS WILD.
You must be a pavement princess if you think that is wild. Always try a pull before lifting.
Although the rescue was not as expected, I think it was quite good. I wish the rescue team good health and success. ❤❤❤😊😊😊
Thank u D for everything u do for your community your a real one
