      should i pair this with my shire sm7b and ditch my focusrite? what if i need 2 inputs tho for a podcast

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@EMAZINGERIK excellent question! The MVX2U is a single-microphone interface, so if you're Focusrite interface has multiple inputs and you plan on having more than one microphone at some point for your podcast - you'll need to hang onto it. You won't be able to use more than one mic with the MVX2U. Does that help you?

    Thanks for the review. I have been avoiding getting a cloudlifter for some time now but still notice some issues with some games, etc on my sm7b's gain/volume levels. I think if I understood though, I could just save a few bucks and keep things in the shure family with this new mvx2u though? Seems to be exactly what I have been waiting for.

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yes! The MVx2U has a preamp in it to give you additional gain for the SM7B - but keep in mind that it connects from the MVX2U to your computer or system with a USB. It basically becomes your interface. If you already have a setup with an interface, and you just want the gain boost, you could get the Cloudlifter to put in between your mic and your existing interface. The other option is to consider the new SM7Db mic, which basically has the preamp built in (licensed from Cloud who make the Cloudlifter). Does this help you? Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment on the channel!

    Can I use this without installing the Shure Motiv App and use a third party app to control my volume?

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment here! You can plug it in and use it without the Shure Plus Motiv App - however if you want to get the most out of it (make adjustments, gain, update firmware, etc) I would highly suggest downloading the app! You can always select the Shure MVX2U as your interface within any program at that point.

    If you are recording 4 people, can you put 1 on each microphone and connect them all to your computer at once (and record?)

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching and taking the time to reply here! The MVX2U really isn't intended for multiple mics through a single computer - I would suggest some sort of at least 4-input interface (which plugs into one usb on your computer), like a Scarlett 2i2 or Rodecaster Pro. We have links to those here in the notes but also reviews of these interfaces on our channel. I hope this helps you!

  • @mikelapointe9582
    @mikelapointe9582 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Thanks for the review and breakdown. Just to understand this a little more. Using the MVX2U would go directly into the PC via USB which means you avoid needing an interface like your RodeCaster Pro2? Do you lose any benefits by not having a interface?

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This actually becomes your interface. The RCP has much more functionality, but if you don’t need all the bells and whistles- this is a simple and effective interface for XLR microphones into your computer. Does that help you? Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment here!

    I am running my current SM7B with a Scarlett interface + cloud lifter. Is it worth the switch to get the clean -60db gain? Is the quality overall better?

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Your quality is already great with the Scarlett and Cloudlifter and the SM7B. This would essentially replace your Scarlett as an interface, and while it would definitely take up less space in your studio or desk - you likely won't notice a difference in your sound quality. The Focusrite preamps are great, especially when you pair it with a Cloudlifter! Does that help you?

      I believe with the right cable it may be possible - however the MVX2U is designed for laptops or desktops and works in tandem with the ShurePlus Motiv app on the computer - not on a smartphone. I hope this helps you and thanks for watching and taking the time to comment here!

    Can we use it for turning usb mic to ...xlr output ????

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, the MVX2U takes your XLR mic and allows it to work via USB and your computer (a single interface). If you have a usb mic and want it XLR, there really isn't a viable solution. There are adapters - but the problem with transferring a digital to analog signal is that it will add latency to your signal - meaning there will be a delay between your actual voice and what your interface is actually receiving (broadcasting). Does this help you? Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment here!

    Good video… can I connect a Ribbon-Mic to the MVX2u? Thank you.

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you can! As you may be aware, ribbon mics need added gain, and while the MVX2U has plenty of gain - we recommend using a Cloudlifter CL-1 before your interface to get the optimal sound from ribbon microphones. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

    Is this a good alternativ to buying a amp to use a xlr mic?

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching and taking the time to ask your question: If I'm understanding correctly, this will work as a simple, streamlined interface between your XLR mic, can increase your gain and connect to your computer (USB). An amp is something that will add gain to your mic signal - but isn't made to connect to your computer. Does that help you?

    If it had 90 db adjustable gain with a reasonable price it would have worked out great .. but with just 60 db gain scarlet 2i2+tnt (which I have) beats this in price and performance. Also the form factor would be a pain when connecting external monitor (imho). But yeah, if it works for u; great 👍

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good points here - and thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. The Focusrite preamps are fantastic - totally agree. For travel, if you want something that is single channel, simple and small - the MVX2U has been great for us. But more than one mic - the 2i2 interface is tough to beat and small enough to throw in a bag!
