Rosa Parks - On Dec. 1, 1955, in Montgomery, Ala., Rosa Parks refused to move to the back of the bus and give up her seat to a white person because she didn't believe she should have to move because of her race, even though that was the law. In fact, Parks was already sitting in the black section in the back of the bus when she refused to give up her seat and was arrested as a result. John Wayne is one of the biggest movie stars of all time. He started his career in the late twenties and continued until his death in 1979 at the age of 72. It's been said that he appeared in more movies that are considered truly great than any other actor. Some of his best are Stagecoach, The Quite Man, The Searchers, Rio Grande, Rio Bravo, El Dorado, Sands of Iwo Jima, The Horse Soldiers, True Grit the original not the remake with Jeff Bridges although it's not bad. Anyway that's just a handful as I said he made a lot of great movies although I neglected to mention his last movie The Shootist which is a very good film with a great cast I highly recommend it or for that matter any of his films.

Minnesota's most famous person is usually a toss-up between Bob Dylan & Prince. I am from & still live in Northeastern Minnesota on the Iron Range, so Bob Dylan went to school about 25 miles from my hometown. Chris Pratt was born in the same hospital as I was - actually, every baby since about 1950 was born there if their parents lived in the surrounding towns. Chris Pratt's parents lived only a few miles from my parents house, but they moved away when he was pretty young. I am 7 years older than Chris & we would have been on the same school bus route before his family moved - I don't remember him specifically, but I did go to school with a few Pratt's. Judy Garland should be listed - she's actually related to my son (his paternal grandparents are from the Grand Rapids area).

He played trumpet and also sang a few songs that we still listen to a lot today, like “What a Wonderful World,” which you may recognize from the Toy Story movies!
