Most of the Middle Eastern countries are not that old. They are the result of the British and American governments splitting up the defeated Ottoman Empire after World War 1. Iraq as common people and culture is thousands of years old, but as a country, it’s about 100 years old. The lines were redrawn after World War 2 for many Middle Eastern countries as well as the type of government they currently are changed over the years too. The same somewhat goes for Alexander the Great. There was no Greece as a country. It was a region with a common people, culture, and language. In reality, Alexander the Great was from the city state of Macedon, which had a separate governance from Athens, Crete, Sparta, etc.
